TARP Billions Shipped Overseas
Economists and conservatives reacted sharply Thursday to reports that tens of billions in TARP bailout money flowed out of the United States and into the coffers of big banks in France, Germany, and other nations during the government rescue of the U.S. financial system.
That news came as the U.S. economic picture continued to worsen, with rising unemployment claims and a surge in U.S. homes lost to foreclosure.
CATO Institute budget analyst Tad DeHaven tells Newsmax: “The economy has become increasingly global, so it’s not shocking that TARP bailout money ended up at foreign financial institutions. Nonetheless, bailing out U.S. financial firms was bad enough — that foreign institutions also benefitted from the largesse just adds insult to injury. Full Article Here
S510 Renamed, Slipped Into Another Senate Bill
Leading Democrats and Republicans in the Senate came to an agreement today on pending food safety legislation, Congress Daily (subscription) reports. The compromise will be introduced on the floor as a managers’ amendment to replace the FDA Food Safety Modernization Act (S. 510) which was approved by the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) committee in November 2009. The managers’ amendment has not yet been released, but presumably, it largely resembles S. 510.
The House passed a much-needed food safety reform bill in July 2009, but companion legislation has been held up in the Senate for a frustratingly long time. Food safety reform enjoys bipartisan support, but the bill has been demoted below other priorities.
Additionally, some Senators are seeking to attach amendments of varying utility to the bill. From Congress Daily:
The managers' amendment, which is expected to be posted on the HELP Web site today, will not address controversial Democratic amendments from Sen. Dianne Feinstein of California that would ban the use of bisphenol-A, a common plastic additive known as BPA, and Sen. Jon Tester of Montana to exempt food producers that generate less than $500,000 in sales per year or sell food directly in a farmer's market from new regulations.
So what does all this mean? Probably nothing. The Feinstein and Tester amendments were apparently among the sticking points preventing the bill from reaching the floor. Those sticking points have not been resolved, ergo, the same difficulties remain.
“Harkin's staff said conversations on outstanding issues are ongoing as the legislation heads to the floor,” Congress Daily reports. Whereas you or I might call this “delay,” the United States Senate calls it, “compromise.”
The Senators who worked out the compromise hope to bring the bill to the floor “as soon as possible,” The Hill reports. Of course, we’ve heard that before, with no results. Michelle Obama's Vacation in Spain Won't Sit Well With Voters
During the early Clinton years, 1993 and 1994, the first couple vacationed in Martha's Vineyard hobnobbing with celebrities and cruising on Ted Kennedy's yacht.
The result was that during each of the two summers, as they dived into the surf, so they dived in the polls. The last drop, after the summer of 1994, played a role in their loss of their congressional majorities a few months later.
Now Michelle Obama is making the same mistake — and at a worse time.

Illegals Account for 1 in 12 U.S. Births
One in 12 babies born in the U.S. in 2008 were children of illegal immigrants, concludes a new study, according to a WSJ.com report.
While undocumented immigrants make up slightly more than 4% of the U.S. adult population, their offspring represented twice that share, or 8%, of all births on U.S. soil in 2008, according to a Pew Hispanic Center's report.
"Unauthorized immigrants are younger than the rest of the population, are more likely to be married and have higher fertility rates than the rest of the population," says Jeffrey Passel, a senior demographer at Pew, which is headquartered in Washington, D.C.
The report additionally concluded that 79% of the 5.1 million children of illegal immigrants residing in the U.S. in 2009 were born in the country and are therefore citizens by operation of law.
At present, it is estimated that some 11 million undocumented immigrants live in the U.S. -- with Latinos accounting for 75% of undocumented U.S. immigrants and about 85% of the births among that group.

7 Latin Nations Join Mexican Suit vs. AZ
Seven other Latin American countries want to join Mexico in supporting a lawsuit challenging Arizona's immigration enforcement law.
Bolivia, Colombia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Paraguay and Peru filed separate, nearly identical motions to join Mexico's legal brief supporting the lawsuit filed by U.S. civil rights and other advocacy groups.
A federal judge formally accepted Mexico's filing July 1 but did not immediately rule on the latest motions filed late last week.
Mexico says the law would lead to racial profiling and hinder trade, tourism and the fight against drug trafficking.

Legalizing drugs is just the next step in dumbing down America and moving us down the Weimar path!! They have been adding chemicals to our food and water for years and derailing our educational system while making us slaves to the boob tube, sports, video games, electronics in general and the list goes on… all the while sending us subliminal messages to support their goals and keep us from really thinking and away from church and God. The drugs make us docile and stupid… lack of knowledge and educations makes us ignorant… junk activities keep us busy… and the absence of faith in our lives makes us vulnerable and moldable. Add drugs to already lost and disinterested electorate and you can do anything you want to and with them.
As hyperinflation ran rampant in the Weimar Republic and conditions got worse and worse they promoted women’s rights to get out of the home and leave the kids to organizations like the the Hilter Jugund, legalized prostitution, legalized drugs and promoted a Godless society so people would live for the moment… not believing anything would get better and actually fulfilling that prophecy out of their actions. America, so far, has instead awakened tea partiers, 9/12 groups, minutemen and many other patriots all around the country to fight… but too many people are still asleep and legalizing drugs only helps dumb them down that much more! Intel Hub – This is absolutely disgusting, BP and the Coast Guard have continued to spray dispersant in what can only be described as chemical rape. Where are the people in the gulf? Where are the protests?
How many lies does BP and the Coast have to tell before people realize that they have been lying from the beginning? From all indications, BP and the Coast Guard are dropping a known neurotoxin at low levels with complete disregard for ALL human life.
Complaining to your local mayor isn’t going to do jack, these multinational corporations have no respect for our laws, and with the help of the federal government, have worked as hard as possible to cover up the thousands of sick people and dead wildlife.

Officials deny dispersant use, residents beg to differ
Mayor Sam Seevers knows that BP should not be using dispersants in state waters, but after multiple reports from area residents about suspicious activity, she plans to get to the bottom of it.
