Music and intelligence: the relationship between the two

Perhaps hearing rap music while in the womb does exactly the opposite?!?
I/we have a daughter who was lucky enough to attend Semester at Sea as part of her college experience and sail around the world while studying and experiencing things that most of us only ever dream of doing and seeing. We sacrificed to add this program to her already expensive private college bill. Many of the young people on that cruise came from wealthy and privileged families from primarily the U.S. but also from Canada and a smattering of students from all over the world. They represent many of the supposed brightest and definitely luckiest and privileged kids today and ever. Our daughter and the other from her sailing meet-up when they can with other Semester at Sea Alumni on reunion cruises and special sailings as well as some on-land organized events for their group only.
Do these kids listen to Mozart, Bach and Beethoven... or even Il Divo regularly?? We would hope so. The nucleus of her group are now all between 23 to 27 years old. An email was sent out by one of them, the other day, to the group encouraging them to sign up for the next reunion for more fun and sent out an absolute fowl Rap video full of drinking and profanity as encouragement. It is sad when you realize how our youth has been damaged by the music, TV, movies and video games. In the past few weeks... while people were worried about their healthcare... the WH just tripled the funds for the NEA to help brainwash all of us...
