That’s the bottom line of a need expressed by the Delaware Office of Homeland Security which is planning a large emergency exercise on Halloween.
The Delaware County Emergency Management Agency needs 350 volunteers for the project they are calling “Zombie Exercise” which is being held October 31st at Ohio Wesleyan University’s Selby Stadium.
So far 67 people have signed up to come costumed and made up as a zombie, but the exercise needs a lot more people.
EMA Director Brian Galligher said “We would like to have a lot more volunteers, because we need real people to realistically assess how fast and how well our mass decontamination and medication procedures would work in an actual emergency.”
The EMA wants to make the event fun for volunteers. Participants will get free T-shirts, and judges will award plaques to zombies with the best costumes, best makeup, and best zombie shuffle.
Volunteers as young as 8 are welcome, although everyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention suggested the tongue-in-cheek project, but noted that if people are prepared for a zombie apocalypse, they will be prepared for more likely disasters such as floods or blizzards… police actions or national emergencies… real and created. Remember adage of old Rahm Emanuel and Hillary Clinton: “Never let a good crisis go of waste!” or perhaps create one if you need it!

DELAWARE, Ohio, October 11, 2011 -- On Oct. 31, zombies will invade Delaware! A full-scale exercise by Delaware County emergency services will simulate a zombie outbreak. Over the course of the afternoon, responders will contain, decontaminate, and treat the zombies to restore them to their normal human selves.
Up to 350 volunteer zombies are being recruited for the Delaware County Emergency Management Agency‟s Halloween “Zombie Exercise.” Before the drill starts, the volunteers will parade before local celebrity judges, and prizes will be awarded for the best costume, best makeup, and best zombie walk.
The Zombie Exercise will take place in and around Ohio Wesleyan University‟s Selby Field on Henry Street near downtown Delaware. Additional elements of the exercise will play out at Grady Memorial Hospital in Delaware.
The exercise was inspired by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention‟s Zombie Preparedness suggestions (www.cdc.gov/phpr/zombies.htm). While admittedly tongue-in-cheek, the CDC‟s Zombie Preparedness suggestions put forth the valid point that if people are prepared for a zombie apocalypse, they will be prepared for more likely disasters such as floods or blizzards.
“This will test our emergency services‟ capabilities in a number of ways,” explained Brian Galligher, Delaware County Emergency Management Agency director. “Our responders will be tested on how they assess the emergency, deploy assets, communicate and follow „hot zone‟ protocols, and set up mass decontamination and medication stations.” The zombie scenario was chosen largely to attract a large number of volunteer participants, Galligher said. He said past simulations of industrial, rail, and vehicle accidents have lacked large numbers of victims because it has been difficult to recruit volunteers.
“We want everyone to have fun with this,” Galligher said. The Zombie Exercise also will serve to remind residents to be prepared for emergencies – get a kit (w/ water, non-perishable food, flashlights, batteries, etc.), make a plan, and be prepared! The Blaze: If you have ever wondered about the government’s ability to control the civilian airwaves, you will have your answer on November 9th.
On that day, federal authorities are going to shut off all television and radio communications simultaneously at 2:00PM EST to complete the first ever test of the national Emergency Alert System (EAS).
Only the President has the authority to activate EAS at the national level, and he has delegated that authority to the Director of FEMA. The test will be conducted jointly by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) through FEMA, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) National Weather Service (NWS).
In essence, the authority to seize control of all television and civilian communication has been asserted by the executive branch and handed to a government agency.
The EAS has been around since 1994. Its precursor, the Emergency Broadcast System (EBS), started back in 1963. Television and radio broadcasters, satellite radio and satellite television providers, cable television and wireline video providers are all involved in the system.
So this begs the question: is the first ever national EAS test really a big deal?
Probably not. At least, not yet.
But there are some troubling factors all coming together right now that could conceivably trigger a real usage of the EAS system in the not too distant future. A European financial collapse could bring down U.S. markets. What is now the “Occupy” movement could lead to widespread civil unrest. And there are ominous signs that radical groups such as Anonymous will attempt something major on November 5th- Guy Fawke’s day.
Now we know in the event of a major crisis, the American people will be told with one voice, at the same time, about an emergency.
All that’s left to determine is who will have control of the EAS when that day comes, and what their message will be.
THE STATE CAN ‘SEIZE CONTROL’ AND ‘THERE IS NOTHING I CAN DO’: GLENN BECK WEIGHS IN ON NOV. 9TH EMERGENCY BROADCAST TEST
The Blaze recently reported that at 2 p.m. EST on Wednesday, November 9th, The Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Federal Communications Commission will conduct the first-ever national test of the Emergency Alert System, where radio and televised broadcasts across the country will be disrupted for roughly…three-and-half minutes:
“In essence, the authority to seize control of all television and civilian communication has been asserted by the executive branch and handed to a government agency,” wrote Buck Sexton in our earlier report.
During the upcoming test, an audio message will likely recite, “this is a test” while text at the top of the screen might read that an “Emergency Alert Notification has been issued.”
While emergency broadcast tests are typically used by state and local governments to issue severe weather alerts and other emergency information, there has never been a nationwide activation of the system before. Federal agencies cite the reasons for the national test are to ensure emergency preparedness and to pinpoint flaws in the new EAS system.
Meanwhile, the thought of the nation’s broadcast systems being completely cut off for nearly four minutes — in addition to broadcasters being stripped of control — has left many, including Glenn, feeling unsettled over who, exactly, will have power over our airwaves.
When speaking about the old EBS tests, Glenn said that it “didn’t take control away from the broadcaster.” The new system, however, “seizes control of the broadcast frequency.”
“If the state wants to take control…they can just take it and there is nothing I can do about it” Glenn stated.

Considering the general objectives of PACWAVE08, the SC approved the PACWAVE Summary Report and requested Working Groups 2 and 3 (Tsunami Detection, Warning and Dissemination; Tsunami Awareness and Response) to cooperate in the preparation of an end-to-end communication exercise PACWAVE11 in November 2011. The actual evacuation of local communities (or parts of it) will be left to the decision of local or national authorities. A PTWS Exercises Task Team was formed, chaired by ITIC and New Zealand, to organize the exercise and elaborate on detailed scenarios.PacWave11 will be held on 9-10 November 2011 as a multi-scenario exercise that will allow all PTWS countries to exercise using a destructive local or regional tsunami scenario. PacWave 11 will also be used to introduce new tsunami advisory products of the PTWC that were proposed by the PTWS Enhanced Tsunami Warning Products Task Team and approved by ICG/PTWS-XXIV. IOC Circular Letter 2390 was issued on 13 May 2011 announcing the exercise and requesting PTWS Countries to nominate a PacWave11 focal point. IOC Manual and Guides 58 on How to Plan, Conduct, and Evaluate Tsunami Exercises was issued in July 2011. The PacWave11 Exercise Manual (IOC TS 97) was published in August 2011. UNESCO will issue a press release on 1 November 2011.

"Sample Tsunami Energy Forecast Map" and "Sample Coastal Tsunami Threat Map" This isn't the first time Exercise Pacific Wave has been done. It was done in 2006 on May 16 and 17 using Philippines and Chile tsunami sources. Java is in roughly the same region as the Philippines and experienced several large devastating EQs (and a tsunami) soon after the exercise.
Pacific Wave was done again from October 28-30, 2008, and used a northeast Japan source.

The scenario:
An 8R scale earthquake strikes close to the island of Crete. A huge tsunami is generated. The exercise is based on the July 365 BC tsunami when an undersea earthquake measuring over 8R occurred in the sea west of Crete and caused not only huge geological changes on the island, but terrible disasters, exacerbated by a tsunami that led to erase from the map dozens of cities Crete and caused thousands of dead.
The drill
The Pan-European wide drill called "Poseidon" was organized "on the map" last May and takes place these days 24 and October 25 on location (the schedule was for Chania but I heard that they included Heraklion too -the two biggest cities of Crete) .
On location, there are "watchers" from over 30 countries participating in the European Civil Protection Mechanism. (I heard on tv that it concerns especially all the countries that are around the Mediterranean Sea).
Poseidon is a program funded by the European Union, aimed to prepare the Civil Protection Mechanism in Greece to deal with a devastating earthquake tsunami, through the cooperation of Civil Protection Authorities at local, regional, national and European level. The Civil Protection Authorities of Cyprus and France participate in this project and an evaluation of the exercise will be performed through the European Civil Protection Mechanism.

They received a test message at 10.36 UTC via electronic mail, fax and the Global Telecommunications System (GTS) from the Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute (KOERI, Turkey). Early results show the messages were well received within a few minutes of being sent.

October 25, 2011 – A 1300-foot-wide (400 meters) asteroid, which is more than one and a half times the length of a soccer pitch, will pass within 0.85 lunar distances of the Earth on November 8/9, 2011. Discovered on December 28, 2005 by Robert McMillan of the Spacewatch Program near Tucson, Arizona, 2005 YU55 is believed to be a very dark, nearly spherical object. According to NASA’s Near Earth Object Program: “Although classified as a potentially hazardous object, 2005 YU55 poses no threat of an Earth collision over at least the next 100 years. However, this will be the closest approach to date by an object this large that we know about in advance and an event of this type will not happen again until 2028 when asteroid (153814) 2001 WN5 will pass to within 0.6 lunar distances.” While neither the European Space Agency (ESA) nor NASA has suggested that YU55 poses a threat to Earth, plans to develop a mission to counteract a potential asteroid collision in the future are already underway. The ESA is planning to fire an ‘impactor’ satellite into a ‘test’ asteroid in 2015 to see if the object’s trajectory can be altered. The Agency is conducting the test mission in light of the minimal threat posed by the 700-1100-foot-wide 99942 Apophis asteroid, which has a one in 250,000 chance of impacting Earth in 2036. -IWO

What he believes is that we are approaching very difficult times. (He had Robert Kiyosaki of Rich Dad Poor Dad fame on as a guest last week and Kioysoki believes the same as Beck, just if one can imagine, even more so. He and Donald Trump just wrote a new book called the Midas Touch and in a recent Newsweek article they warned that real unemployment is near depression era levels. And you can go through the list including Gerald Caliente, Bob Livingston etc. etc. are all saying the same thing). Beck started out showing pictures of all the world leaders who are warning about the coming collapse now. It was pretty much all of them. They are all saying it in one way or another. That means a Global Economic Collapse... We'll wake up in the 1800's one morning, like it or not. Prepare the best you can while you still can. It could happen any day. If we are lucky it will be a year or two years off, if we are unlucky it could be tomorrow
One thing he didn't add to the list was Bandages and Medicines for humans and animals as well as animal feed (pet food). I added some verbiage in blue that he said in the video (I took notes) that was edited for posting on the site. It's a lot but the important thing is to start somewhere. Buy the B1G1 band-aids the next time they're on sale and stock up. Use coupons and you'll save a lot more. His list was interspersed with lots of preps for your mindset. There are many other lists on the 'net and in books of "stuff" you'll need. I look around and see what I use every day or need in sickness or emergency and buy extra. As for "money" it is now recommended that you have enough gold or sliver to pay your taxes for several years. Your IRA's, Mutuals, Savings and 401k's will be worthless when the dollar tanks. Get out of paper dollars. Pay off your house and car if you can.

You can still find good used (food grade) 55 gallon plastic blue drums (cheep) for water storage. Just remember to clean it out real good before you fill them and remember to put the 1/3 cup regular bleach in it before you cap it up. This will store for 6 months or longer. Remember to have plenty of small (2 gallon) plastic buckets to retrieve water from lakes and pour into the (5 gallon buckets with lids) that you already have sitting in your pull kiddy wagon. That way when you run out-- you are good go a long distance for water if you have too... And you can use the buckets to flush your toilets when the power goes out...
A 5.9 magnitude earthquake that was centered in Richmond, Virginia and felt as far as New York City and New England.
Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly reported at 2:30 pm that their bureau received information from a producer saying that a Capitol Hill Police officer says that the Washington Monument may actually be tilting as a result of the earthquake.
Seismologist John Rundle joined Kelly on her show and confirmed that the Washington Monument could very well be tilting as a result of the earthquake and the structure should be checked out.
Two nuclear reactors have reportedly been taken off line near the epicenter of the earthquake.
According to the AP:
WASHINGTON (AP) — A 5.9 magnitude earthquake centered northwest of Richmond, Va., shook much of Washington, D.C., and was felt as far north as Rhode Island, New York City and Martha's Vineyard, Mass., where President Barack Obama is vacationing.The U.S. Geological Survey said the earthquake was half a mile deep.
Shaking was felt at the White House and all over the East Coast, as far south as Chapel Hill, N.C. Parts of the Pentagon, White House and Capitol were evacuated. There were no immediate reports of injuries.
It was centered near Louisa, Va., which is northwest of Richmond and south of Washington.
Obama and many of the nation's leaders were out of town on August vacation when the quake struck at 1:51 p.m. EDT. The shaking was felt on the Martha's Vineyard golf course as Obama was just starting a round. But not to worry, he kept golfing and is not coming home to the W.H.!
The East Coast gets earthquakes, but usually smaller ones and is less prepared than California or Alaska for shaking.At Reagan National Airport outside Washington, ceiling tiles fell during a few seconds of shaking.
Authorities announced it was an earthquake and all flights were put on hold.
At the Pentagon in northern Virginia, a low rumbling built and built to the point that the building was shaking. People ran into the corridors of the government's biggest building and as the shaking continued there were shouts of "Evacuate! Evacuate!"
A nuclear power plant located in Louisa County, the epicenter of the earthquake in Virginia, has shut down.
The North Anna Power Station, operated by Dominion Power, has two reactors. Both reactors tripped automatically at the time of the quake and shut down.
The plant declared an "unusual event" in the wake of the 5.9 magnitude quake, which is the lowest stage on the plant's emergency scale.
As a result, the plant has been shut down.
The AP reports the plant is being run off of four emergency diesel generators, which are supplying power for critical safety equipment.
Nuclear Regulatory Commission spokesman Roger Hannah says the agency was not immediately aware of any damage at nuclear power plants in the southeast.
The area devastated by the La Garita eruption is thought to have covered a significant portion of what is now Colorado, and ash could have fallen as far as the east coast of North America and the Caribbean. The scale of La Garita volcanism was far beyond anything known in human history. The resulting deposit, known as the Fish Canyon Tuff, has a volume of approximately 1,200 cubic miles (5,000 km3), enough material to fill Lake Michigan (in comparison, the May 18, 1980 eruption of Mt. St. Helens was only 0.25 cubic miles (1.0 km3) in volume). By contrast, the most powerful human-made explosive device ever detonated, the Tsar Bomba or Emperor Bomb, had a yield of 50 megatons, whereas the eruption at La Garita was approximately 105 times more powerful. It is possibly the most energetic event on Earth since the Chicxulub impact, which was 50 times more powerful.

There are reports of a no fly zone and there is a huge FEMA drill going on this week along the East Coast and now the Homeland Security Threat Level has been raised to Yellow.
An active weather pattern is expected to continue across the region over the next couple of days. Additional precipitation, more than an inch in some areas is forecast today. Additional severe weather will be possible through tonight. Most common threats with these storms are large hail and damaging winds; however, an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out.
Evacuations have taken place in McKissick Island, Corning, Big Lake, Fortesque and Craig in Holt County, MO. Individuals along the Nodaway and Missouri Rivers are evacuating in Andrew County, MO.
A levee breach due to overtopping occurred on the Holt County #10 (non-federal) levee in Missouri on overnight, June 18-19, 2011, causing closure of Highway US-159 between Missouri and Nebraska due to water over the roadway. Evacuations are underway in the Big Lake area.
On June 19, 2011, the Unit L-550, a federal levee overtopped about 6 inches on a 300 yard stretch of the levee in Atchison County, along the Missouri River in Missouri. The levee located about ¼ mile north of U.S. Highway 136, north of Phelps City, MO., is rapidly eroding. Officials are evaluating what response is needed in this area. Over 360 residents in the towns of Phelps City and Watson, MO., could potentially be impacted. Current efforts are focused on evacuation and road closures as they brace for imminent failure of this levee.
In Atchison County along the Nishnabotna River in SW Iowa, there is a levee (non-federal) breach currently affects agricultural land. This breach is on the north side of the Nishnabotna River and will add to the water that is impacting Hamburg, Iowa.
The US Coast Guard has closed the Missouri River to all vessels from Mile Marker 450 near St. Joseph, to Mile Marker 811 near Gavins Point Dam in Yankton, SD. Nearly a 100 mile stretch of the Missouri River is affected.
USACE Dam Releases: Releases from the Garrison Reservoirs are at 140,200 cfs and are projected to rise to 150,000 cfs. Releases from the Fort Randall Reservoir are at 143,100 cfs and are projected to remain at 143,000 cfs, with the schedule dependent on the Gavins Point pool level. Releases from the Fort Peck Reservoir are at 65,900 cfs and are projected to remain at 65,000 cfs. Releases from the Oahe Reservoir are at 150,400 cfs and are projected to rise to 160,000 cfs. Releases from the Big Bend Reservoir are at 148,400 cfs and are projected to rise to at 160,000 cfs. Releases from the Gavins Point Reservoir are at 150,100 cfs and are projected to remain at 150,000 cfs. Peak reservoir releases are expected to continue well into August. Lincoln County, NE, has had 150 to 200 homes evacuated with several homes reporting minor damages. Several city and county roads are closed including Highway 30 east of the North Platte Airport.

West An upper level trough over the Rockies will produce showers and thunderstorms from Montana to Colorado. Some areas could receive as much as an inch of precipitation. Gusty wind low relative humidity and long term drought will produce high fire danger across the Southwest and critical fire weather in New Mexico.
Midwest: A low pressure system over the Central Plains will produce widespread precipitation across the Central and Northern Plains, Great Lakes and Southwest into Central Texas. The system is expected to produce severe thunderstorms including damaging wind gusts, large hail and tornadoes from the Central Plains to the Ohio Valley. Heavy precipitation (1-2 inches) associated with the thunderstorms will produce localized Flash Flooding. Strong west to northwest winds of 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 50 mph are expected behind the deepening system. The system will shift eastward into the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley tomorrow.
South: The region will be generally hot and dry. Precipitation will be limited to showers, thunderstorms and even severe thunderstorms in Texas, Oklahoma, eastern Tennessee, the Carolinas and southern Florida. Much of the Southeast will have unseasonably hot temperatures with many areas in excess of 100 and additional records may be broken. Gusty winds, low relative humidity and long term drought will produce high fire danger across the Southern Plains and critical fire weather in Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas. Tomorrow the system moving out of the Midwest will produce severe thunderstorms in the southern Plains and Lower Mississippi Valley.
Northeast: A frontal system extending from the system in the Midwest remains stalled over the Mid-Atlantic. Expect showers, thunderstorms and severe thunderstorms across much of the Mid-Atlantic. Some areas could see more than an inch of precipitation. A weak high pressure will keep New York and New England dry.

Monument Fire – FEMA-2919-FM-AZ (Cochise County, AZ) The fire is located within 5 miles of Sierra Vista (Pop. 3,700) and has consumed 26,956 acres, 27% containment. Approximately 95 homes and 25 outbuildings are threatened, 50 residences have been damaged or destroyed and 2 outbuildings have been destroyed. Evacuations continue for Sierra Vista, Ramsey, Miller Canyon, Hunter Canyon, Lower Stump Canyon, Ash Canyon, and Nicksville, AZ. A pre-evacuation order is in effect for the area north of Sierra Vista, AZ. Three shelters are open with no occupants
Horseshoe 2 Fire – FEMA-2907-FM-AZ (Cochise County, NM) The fire has consumed 213,511 acres (increase of 3,200 acres) and is 80% contained (increase of 5%). Full containment is expected on June 22. Nine residences and 14 structures have been damaged or destroyed. No updates are available for evacuations.
Track Fire - FEMA-2918-FM-NM (Colfax County, NM) The fire has consumed 27,792 acres (increase of 652 acres) with 80% containment (increase of 45%); Full containment is expected on June 27. Alaska East Volkmar Fire The fire is located approximately 25 miles east-northeast of Delta Junction. The fire has consumed 58,059 acres (increase of 9 acres) with 28% containment (increase of 2%) No structures are threatened. The incident command will release all resources and monitor the fire by air. There will be no further reporting from the state unless significant activity occurs.
Hasting Fire Located on State land burning approximately 15 miles Northwest of Fairbanks. The fire has consumed 22,819 acres with 61% containment; expected containment unknown. ATemporary Flight Restriction (TFR) is still in place for pilots operating in the Fairbanks in the airspace surrounding the Hastings Fire.
Colorado Duckett Fire – FEMA-2923-FM-CO (Westcliffe, CO) The fire has consumed 4,353 acres (increase of 5 acres) and is 55% contained. Several structures are threatened; 200 structures remain within 2 miles of the fire border. Evacuations remain in effect for the Eagle Peak Subdivision, Rainbow Trail Lutheran Camp, County Rd 192, Brush Creek subdivision, Maytag Ranch and other scattered structures.
Georgia Honey Prairie Complex Fires – FEMA-2920-FM-GA (Racepond, Honey Prairie, Paxton Road and Durdin Prairie Fires) Fires are burning near the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge, 5 mi NE of Fargo, GA. The fire has consumed 233,606 acres (increase of 2,588 acres) with 60% or less percent containment.
Sweat Farm Again Fire – FEMA-2921-FM-GA 5,000 acres burned, with 30% containment. Full containment expected June 25, 2011. No updates are available for evacuations or damage.
Fire Management Assistance Grant (FMAG) Texas: McDonald 2 Fire An FMAG was approved on June 20, 2011, for the McDonald 2 Fire in Clay County, TX. At the time of the FMAG approval, the fire had burned 5,000 acres. 500 persons had been evacuated and 1,300 homes were threatened. Two shelters are open.
Cowboy Church Fire An FMAG was approved on June 20, 2011 for the Cowboy Church Fire in Walker County and Madison County, TX. At the time of the FMAG approval, the fire had burned 1,000 acres in Walker County and crossed into Madison County. About 700-800 homes in surrounding unincorporated areas are affected. 1450 residents have been evacuated.
Dyre Mill Fire An FMAG was approved on June 20, 2011 for the Dyre Mill Fire in Grimes County, TC. At the time of the FMAG approval, the fire had burned 1,000 acres. 250 residents were evacuated. 30 homes had been destroyed in the Mill Stone Subdivision.
Floods threaten Nebraska nuclear plants - Washington Times
Two nuclear-power plants in Nebraska remain threatened by Missouri River flooding, including one plant where a fire briefly shut down a cooling system for spent fuel rods earlier this month.
Federal and state officials said there is no danger of a radiation leak and insisted the facilities would not see a repeat of Japan’s Fukushima nuclear-power plant disaster.
Jeff Hanson, spokesman for the Omaha Public Power District that operates the Fort Calhoun Station, dismissed Internet reports by bloggers and anti-nuclear groups on the threat of flooding.
“This is not something out of the ordinary,” Mr. Hanson said. “We train for this.”
Concerns over the flooding of the nuclear plants heightened after a June 7 fire in a basement switch-gear room of the Fort Calhoun Station, a nuclear-power plant19 miles north of Omaha.
The fire cut off electricity to a cooling pump used to prevent spent nuclear fuel rods in a cooling pond from overheating. The power outages lasted an hour and a half, Mr. Hanson said.
During that time, the temperature in the pool only rose two degrees, reaching 82 degrees Fahrenheit, Mr. Hanson said, noting the water has to reach 212 degrees to release radiation.
The tsunami that damaged the Fukushima plant shut down the cooling system and resulted in a meltdown of spent fuel rods.
Mr. Hanson said advance preparation helped both plants avoid a Fukushima-like meltdown.
“Fukushima did not have the opportunity [to prepare] and was then hit with a wall of water,” Mr. Hanson said. “Ours is not. We’ve had time to prepare.”
Water levels at the Fort Calhoun Station rose 1,006 feet above sea-level Monday, Mr. Hanson said. The plant’s nuclear reactor, which was shut down April 9 for routine refueling, is protected against floods that reach 1,014 feet, he said.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers controls Missouri River water levels by changing water-flow rates from six dams along the river.
In May, heavy rain in Montana and North and South Dakota fell in amounts that typically take an entire year, Army Corps spokesman Carlos Lazo said. The increase in rainfall and anticipated snowmelt led to greater water releases along the river dams, he said, including its latest water-flow raises Saturday and Sunday. Mr. Lazo said the increases will be the Corps’ last upward adjustments.
“We’re maintaining the releases until mid-August because of the ongoing snowmelt,” Mr. Lazo said.
However, one of the spokesman would say what would happen if water levels increased and flooded the plants.
Nuclear Regulatory Commission spokesman Victor Dricks, speaking for the region that includes Nebraska, dismissed worst-case scenarios as speculation.
Flooding of the plants is “not a concern,” he said.
The second plant, the Cooper Nuclear Station, located several miles from the Nebraska-Missouri border, has not experienced any flooding, and as of Monday, continued to operate at full capacity, said Mark Becker, a spokesman for the Nebraska Public Power District, which operates the plant.
Workers at the plants continued to prepare for flooding by placing sandbags and 8-foot-tall water-filled rubber barriers to protect the reactors from the river water, officials said.
Recently, some buildings at Fort Calhoun suffered water damage, but they were described as “minor buildings,” including a warehouse, that pose no risk for the possible release of radiation, Mr. Hanson said.

US Orders News Blackout Over Crippled Nebraska Nuclear Plant

A shocking report prepared by Russia’s Federal Atomic Energy Agency (FAAE) on information provided to them by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) states that the Obama regime has ordered a “total and complete” news blackout relating to any information regarding the near catastrophic meltdown of the Fort Calhoun Nuclear Power Plant [photo top left] located in Nebraska.
According to this report, the Fort Calhoun Nuclear Plant suffered a “catastrophic loss of cooling” to one of its idle spent fuel rod pools on 7 June after this plant was deluged with water caused by the historic flooding of the Missouri River which resulted in a fire causing the Federal Aviation Agency (FAA) to issue a “no-fly ban” over the area.
Though this report confirms independent readings in the United States of “negligible release of nuclear gasses” related to this accident it warns that by the Obama regimes censoring of this event for “political purposes” it risks a “serious blowback” from the American public should they gain knowledge of this being hidden from them.
This report further notes that the “cover-up” of this nuclear disaster by President Obama is being based on his “fantasy” of creating so-called green jobs which he (strangely) includes nuclear power into as his efforts to bankrupt the US coal industry proceed at a record breaking pace.
More ominous for those American people whose lives depend on the coal industry that is being deliberately destroyed is the Obama regime’s massive “security exercise” currently ongoing in the major coal mining States of Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia, and as we can read about, in part, as reported by InfoWars.Com:
Obama’s fears of the American people turning against nuclear power, should its true dangers be known, appear to be valid as both Germany and Italy (whose people, unlike the Americans, have been told the truth) have turned against it after the disaster in Japan and vowed to close all of their atomic plants.

Japan's Nuclear Emergency Response Headquarters finally admitted earlier this month that reactors 1, 2, and 3 at the Fukushima plant experienced full meltdowns.
TEPCO announced that the accident probably released more radioactive material into the environment than Chernobyl, making it the worst nuclear accident on record.

In the US, physician Janette Sherman MD and epidemiologist Joseph Mangano published an essay shedding light on a 35 per cent spike in infant mortality in northwest cities that occurred after the Fukushima meltdown, and may well be the result of fallout from the stricken nuclear plant.
The eight cities included in the report are San Jose, Berkeley, San Francisco, Sacramento, Santa Cruz, Portland, Seattle, and Boise, and the time frame of the report included the ten weeks immediately following the disaster.
"There is and should be concern about younger people being exposed, and the Japanese government will be giving out radiation monitors to children," Dr MV Ramana, a physicist with the Programme on Science and Global Security at Princeton University who specializes in issues of nuclear safety, told Al Jazeera.

On March 10th 2006 NASA issued a solar storm warning for 2012 but omitted telling the general population as to why the warning in their report. Then in June of 2010, NASA once again warns the world population, but this time around, NASA warns the world community to get ready for a once in a life time solar storm. NASA say’s the sun storm will be in full swing around 2012-2013, however the National Academy of Science says, “The solar storm could start any day now.” “Who ever is right, the storm is coming!” says NASA.
The alarming news was aired July 14, 2010 which now explains why NASA, along with The National Academy of Science and other world renowned scientist are all very concerned about the coming 2012-2013 solar maximum.
What NASA did not tell you is that our sun is entering into an interstellar energy cloud which is also turbulent which will cause the sun’s solar maximum in 2012 to become violent, which results in the Carrington effect, that could precipitate gigantic solar explosions, magnetic anomalies, careening cometary masses and destabilize the orbits of some asteroids.
