Iowa Has Caucused…

Iowa Caucuses Post Photo Cut

2012 Iowa Straw Poll winners: Mitt Romney #1, Rick Santorum #2 and Ron Paul #3.  An angry Newt Gingrich who said he is changing his approach finished 4th. Rick Perry who finished a disappointing 5th said he was heading back to Texas to reevaluate… which means short of a lot of arm-twisting from influential backers, he is out.  And Michele Bachmann rounds out the field in 6th place after having been the winner of the Iowa Straw Poll this past August. She said she is going nowhere and it is headed on to New Hampshire and South Carolina, but the word is she is out of money.  Technically Jon Huntsman Jr. finished 7th in Iowa but he really didn’t campaign or participate there.

Update: Republican Presidential candidate Michele Bachmann formally ended her campaign for the White House this morning, just one day after Mitt Romney's Iowa caucus victory. "Last night, the people of Iowa spoke with a very clear voice. And I have decided to stand aside," the GOP Congresswoman from Minnesota told reporters today.

And there is also an interesting side note… Looks like although Mitt Romney won the Iowa Caucus (by 8 votes) and Rick Santorum was the story of the Iowa Caucus. Ron Paul may be the delegate winner.

And after heading home to Texas on Tuesday night and cancelling his South Carolina plans, Perry announced on Wednesday that he was staying in the race? Go figure?!?

In reality… the Iowa Caucuses were a virtual tie between Romney and Santorum followed by a strong 3rd for Ron Paul.

“Game on”, said former the Senator from Pennsylvania, Rick Santorum from the podium last night. For whether he finished first or second in the Iowa Caucuses… he is the story of the day… he was the winner!!

(Wikipedia) The Iowa caucuses are an electoral event in which residents of the U.S. state of Iowa meet in precinct caucuses in all of Iowa's 1,774 precincts and elect delegates to the corresponding county conventions. The caucuses are generally defined as "gatherings of neighbors”. There are 99 counties in Iowa and thus 99 conventions. These county conventions then select delegates for both Iowa's Congressional District Convention and the State Convention, which eventually choose the delegates for the presidential nominating conventions (the national conventions). The 2012 Iowa Caucuses are held on January 3, 2012.[1]

The Iowa caucuses are noteworthy for the amount of media attention they receive during U.S. presidential election years. Since 1972, the Iowa caucuses have been the first major electoral event of the nominating process for President of the United States. Although only about 1% of the nation's delegates are chosen by the Iowa State Convention (28 Republican delegates in 2012, assigned proportionately), the Iowa caucuses have served as an early indication of which candidates for president might win the nomination of their political party at that party's national convention, and which ones could drop out for lack of support.

Photo: Participants it the Ames Iowa Straw Poll in August 2011: Rick Santorum, Herman Cain, Ron Paul, Mitt Romney, Michele Bachmann, Tim Pawlenty, Jon Huntsman, Newt Gingrich… Rick Perry had not even entered the race yet.

It is an amazingly curious process that begins with the Ames Iowa Straw Poll which took its first casualty of the GOP presidential race, Tim Pawlenty.  Gary Johnson, who has also now moved from the GOP field to the Libertarian party, did not participate in the straw poll and Thad McCotter, who did participate, did not qualify for the pre-poll debate and dropped out of the race after the Straw Poll.

All three of the frontrunners: Romney, Santorum and Paul gave great speeches at the end of the night.  Gingrich sadly sounded like a vindictive whiner, which in the end will only hurt the GOP, the American people and help re-elect Obama.  Mr. No Negative Newt is turning into Get Even Angry Gingrich. Newt has already taken out a full page negative anti-Romney ad in South Carolina to hit the papers the day after the Caucus.

A side note… at the end of the evening it was announced that the Iowa Republican Party could not find the last 1% of votes from Clinton and Keokuk counties.  All the major networks, local reporters and media sat waiting long after the winners gave their speeches and went to bed.  Some were already off to New Hampshire or South Carolina before the votes were found.

All the remaining GOP candidates will participate in two debates that are scheduled before the New Hampshire primary where Romney now leads by 40%+ in every poll, even with Jon Huntsman having virtually lived in that state for months now.  There will also be another debate right before the South Carolina primary.

In every poll, Romney still comes out as the most electable against Obama in the General Election compared to all the other GOP candidates.

Countdown to New Hampshire primary: 7 days
Countdown to South Carolina primary: 18 days
Countdown to Florida primary: 28 days
Countdown to Nevada caucuses: 32 days
Countdown to Super Tuesday: 63 days
Countdown to Election Day: 308 days

Total ad spending in Iowa: By the way, the campaigns and various Super PACs spent more than $16 million in advertising in Iowa. The breakdown for the major players: Perry $4.3 million, Paul $2.8 million, Restore Our Future (pro-Romney) $2.8 million, Make Us Great Again (pro-Perry) $1.6 million, Romney $1.5 million, Gingrich $980,000, Red White and Blue Fund (pro-Santorum) $530,000, Winning Our Future (pro-Gingrich) $264,000, Bachmann $180,000, and Santorum $30,000.

Future ad spending: Here is what’s slated to run after today: In New Hampshire, Romney, Paul, and the pro-Huntsman Our Destiny PAC are all booked to run TV ads between tomorrow and the Jan. 9th primary. In South Carolina, Romney, Paul, and the pro-Romney Restore Our Future are booked. And in Florida, Restore Our Future is booked on broadcast advertising until Jan. 9th.

Obama addressed the Iowa Democratic caucus-goers, via video teleconference as the GOP Caucus was going on, at 8:15 pm ET. He made his case for another term to the absence of any noticeable cheering, chanting or clapping. And on Wednesday, 01.04.12, he goes to the important battleground state of Ohio, where he will speak in Cleveland.

*While waiting for the lost votes to come in I listened to the coverage from the BBC.  (Always good to hear things from another perspective!)  Their take is that the GOP really needs to pull themselves together and start focusing on the prize… beating Obama, instead of beating each other up!  They thought that Obama is very vulnerable, but the infighting and extreme ideology of some voter groups will end up causing Obama to be reelected.

Reports out of the Obama campaign are that they are elated by the 3-way split of votes in Iowa as well as the latest reports of stepped up in-fighting.  They feel that if the united GOP goal is really to replace him, they should be able to unite.

At 1:54a.m.ET with 122,255 votes cast, the difference between Romney and Santorum was just 4-votes, with Santorum leading. At 2:34a.m. ET the final tally came in by agreement of the senior staff people of the two winning camps.  But during and after that gap, the talking heads had a lot of time to kill while waiting for the final votes to come in.  At 2:35a.m. they were pondering whether perhaps it was not too late for someone else to jump in… or as the old song lyrics go, should Republicans ‘learn to love the ones they are with’ instead of yearning for a dream team they wanted that didn’t run like Chris Christie, Sarah Palin, Paul Ryan…

In the end, Romney won the race by 8 votes…. as we said before, a virtual tie. (Jon Huntsman siphoned off approximately 700 votes and Herman Cain got 58 votes, even though he is out of the race.) Both Romney (30,015 votes) and Santorum (30,007 votes) came out winners. And Ron Paul doing this well is also a victory for his campaign.

But the true question is… Is the division displayed in Iowa a victory for the GOP voters and ultimately for the American people?

The DNC’s Christmas Gift to Newt Gingrich

DNC Web Video: "Original Tea Partier"

By Marion Algier

Without a doubt Obama and the Democrats would rather run against Newt Gingrich than Mitt Romney.  In poll after poll Mitt wins as the most electable, having the best chance to beat Obama in the general election over anyone else in the GOP field.

So was the ad a mistake… a DNC Oops?  Or are they sly as foxes?  Was this an attempt at gift giving to themselves?

The conservative right faction of the GOP, although almost everyone says that in the end they will vote for whomever to beat Obama, is looking for the ‘real’ most conservative GOP hopeful… to support, which Newt isn’t. So is this an attempt by the DNC to help Gingrich?

Newt might be considered more right of center than moderate Mitt in some areas, but certainly not on personal behavior or ethics.  Romney has been married to the same women, Ann Davies Romney with whom he has raised 5-children, without a hint of scandal and has always been very involved in his church, while keeping both his morals and religion out of the spotlight.  Mitt has political experience as Governor of Massachusetts but is not a career politician nor a beltway insider.  He also has extensive business experience and saved the economically distressed Winter Olympics in Utah with his business know now (a definite positive for where we are as a country).  Gingrich on the other hand is on his third marriage with questionable affairs in-between including with present wife Callista Bisek Gingrich, and has scandal and dissent in his political background as well for the Democrats to dig out later.  Newt is a career politician as well as a Washington insider.

If the GOP were really interested in a tea party candidate or the most conservative candidate for their nominee they would be leaning toward Rick Santorum, Michele Bachmann or Ron Paul with his added Libertarian leanings. (Santorum picked up the endorsement of the Secretary of State  of Iowa this week; Michele Bachmann had her best debate performance this past weekend in Iowa in months; and Ron Paul has an incredibly loyal organization on the ground for the Caucuses.)   All three have a chance to surprise the pollsters in Iowa.  And even Rick Perry is further right of center and has some tea party support. But Perry’s campaign continues to flounder even though he did redeem himself somewhat in Saturday’s debate.

Side note:  Perry attacked Mitt Romney for the 7th time, during the Iowa Caucus Debate this past weekend moderated by ABC, on the issue of Romney’s position on the individual mandate in the nation’s new health insurance law, ObamaCare. Perry keeps asserting what Mitt wrote in his book, No Apology (the hardback version), was changed to accommodate a flip-flop for the paperback version release. (Mitt has explained that the book was written two years ago so in light of his candidacy he updated parts of it for the new paperback release since information and issues change.)  Rick Perry has continuously misquoted what Mitt wrote in the hardback version (verified by this writer and several mainstream media news outlets) 7-times now.  Mitt finally had enough and last night said so, asking Perry if he wants to bet $10K.  Perry of courses backed off saying he was not there to bet but to run for office, but did back down.

The leftist controlled mainstream media as well as left-blogosphere seized on the comment and have had a field day with Mitt’s' ‘bet’  comment as soon as the words left his mouth in an attempt to make Mitt look like an out of touch rich guy.  The Romney camp when contacted today said Mitt had finally had enough and obviously knew that Perry was wrong so wouldn’t take the bet. Mitt just wanted to put an end to this on-going erroneous charge.  Come on people… let us stop being manipulated.  Mitt was right to back Perry down.  And if you pay attention, it is Newt who has been caught at Tiffany’s more than once buying very expensive gifts… not Mitt.  Another great media manipulation by Team Obama and their media alliances.

Overall, Newt experienced his first round of being attacked as the latest front-runner. Mitt came out for the first time in the loser category, not because he did badly, but because he wasn’t  as good on his feet and message discipline as he has been in the past, and because of his $10K remark blown out of proportion by the media. And Bachmann came out strong except for one too many positive references about former candidate Herman Cain; people still aren’t ready for that.  All six candidates did fairly well in the Iowa debate and no one missed Huntsman.  Even with Mitt’s bet remark he has a strong organization in Iowa from the 2008 run that shouldn’t be diminished. (Don’t miss the next GOP Debate moderated by Fox on Thursday, December 15, 2011 at 9p.m. ET)

The road to the White House in 2012 is going to be a long, hard and probably ‘dirty’ road.  Obama has the biggest war chest in history and goes into his second term campaign still virtually un-vetted while the GOP candidates with help from the media are tearing each other apart and doing all the vetting for Team Obama.

Who ultimately gets the GOP nomination is still up for grabs… Even Iowa is still up for grabs. But at least for now Newt should be sending the DNC a Merry Christmas card with a big thank you for their support with this ad!

The Candidate…

I watched Palin’s Iowa Tea Party speech with an old school chum who was visiting for the weekend. He agreed to watch it with me because of our old friendship… because he is a long standing liberal, voted for Obama the last time around and really only knew of Palin through the mainstream media spin that was then rehashed by his like-minded friends.

By the end of the CSPAN program he turned and looked at me and said, “I was wrong about her! The media is wrong and has obviously been unfair to her!  And you, my old friend were right about Sarah Palin!  She is a viable candidate and is saying all the right things!”

I ask that you read this in the same spirit… in the search of knowledge and the friendship of being a reader of my blogs and information.  Marion~

Sarah Palin has magic, gravitas, heart and a love for both America and Americans.  She loves the crowds and can relate to everyone who comes for a chat, handshake, autograph or photo and she stays longer and mingles more with the crowds than any candidate out there.

I watched her entire Iowa Tea Party speech followed by about 40 minutes of her engaging with the people… and they love her!

Palin in Iowa warns Tea Party of 'crony capitalism' by both parties  -  This is why her polls are down and why we should elect her.  Both sides, the Dems and the traditional career politicians on the Republican side hate her and are afraid of her… and they control the media~

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin speaks to supporters during the Tea Party of America's "Restoring America" event Saturday at the Indianola Balloon Festival Grounds in Indianola, Iowa.

By NBC's Alex Moe and Andrew Rafferty

INDIANOLA, Iowa - At a rain soaked field in the first-in-the-nation caucus state, Sarah Palin delivered a speech in front of a few thousand supporters that railed not only against President Barack Obama but also criticized the Republican presidential field.

Palin told the crowd at the National Balloon Classic field that the permanent political class and "crony capitalism" of both parties is what has caused this nation's fiscal problems. But she specifically questioned the Republican field of candidates -- asking if their campaign contributions leave them beholden to special interests.

"To be fair some GOP candidates, they also raise mammoth amounts of cash and we need to ask them too, ‘What if anything do their donors expect in return for their investments?’" Palin said during the Tea Party of America's "Restoring America" event. "We need to know this because our country can’t afford more trillion-dollar thank-you notes to campaign backers."

Here's an excellent speech by Sarah Palin from yesterday!  She gets it and sees the loss of freedom we're experiencing in our country - and she's bold enough to say it out loud.  She also presented her plan for our country.

Unfortunately, the Progressives editors got to these YouTube versions and upped the "dislikes" on them to influence the sheeple who don't know any better and get all their news from the liberal mainstream media making them easily swayed.  I'm hopeful that many of us who like what Sarah Palin, or are at least willing to listen, to what she has to say in the speech will "LIKE" each of these videos to counter what the America-haters have done.  (If I can find a raw unedited version of the speech anywhere, I will add it later.)

Sarah Palin's Speech on Saturday Will Be a Full-Throated Defense of the Tea Party

As I said above, I listened to Palin’s speech live and then watched her interact with the crowd for about 40-minutes afterwards. She was magic and real as she connected with the crowd like nobody else out there in the GOP field or Obama does!

People ’like’ Bachmann.  People ‘love’ Palin!  Those that listen to the mainstream media instead of what she says ‘hate’ Palin, and do so to America’s peril!

And if you actually listen to what she says and research her record, you realize that God gave America Sarah Palin at a time when we need her and if we let the left, the beltway politicians on both side and  and the ignorant naysayers talk us out of elected as our next President… we will have missed the obvious choice and perhaps the person who would have saved America!!

Sarah Palin is exactly what we, mainstream Americans, keep asking for... someone that the average American can relate to; someone like you and me. She is patriotic, loves America and will fight for 'Her' and us. She is probably the potential candidate most like Ronald Reagan in her belief system and lights up a room when she walks in. The left hates her, which is always a good sign; she can speak with a word or two jotted in her hand Winking smile (without a teleprompter) and is smart, spunky and pretty to boot! And although the expected September 3rd announcement of a run didn’t materialize, it is ever more expected.

Sarah was thrown to the liberal media wolves, which goes all the way back to the ‘Journolists’ who eventualy admitted media fraud and collusion during the 2008 campaign, and she remained standing! We let them demonize her and now don't want to take a chance on her because we are afraid she isn't electable. She isn't electable only if we don't stand behind her and up for her.

Palin is pro-Constitution, pro-family, pro-fiscal responsibility, pro-second amendment, pro-free market capitalism, pro-U.S. energy self-sufficiency, pro-Israel, pro-strong military, pro-life, anti-ObamaCare, and has just enough of a Libertarian streak in her to make her more flexible when needed than Bachmann.  And if you read the emails released about her time as governor of Alaska you know she is a hard worker, honest and can do the job we need. Then if you watch the film Undefeated (which will air on most cable groups this month) you will see she someone who can relate to and like. She is a wife, a mom... including of a handicapped child, she can hunt, fish and then cook-up what she brought home... and then jump into a pair of heels and wow us with an extemporaneousness speech to a live crowd of thousands or even millions on Fox News.

So... why would we/the tea party, Republicans and Independents want to support her, is the the question being asked by the media and the left?  The answer:  Why wouldn’t we; she makes sense, is what we need and is someone we can relate to with our values.  And she can win if we support her!

Sarah is a winner and a fighter... the question is will we fight for her and help her win or will we settle for the lesser of two evils again?!?  Here is Why Sarah Can Win.  The Long Lost Sarah Palin Emerged From Released Emails Victoriously

I believe that nations just like people are given gifts and opportunities… from God, a higher power, or whatever you want to call it.  It is then their (our) responsibility to recognize them, grab hold of them and use them or suffer the consequences. And just as they are given, there is evil who tries to take the gift away or distract us from it.  In this case, Sarah Palin is the gift and the liberal media who are manipulated by puppet masters who benefit from the status quo, is the evil.

Ask Marion~

Here is a video illustrating the difference between capitalism and corporatism.  Palin believes in the free market and capitalism.  We have been living under corporatism, supported by the right in power and in an ever increasing move toward socialism or worse supported by the left in power.  Palin supports the common man!

Why Are Palin’s Polls on Running So Low?

What Don't Republicans Want Sarah Palin to Run?

Later today, Sarah Palin will be speaking to a large gathering of Tea Party supporters in Iowa, then she will be flying to New Hampshire to speak at a Tea Party Rally sponsored by Tea Party Express. (Judson left this morning to join the same tour.) Her speech in Iowa is greatly anticipated and many of her supporters are driving and flying from all over the country to hear her speak.

She has stated that this speech will not be an announcement that she is running for President and those who have previewed the speech say she will focus on slamming the establishment and Obama, while praising the Tea Party movement itself. While I am of the personal opinion that she will not be running for President, many not only think she will not, they think she should not.

Earlier this month, Tea Party Nation had a poll asking you if you thought Sarah Palin should run for President. Almost 60% of you said no, she should not run. A few days ago, Newsmax released the results of a similar Fox News poll where almost 75% of the Republicans polled stated they did not think she should run. From the article:

Americans overwhelmingly believe that Sarah Palin should remain out of the race for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination, a new Fox News poll of registered voters reveals.
Respondents were asked: “Do you think Sarah Palin should run for president in 2012 or not?” Overall, 74 percent said no, just 20 percent said yes, and 6 percent said they’re not sure.
Among Republicans, 71 percent said the former Alaska governor should stay out of the race, as did 80 percent of Democrats, 66 percent of independents, and 66 percent of tea party members.

Will you be watching Palin's speech on CSPAN later today? Absolutely!! Why do you think so many Republicans do not want to see her run?  Absolutely!!

Response…

Sarah Palin is exactly what we, mainstream Americans, keep asking for... someone that the average American can relate to; someone like you and me.  She is patriotic, loves America and will fight for 'Her' and us.  She is probably the potential candidate most like Ronald Reagan in her belief system and lights up a room when she walks in. Sarah Palin’s Saturday Speech Will Be a ‘Full Throated Defense of the Tea Party

ABC’s Shushannah Walshe and Sheila Marikar report:

Two days before Sarah Palin’s much anticipated, on, off, and on again Iowa speech, details are emerging about what the former Alaska governor will say.

A source close to Palin told ABC News that she’ll offer a “full throated defense of the tea party.”

“Regardless of what she decides to do, this rally is for the tea party to kick off this campaign,” the source said, “this” being the 2012 presidential campaign.

ABC News has also learned that Palin’s speech will reference themes from an Aug. 8 Facebook post called “Conquering the Storm.” It discusses the Standard & Poor’s downgrade of the nation’s credit rating and her solutions to the country’s financial woes.

A source close to Palin told ABC News last week that her speech at Saturday’s “Restoring America” event will be a substantive, big-picture vision of America. Palin herself alluded to what she’ll discuss on Aug. 25, when she tweeted a link to a YouTube video entitled “Obama Lies 7 Times In Under 2 Minutes!” and wrote, “I’ll be talking about this and more on September 3rd.”

Palin is slated to be the last speaker at the Tea Party of America’s Saturday rally, which will also feature the likes of Iowa Tea Party chairman Ryan Rhodes, radio host Tony Katz and Los Angeles-based comedian Eric Golub.

Despite confirming her appearance at the rally on Wednesday after putting her participation in the event on hold, all is still not well between the rally’s organizers and Palin’s political action committee. A source close to SarahPAC told ABC News that her team is upset about how the Tea Party of America seemed to hype the event based on the chance Palin would announce her 2012 intentions at the rally.

Palin to Meet Supporters Ahead of Saturday Rally

ABC News has also learned that ahead of her speech, Palin will attend a Conservatives4Palin meet-up in Urbandale, Iowa, on Friday evening. It will be the first time Palin has attended a meeting of the independent group of supporters, many of whom are traveling from across the country to hear her speak.

Conservatives4Palin was started by Palin’s current aide and speechwriter, Rebecca Mansour. Many of the group’s members are also trying to build a grassroots base for Palin through the group Organize4Palin.

ABC News’ John Berman contributed to this report.

Debt-End Tour

An In-depth Analysis of Obama’s Economic “Debt-End Tour” 2011

Our “Comrade Commander in Chief” Obama on his Economic Rural Tour, consistently calls for the American people to contact their government representatives “because the government has not broken down, but our political system has.” He believes that our political system is the responsible culprit for all our economic problems.

Could it be that Big Government is what is wrong with our economic problem and NOT our political system?  Having a republic that values the United States Constitution should not be a problem...  The big problem is that our president, his advisors, and his close associates refuse to respect and listen to our Constitutional political process.

Obama has been endorsed by the Communist Party 1.  The goal of the Communist Party is the enslavement of all people for the “common good”.  The end game for the Communists is to change the United States into a socialist nation much like Cuba, Venezuela, and China.

During one of the closing remarks given after a break out session, Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack, former Governor of Iowa, introduced the crowd to Obama.

Vilsak said that the president is someone in whom he has great trust.  Vilsack noted that a good leader is someone in whom people have confidence.  Obama, likewise, praised Vilsack and it wasn’t too long before Obama made this statement:  “We need to fix our politics.

How can he, as a president of a free country and how can citizens of a free country, blame the very process that guards our freedoms?  The political process, albeit somewhat flawed, is the only process in the world that provides government representation “of the people, by the people and for the people”.  Indeed, Obama said many times throughout his tour that there was not anyone in any other country who would not want to come to America.

There is a bill---The Start Up Visa Bill 3, authored by Senators John Kerry (D-MA) and Richard Lugar (R-IN), which will boost even more foreigners to our shores. “It will allow an immigrant entrepreneur to receive a two year visa if he or she can show that a qualified U.S. investor is willing to invest in the immigrant’s startup venture.”

How would Obama change our political system?  He already has changed the climate of our political system by….cozying up to the SEIU and other unions that encourage thuggery and corruption 4.  For example, Obama is linked to the corrupt organization of Acorn and his support for the New Black Panther Party is demonstrated by advising our Department of Justice Attorney General Eric Holder, to not prosecute the blatant threats made at voting booths in Pennsylvania.

In June, the President signed an Executive Order establishing the White House Rural Council. 5   The Council is tasked with "focusing on increasing rural access to capital, spurring agricultural innovation, expanding digital and physical infrastructure in rural areas, and creating economic opportunities through conservation and outdoor recreation."  It was these areas that Obama focused, steering away from disclosing anything upsetting to rural Americans.

Traveling in two buses, one black and the other red, valued at $1.1 million each, purchased by the Secret Service from Provost, a Canadian manufacturer. Obama finally re-connected with his 2007 farm goals that were used as part of his platform while running for the Senate seat in Iowa. 6

In 2009, the current administration kicked off the original Rural Tour.7   Interest in rural America has now been expanded to include Obama's Executive Order 13575 8 and the White House Rural Council.

The two buses used in this year's tour have drawn much interest and ridicule.  When one considers the following information, it is easy to understand why eyebrows have been raised. Certain political parties or positions 9 have become associated with different colors at different times. One writer called the red and black buses "Gog and Magog". 10

Town Hall Atkinson, Illinois 12:45 PM

The Wyffels Company, which manufactures genetically modified (GMO) seeds for Monsanto was the host.

In a warehouse owned by Wyffels Hybrids, amid genetically modified (GMO) corn seed sacks piled high to the ceiling, people were fanning themselves anxiously awaiting the president.  Obama, opening with the following statement said, “When I travel I am absolutely confident and the reason I am confident is because of the American people.  There is not a country on earth that would change places with us.”

He has that right!  So why, day after day, after day…it’s been three days in row, do we hear him say, “There is something wrong with our politics.”

Obama gave incorrect statistics:

Obama, in defense of his administration said, “Two million private sector jobs have been created." But according to Steve McCann's article in the American Thinker: 11

”The reality is 2.5 million jobs in the private sector were eliminated since Obama assumed office.

It is painfully obvious, even to those without access to the BLS reports, that average Americans instinctively know by their own experiences that there has been no job creation in the private sector since Obama became President; yet he so casually and easily can throw out a lie to further his ambitions.”

Obama “moved on”, as in www.moveon.org, explaining his plan for economic recovery.

Obama’s Plan:

1. Pushing for a payroll tax cut, Obama said that it was something we could do right now, but that “politics is holding us back”

Everyone but Obama knows that Social Security is in trouble, yet he decreases our payroll tax so that LESS is going into the Social Security fund?  This is just one more reason that Obama is the wrong man for the job; nearly everything he does is destructive to the people of this country.  For the last year, Obama's tax cuts have meant that an employee is contributing only 4.2% of their wages to the Social Security fund (FICA).  Whereas before, the standard contribution was 6.2% for both the employee and the employer.  The employer still contributes 6.2%.  Since the Social Security fund is already in trouble, it doesn't make any sense to cut the fund even more.  In essence, what is being done is that Big Government is "borrowing from the Social Security fund".  Borrowing money from the SS fund doesn't affect our credit rating with Standard and Poor's, because it is like borrowing from ourselves.  THIS MONEY DOES NOT HAVE TO BE PAID BACK INTO THE SS FUND.

In addition, the average tax cut might give each family $1,000.  Divided by 12 months, is only $100 per month.  Most families would use that money to pay down on their credit card debts."  But Obama, in essence, is borrowing that $100 from the pockets of future Social Security funds, thus endangering an already nearly insolvent 12 government program.

2. Building of future infrastructure for roads, bridges, and schools, would get construction workers and contractors back to work. “Since interest rates are low, we could finance these investments.”

With whose moneyChina has said, “Enough, no more lending to the U.S.!”  14

3. Passing trade bills that encourage more U.S. goods sold to foreign

countries.

How has NAFTA worked out for us? The North Atlantic Free Trade Agreement was pushed and shoved down the throats of Canadian, United States and Mexican citizens under the guise of creating “wealth and prosperity”, when in reality it built plants in foreign countries and closed manufacturing plants across Canada and the United States resulting in the loss of millions of jobs

Another result of NAFTA is the continued dissolving of our sovereign boundaries.  In the following video, a Canadian citizen, in down to earth terms, explains the horror that NAFTA has inflicted on the people of Canada and the United States.  "NAFTA A Dirty Lie"15

3. Providing money to finance entrepreneurs helping them to market their ideas and make money, rounded out his proposal.  Again, he added, “The only thing holding us back is our politics”.

Being curious, and looking into this “bill” that he mentioned in passing aimed at helping entrepreneurs, I discovered:

S.565 -- StartUp Visa Act of 2011 16 (Introduced in Senate - IS)

To establish an employment-based immigrant visa for alien entrepreneurs who have received significant capital from investors to establish a business in the United States:

You’re kidding me, right?  Help immigrant entrepreneurs and not U.S. citizen entrepreneurs?  I am sure that the crowd would have reacted very differently had they known that their tax money was yet again destined to help foreigners instead of current United States citizens.

He explained the reason for the S & P downgrade was because the political system couldn’t seem to make a good decision.  Again, blaming our political process rather than the problem of Big Government run-away deficit spending!

5. Continuing student loan programs

6. Investing in basic agricultural research

He rounded out his opening remarks by saying, “We need to have shared sacrifice and balance the budget in a balanced way.”  He referred again to Warren Buffet remarking that millionaires were coddled under our present tax code.  If money from all the millionaires and billionaires were taken and applied to our deficit, it would only cover a small percent of our deficit.  Obama's theory that the rich don't pay their "fair share" is incorrect!  Look for yourself at the U.S. Federal Tax Code found on page 98 of the official document.  The chart <Link> shows that the rich pay 35% of their income toward federal taxes.

Here is an excellent video from Bill Whittle 17 that spells out just how much money it will take to keep the country going each day even after taking away all the money from the millionaires and billionaires.  And then what are we going to use for capital?

Before taking questions, he said: “I want to enlist you to send a message to Congress to stop engaging in rhetoric rather than getting things done and stop worrying about the next election.”…

Who’s worrying about the next election?  To me, this remark resembles the old saying where the pot is calling the kettle black.  His entire three-day trip has cost the taxpayer millions of dollars. This tour has been labeled as a 2012 election campaign trip for Obama. Even Jon Stewart is calling Obama's bus tour a campaign event.  Watch the video for some laughs! 18

Question and Answer Time

The next 30 minutes was devoted to answering questions that were a little more challenging than the previous days.  The first questioner was a corn and soybean farmer who said:  “Mother Nature has really challenged us lately …please do not challenge us with new rules and regulations.”  Obama reassured him, “Don’t always believe what you hear.  The folks in Washington write some of these articles and the lobbyists will send out information saying, ‘Look what’s going down the pike!  Just call the USDA directly”

A reporter from "Politico" attempted to call the USDA as Obama had suggested.  The reporter attempted for two days to get an answer for a question.  After being on the phone continuously for those two days, the reporter received a generic email from the USDA.  The email did not answer the specific question. 19

If the USDA and the Department of Agriculture had not received over 1700 calls and contacts from interested parties, farmers would have been required by the Secretary of the Department of Transportation, Ray LaHood appointed by Obama, to qualify for a Commercial Drivers License (CDL).  Yes, the same licenses that are required by drivers of 18-wheelers!

Second Question

Remarking about the slowing of the economy after the S & P downgrade, a local real estate owner asked what was Obama’s plan for “getting the country out from where we are”.  Obama said that the banking industry was at fault for getting us into the housing bubble and that banks need to have slightly tighter lending regulations than they have now.

Obama is advocating MORE banking regulations. The Federal Government is actually paying banks now to NOT give housing loans. 20

“The Federal Reserve is quietly continuing with one of the many outrageous bank-bailout programs it initiated during the financial crisis--the one in which it pays big banks interest on their excess reserves.”

Third Question

Concerned with Simpson-Bowles tax hike plan and the Super Committee, a man who works at the local arsenal, asked how the president would balance the budget.

Obama responded that we should have a “balanced approach” that would include cutting defense spending, modifications to Social Security and Medicare, in addition to raising added revenues.

(Hope the arsenal plant where the questioner works is not shut down because of those proposed “defense cuts”.)

Obama said that the deficit was caused by giving tax cuts in 2000, getting involved in two wars that we didn’t have the money to pay for and giving a prescription drug program to seniors.

Note, he made no mention that the skyrocketing deficit was caused by his failed $2.5 trillion Stimulus Bill.  Looking at the chart published by the Congressional Budget Office, the true 10-year cost of the stimulus bill is $2.527 trillion in spending with another $744 billion cost in debt servicing. Total bill for the Generational Theft Act: $3.27 trillion. 21 At this time, there are rumors of a Stimulus 2.

Fourth Question

When asked, “What can Congress do to help provide more jobs?”, Obama replied,  “Things we can do WITHOUT Congress include my creation of a Jobs Council.   The Department of Defense has started a new program.  It is like a reverse boot camp, which trains returning veterans for jobs.  We are looking at changing certifications and regulations. We are studying rules to see if they are cost effective.”

According to an article from ABC News, Obama To Announce New Steps To Get Veterans Back To Work 22

The president will advocate for a “Returning Heroes Tax Credit,” which would offer participating companies a $2,400 tax credit for hiring short-term unemployed veterans. The White House would also offer additional incentives of $4,800 to companies hiring service members who have faced unemployment for six months or longer.

“This is not a tax credit that we believe necessarily has to be continued indefinitely, but we believe that with the significant number of veterans entering the workforce at a time of significant long-term unemployment as our nation is recovering from the worst recession since the Great Depression, that this is both appropriate and fair and something the American people will strongly support,” the official said.

However, according to Army Times 23, injured troops are in limbo for discharge because the new bureaucratic delays hinder evaluations.

“A typical service member’s case is handled off between the Defense Department and the VA nine times during the new integrated process.  It typically starts about a year after a service member is injured, after it’s clear that remaining on duty isn’t possible, with a goal of 295 days to complete after that initial year.  But the average completion time after the initial year is more than 400 days, leaving the service member in limbo for more than two years.”

If Obama’s new jobs program for vets is handled anywhere near these present steps for certification, our hearts should really be touched by the service that they have given to our country.

Fifth Question

A young man, noting that some Republicans have signed a pledge against no new revenue, asked what Obama’s feelings were about pledge signing. Obama submitted that we could raise taxes without seeing harm to the middle class.  He also offered a suggestion of closing up tax loopholes and again offered up Warren Buffet’s quote about the rich people being “coddled” with the capital gains tax.

Obama’s main error in his statement 24 was, “The richer you are the lower your tax rate.”  This statement has previously been proven wrong because the tax chart on page 98 of the 1040 Tax Code shows incomes above $373,650.00 are taxed at 35%; whereas, nearly one-half of our population pays 0% tax.    Tax credits are actually beneficial because they place more money into the system and stimulate the economy.

Obama said, “Every day I take an oath; my pledge is that every day I am looking out for the American people.”

I guess he is NOT using Wikipedia’s definition of American people:  “The people of the United States, U.S. Americans, or simply Americans or American people, are citizens of the United States.”, because he has made sure billions of our tax dollars have been given to foreign countries 25 and even terrorists 26A few days ago, it was reported that our government mistakenly gave $360 million to the Taliban and other terrorist organizations.

Our government sends hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars to other countries every year and we’ve been happy to help when we’re doing well at home. Do you consider these spending items to be “essential?”

Sixth Question

“What training offers the best prospective job opportunities in the future?”  Obama’s response was, “The days are over for getting a job just because you work hard…the world is shrinking. Products from Addison end up in China…  We can do more to encourage math, science, engineering and technical skills.  Having a foreign language skill is important too.”

Seventh Question

An eleven-year-old boy asked what could be done to keep his grandfather’s ethanol plant running.  Obama emphasized that Sec. Of Agriculture Vilsack is a strong supporter of biofuels and that the government wants to find diversity in products that can be used for fuel.  Wanting to make biofuels out of things that are not in the food chain will require an investment in research.  He gave the example that one-third of Brazil’s fleet operates on biofuels.

But using biofuels 27 has not been without consequence to the rich rain forests that have been cut down in order to grow biofuels and growing some of the biofuels have been identified as adding to more CO2 emissions because of the fertilizer used.

Eighth Question

A young man who had promised his grandmother that he would be a lobbyist for senior citizens asked when Social Security would get a cost of living (COLA) increase.  Obama replied that it is likely that a COLA increase will happen soon.  He added,  “Social Security is NOT in a crisis”.

Two weeks ago, who would have believed that Social Security was solvent after Obama threatened to not send out the Social Security checks for lack of money!  He added, “We tried to pass a $250 supplement, but Congress wouldn’t pass it.”

Ninth Question

A young woman working for Community Services, concerned about budget cuts from programs that “help people keep their head above water” such as low income housing programs and heating assistance, asked why these programs were being cut.  She added that the formulas for calculating the funds did not take into consideration the total number of unemployed.  One of Obama’s responses included news of a future program where companies would get subsidies for hiring people.

The president will advocate for a “Returning Heroes Tax Credit,” which would offer participating companies a $2,400 tax credit for hiring short-term unemployed veterans. The White House would also offer additional incentives of $4,800 to companies hiring service members who have faced unemployment for six months or longer.

What if those people needing help with heating fuel and housing costs are not veterans?

He concluded by saying that if we pull together using American know-how and ingenuity, we will be stronger and that he needs their voices to be heard in Congress.

Town Hall Alpha, Illinois August 17

With a green John Deere tractor, hay bales and the U.S. flag being the outdoor

stage focal points, the audience waited for over an hour in the sun and heat for Obama to begin his speech.  Basically, he said the same thing that he said in all the other rural towns.  He spoke of how bad it was two-and-a-half years ago when he first became president.  Again, he made a reference to the false statistic that the private sector had created over two million jobs.  He blamed the Japanese Tsunami, debt crisis in Europe and trouble in the Middle East for our economic problems.

His standard line came through again:  “There is a lot wrong with our politics and that is what we have to fix.  The debt debacle was a self-inflicted wound.  Six months ago, if we could have come together on a bi-partisan basis we wouldn’t have had a problem.”

If Congress had raised the debt ceiling, giving Obama an unlimited charge card, every man, woman and child living in America would owe much more than the ever increasing figure 28 $47,011.12. You might want to check that link again to see if that figure has increased.  I think the increase is almost a thousand dollars a day because it was $46,000+ yesterday!

He spoke briefly about modifications that he would like to have made to Social Security and Medicare and ended by saying:  “I am here to enlist you to send a message to Congress that we are tired of the games and posturing.  Think about the next generation instead of the next election.”

It would be nice if he took his own words to heart.

The question and answer session was brief.  Questions included a woman concerned about losing the family farm because of estate taxes.  Obama said, “We should be thinking about what is ‘“fair’.  Some people can afford to give more than others and there is nothing Socialist about paying your fair share.”  Hmmmmm……….wonder why

he used that “S” word?

Another farmer voiced concern about increasing government regulations.  Obama countered that before every regulation is passed it goes through intensive discussion and that he should just call the USDA.

The farmer is correct in voicing his concern about increased governmental agriculture regulations.  New demands are coming from the EPA to regulate DIRT.  "If there's ever been rural America, that's what rural America is," said Nebraska hog farmer Danny Kluthe. "You know? It's dirt out here, and with dirt you've got dust."

The Environmental Protection Agency is looking to tighten standards for the amount of harmful particles in the air, facing opposition from U.S. farming groups 29 who call it an unrealistic attempt to regulate dust.

A woman working for the tourism council asked if he would elaborate on his and Michelle’s philosophy of eating properly.  Obama praised Michelle for the great job she had done with nutrition and exercise. He mentioned how Wal-Mart, Farmers’ Markets, and the Child Nutrition Act utilize more vegetables and produce.

The last questioner, a girl of 13 whose step-dad is a sheriff, asked what could be done to better equip and train our law enforcement officers.  Obama said that although the violent crime rate is down, the crime rate against law enforcement officers is going up. “The problem is criminals have gotten better weapons.  We need to have improved tracing of weapons. I am a big believer in the Second Amendment and hunting. Keeping guns out of the hands of criminals is something we need to do.”

According to what I am reading, Obama is also a big fan of gun control, just ask any member of the National Rifle Association and they will tell you that Obama, Attorney General Eric Holder and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton are chomping at their bits trying to enact more gun confiscation 30…errrrrrr…I meant gun legislation.  Twelve Democratic senators have joined 45 Republicans in a fast growing movement to halt progress on an Obama-backed United Nations effort that could bring international gun control into the United States and slap America’s gun owners with severe restrictions.

As predicted, his closing remarks were that government is NOT the problem.

He said, “Government is the policemen, men and women serving us in Iraq, people who work for FEMA, our astronauts, food inspectors, so don’t buy into this problem that government is the problem, we have a problem because we didn’t HAVE government looking over the shoulders of banks who were taking crazy risks.”

So According to this last statement made by Obama, banks need more regulation too!

Of course, he would criticize our political system because he is not readily getting his hidden agenda railroaded through as easily as he would like.  That is, except for his list of 92 Executive orders signed thus far in his 30 months as president which is at least 3 Executive Orders per month.  The last being Executive Order 13583 - Establishing a Coordinated Government-wide Initiative to Promote Diversity and Inclusion in the Federal Workforce. 31

This Executive Order has conveniently circumvented Congress, has given amnesty to 300,000 illegal aliens awaiting deportation 32, plus giving them access to U.S. tax identification numbers and access to work permits.

Talk about making a fast get-away, Obama signed the order the night before leaving for his August Martha’s Vineyard vacation.  You remember the one that “all presidents take in August.”

Charles Krauthammer discussing the president's Martha's Vineyard vacation 33 said,

“Choosing an exclusive enclave like the Vineyard after spending three days on the road railing against the rich and the wealthy and the millionaires and the billionaires and the corporate jet owners who vacation exactly in the same place and then spending 10 days in their company speaks of a kind of dissonance or hypocrisy."

Dear Comrade Obama:

It isn't that our political system is wrong.  The problem is that your politics don't fit with real Americans who would like to see a United States flag or the Presidential insignia on your bus....after all, you were not on a "campaign".

We would like to see a real love of country.  We would like you to stop giving our money to terrorists. We would like you to start abiding by our government's rules that are written in the United States Constitution.  We would like you to stop doing things behind our backs.

The amnesty that you gave to illegal aliens in your recent Executive Order was written in defiance of our LAWS.    The health care bill that you rammed down our throats was another knife in the back to our country.

We would like you to respect our laws and our Constitution

Obviously, if Obama has his way we are looking at more Big Government regulation and more Big Government spending.  All I have to say after listening to his speeches for the last three days is “Thank God for the American Political Process!”

Obama Admits Healthcare Waivers Are to Hold Back Flood of Companies Dropping Insurance

John on August 16, 2011 at 2:36 pm

This is from the President’s appearance in Decorah, Iowa. A man in the audience asks “You talk about universal healthcare…if it’s so good why are you allowing so many large companies to opt out?”

Listen carefully to the President’s answer:

Video:  President’s Speech from Decorah, Iowa

Anytime you’re changing big systems like this there’s going to be a transition period. So, the overall healthcare reform does not fully take effect until 2013. That’s when we have the exchanges set up, which means that if you don’t have health insurance or if you’re a small business that only has a few employees and you can’t get a good rate, you’re going to be able to go into the exchange and essentially be part of a big pool just like a big company or federal workers are and get a better deal from your insurance companies. But those exchanges are just now being set up. Took about couple years to get it set up.

So in the mean time the question is how do you manage that transition in a way in which a bunch of companies don’t say to themselves well we’re just going to eliminate healthcare that’s not great but it’s better than nothing. And our basic attitude has been we’re willing to give some waivers to some companies that are doing something when it comes to healthcare because those employees don’t have a better option right now but as we build up this better option then they’ll be able to take advantage of that better option. So the whole issue here has to do with how do we transition to the point where all these exchanges across the country are up and running.

All during the debate over Obamacare, Republicans argued that companies facing steeper costs would simply eliminate health care and dump people into the exchanges. Here’s how the Heritage Foundation described it earlier this year:

As it turns out, many businesses will likely dump employees into the subsidized exchanges, passing the cost of providing coverage from the business to the federal taxpayer. A company that does not offer health coverage will be able to increase its work force’s wages, with the employees receiving generous subsidies to buy insurance in the exchanges. It is a true win-win scenario (workers get higher wages and subsidized coverage while employers get drastically reduced costs for employee health insurance) if we forget about the taxpayer.

Meanwhile, progressives like those at Think Progress were busy arguing that this would not happen to any significant degree.

But President Obama just admitted that the waivers his administration has issued are an attempt to staunch the flood of companies dropping employer healthcare just until the exchanges are set up. Maybe there’s another way to parse it, but that’s how it sounds to me. Once the exchanges are set up the waivers end (already built into the law) and employees will have a “better option,” i.e. taxpayer subsidized plans.  (The ultimate goal of the Progressive left and ObamaCare is a single-payer system where they will control the money mismanage it and borrow from it as they have from Social Security and then we the sheeple will get treatment, or not, based on what is left in the kitty!)

The entire effort to promote Obamacare has been a case of deceit and misdirection by the President and his allies. As the reality of the plan draws nearer, he continues to reveal more of the reality as opposed to the carefully crafted sales pitch.

Like everything else Obama is doing… they are trying to hold the line until he is re-elected… when all Hell will break lose!
