Pelosi Chokes Up Warning Against Political "Violence"
“I have concerns about some of the language that is being used because I saw … I saw this myself in the late '70s in San Francisco,” Pelosi said, choking up and with tears forming in her eyes. “This kind of rhetoric is just, is really frightening and it created a climate in which we, violence took place and … I wish that we would all, again, curb our enthusiasm in some of the statements that are made.”

A usually steely House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Thursday began to tear up when, in responding to a question about the tone of the national debate, she recalled the politically charged violence that tore through her hometown of San Francisco in the late 1970s.
At her weekly news conference, Pelosi (D-Calif.) was asked if she was concerned about whether the debate over healthcare and the role of the federal government – much of it wrapped in escalating anti-government rhetoric – could lead to acts of domestic violence.
“I think we all have to take responsibility for our actions and our words. We are a free country and this balance between freedom and safety is one that we have to carefully balance,” Pelosi began.

WASHINGTON -- House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said yesterday she is clueless about an amendment to prohibit government funds for embattled ACORN, although it overwhelmingly passed the Senate Monday and the White House is calling for the group to be held accountable.
"I don't even know what they passed," Pelosi told The Post yesterday. "What did they do? They defunded it?"
The amendment to suspend housing grants was a stunning blow to the community-activist group -- and came as some Democrats and the White House have been backing away from the group.

HUH? House Speaker Nancy Pelosi yesterday as she claimed ignorance of Senate action on an amendment (below) calling for the defunding of ACORN.
The vote was preceded by the release of videos by conservative activists posing as a pimp and prostitute soliciting -- and receiving -- tips from ACORN employees about how to shield income, avoid taxes and set up a brothel.
The issue now goes to a House-Senate conference committee for a spending bill. Its fate is up to Democratic leaders, particularly Pelosi, since the House passed no such provision.
Some fellow lawmakers were surprised that Pelosi wasn't following the issue.
"I think that she's not focused on the issue of corruption," said Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), who has been hammering ACORN.

Nancy Pelosi says she didn’t know:

* Let us not forget, ACORN is like one of those creatures whose tentacles grow back when cut off. They come back under another name after they funnel cash through one of their subsidiaries. Cleaning up that hornet’s nest is going to be a huge under-taking and will require the shut-down of funding to all their subsidiaries and prosecution of the Rathke Brothers and other high ranking leaders and entangled politicians!!
