Upon our brief return to our home in Florida, Sammy, our greyhound gave me a ho-hum look and retired to his doggie-bed; not the excited welcome home I expected after being away for over a month. I fear the house-sitter has stolen the affection of my dog.

Mary and I have been in Massachusetts feverishly working to make Conservative Michael Sullivan the Republican nominee in the Massachusetts special election to fill the U.S. Senate seat vacated by John Kerry.

Many of you may wonder why my Conservative Campaign Committee has been working so diligently on the Massachusetts Senate race. What makes flipping the Massachusetts traditionally Democrat seat to a Republican seat of such national importance? Well, it could start a ripple effect in the political landscape.

Folks, in case you have not noticed, we are losing America to the socialists/progressives. Obama is like a political Dr. Frankenstein who has created his lifelong dream, a socialist/progressive monster. With his eyes bulging with excitement, Obama yells with elation, It’s alive! It’s alive!

Exposed during the Dr. Gosnell trial is the practice of “snipping” which is sticking scissors into the back of the baby’s neck and cutting the spinal cord. Snipping is done to kill those annoying babies with such a will to live that they survive the abortion undermining the abortionist. The shocking and horrific abuses of the poor and minority women revealed in the Dr. Gosnell trial has drawn not one word of criticism from Planned Parenthood. Meanwhile, Obama is the first sitting U.S. president to address/speak at a gala for Planned Parenthood which is essentially an abortion factory – especially of minority babies. We, the Tea Party, and other patriots who love America are the perceived peasants who have risen up with pitchforks to challenge the out-of-control beast created by Obama. But what is our game plan – our strategy for victory? Simple: Install Conservatives in as many key positions as possible. This strategy along with prayer for divine help and guidance is the only way to restore our great country to the vision of our Founding Fathers. We restore America one race – installing one conservative candidate at a time.

So, this is why Mary and I have been away from our Florida home living in Massachusetts for the last month or so – abandoning my dog Sammy and her cat, Marilyn.

Filling Kerry’s seat in the Senate with a Conservative Republican will give majority leader Harry Reid one less rubber-stamped vote. A Conservative in Kerry’s seat would also be another thorn in Obama’s side joining fellow constitutionalists Marco Rubio, Mike Lee, Rand Paul and Ted Cruz.

If the Republicans can find the courage to stand on principles and do well in the 2014 midterm elections, we could possibly, dare I say it, win the Senate. Then, we can impersonate Donald Trump and say, “Harry Reid, you’re fired!”

This is why the Senate race in Massachusetts is so much bigger than just Massachusetts. Patriots, please contact your Massachusetts family, friends and associates and encourage them to vote for the conservative Republican choice, Michael Sullivan for U.S. Senate, in the Tuesday, April 30th primary.

Also, can anyone advise how I can rekindle Sammy, my greyhound dog’s loyalty and affection?

Seems Bomber Jihadists' Money Traces Back to Saudi Arabia and Osama

North Caucasus jihadists’ money traces back to Saudi Arabia and Osama bin Laden

The seed money of major North Caucasus or Chechen terrorist groups such as the Caucasus Emirate, the Islamic International Peacekeeping Brigade (IIPB), the Special Purpose Islamic Regiment (SPIR) and the Riyadus-Salikhin Reconnaissance and Sabotage Battalion of Chechen Martyrs (RSRSBCM) can all be traced back to Al Qaeda and Osama bin Laden.

Although we don’t yet know to which groups the two Russian-born brothers of Chechen descent who were identified as suspects in the Boston Marathon bombings may belong, it’s important to take a look back at the origins of the money behind the North Caucasus jihadist network overall.

Islamic International Peacekeeping Brigade

The Council on Foreign Relations says that, “According to the U.S. State Department, the Islamic International Peacekeeping Brigade is the primary channel for Islamic funding of the Chechen guerillas, in part through links to al-Qaeda-related financiers on the Arabian Peninsula.”

The Middle East Forum has more on IIPB:

In October 1999, emissaries of [IIPB founder Shamil Basayev] and [mujahideen leader] Ibn al-Khattab traveled to Kandahar where bin Laden agreed to provide fighters, equipment, and money to conduct terrorism and aid the fight against Russia. Later that year, bin Laden reportedly sent substantial sums of money to Basayev, Ibn al-Khattab, and Chechen commander Arbi Barayev to train gunmen, recruit mercenaries, and buy ammunition.

The United Nations says that, “With Al‑Qaida’s financial support, Al-Khattab also mobilized fighters from Ingushetia, Ossetia, Georgia and Azerbaijan to fight in Chechnya and Dagestan.”

History Commons offers further details similarities between Ibn Khattab and Osama Bin Laden, and the U.S. and U.K.-based imams who have funded Chechen rebels:

They share fundraising and recruiting networks. For example, a Florida cell of radical Sunnis that is monitored by the FBI starting in 1993 is involved with both organizations (see (October 1993-November 2001). Radical London imam Abu Qatada raises money for jihad in Chechnya (see 1995-February 2001 and February 2001) and is a key figure in al-Qaeda-related terrorism who is in communication with al-Qaeda logistics manager Abu Zubaida. [BBC, 3/23/2004; Nasiri, 2006, pp. 273] The Finsbury Park mosque of fellow London imam Abu Hamza al-Masri is used as a conduit for funds for both jihad in Chechnya and bin Laden’s Darunta camp in Afghanistan (see March 1999 and March 2000-February 2001)…

Khattab repaid Bin Laden in kind: “In October 2001, Khattab sent additional fighters to Afghanistan and promised to pay the volunteers’ families a substantial monthly stipend or a large lump-sum payment in the event of their death.”

Special Purpose Islamic Regiment

In a 2003 study, the CDI found that, “Osama bin Laden and his al Qaeda network provided much ideological and financial support to the SPIR after the mid-1990′s. The group has been known to engage in kidnapping, extortion, and contract killings as well to generate money.”

Riyadus-Salikhin Reconnaissance and Sabotage Battalion of Chechen Martyrs

RSRSBCM, like the other North Caucasus terrorist groups, is financially connected to Al Qaeda, as documented in a UN sanctions summary:

In October 1999, emissaries of [RSRSBCM leader Shamil Basayev] and Al-Khattab, who was a leader of IIB, traveled to Usama bin Laden’s home base in the Afghan province of Kandahar, where Bin Laden agreed to provide substantial military assistance and financial aid, including by making arrangements to send to Chechnya several hundred fighters to fight against Russian troops and perpetrate acts of terrorism. Later that year, Bin Laden sent substantial amounts of money to Basayev, Barayev and Al-Khattab, which were to be used exclusively for training gunmen, recruiting mercenaries and buying ammunition.

The RSRSBCM, IIB and SPIR were jointly responsible for the hostage-taking crisis at a Moscow theater in 2002.

Caucasus Emirate

The Caucasus Emirate is a confederation of different Chechen terrorist groups. The International Institute for Strategic Studies notes that in the 1990s, “Al-Qaeda also established a presence in the North Caucasus, where it organized training camps and provided weapons, financing and other logistical support to Chechen rebels.” Previous Money Jihad coverage of the use of zakat to fund jihad in the North Caucuses can be found here and here.

Last year, Caucasus Emirate began demanding “tribute for jihad” by imposing taxes on wealthy residents and businessmen in Dagestan, similar to the forced zakat of the Taliban, taxes levied by Al Shabaab in Somalia, and the revolutionary taxation of Basque separatists and the PKK.

Conclusion

The wealthy Wahhabis of Saudi Arabia, men like bin Laden and Khattab, fanned out in the 1980s and 1990s to wage jihad along the fringes of the Islamic world—places like Afghanistan, Bosnia, and the North Caucasus. They took their own money and the sadaqa donations of rich fellow Arabs to finance their cause. The disease could not be quarantined, and the infection spreads to this day.

Most recently, Chechen jihadists have made the news for joining forces with Syrian rebels, and declaring upon arrival that “Jihad needs very many things. Firstly it needs money.”

So what are the connections between this event?  The money? The Obama’s meeting with the ‘so-called person of interest’ they let get away??  So many questions… again.  So few answers!

Glenn Beck said: “After what I have learned this week I’m a changed person.”  And he has given the the U.S. government until Monday to come clean, or he will be blowing the whistle. 

Beck: “Let me send this message very clear: We know who this Saudi national is. It is in your best interest of the integrity of the people of United States of America. It’s best coming from you, not from a news organization. It’s best coming from you. You have until Monday. We have information on who this man is. And listen to me carefully. In your little “event” world, we know he is a very bad, bad, bad man. I know that doesn’t make any sense to you right now. But on Monday it will…

It makes sense to somebody in Washington.

Well this is where the pedal hits the metal as they say. It's time for me to make my final election predictions, along with the able assistance of Joshua Pundit's political guru, ace handicapper and former Democrat presidential candidate Weekend Monkey.

RM: Hello Monkey, and thanks for joining us.

WM: Your pleasure, I'm sure Rob. Howdy Doody, primates!

RM: @##!#. Always the inflated ego...

WM: Hee hee hee! Lemme tell ya, I'm feeling good about tomorrow!

RM: Let me guess. I know you've been campaigning for Elizabeth Warren in Massachusetts... I take it you favor her chances tomorrow.

WM: Oh, you betcha Rob. And that translates into a lot of shekels for yours truly in election action, plus a high level staff position in DC when she gets in.

RM: I should have known. Anyway, you want to do the Senate first or the presidential race?

WM: Let's start at the top and work down.

RM: OK, fire away.

WM: It's really too close to call, but I see it leaning towards President Obama narrowly winning a second term..probably after some controversy among the primates:

It's really pretty simple. I see Romney the Robot narrowly getting frozen out of Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania. And I mean narrowly. If even one state changes, it could go the other way. Let's call it 5-3 Obama.

Ohio is gonna be the poop storm, with a lotta weirdness in Cuyoga and Mahoning Counties that could leave us hanging on the branch for a long time, but in the end it's gonna come down to Ohio. If that goes Obama's way, he wins.Otherwise, Romney the Robot gets in.

RM: So you don't see Romney taking either Pennsylvania or Wisconsin?

WM: Y'know, anything's possible, But if I gotta make a call, I say Obama takes it overall. Especially Ohio, because a lot of the primates have jobs still, unemployment's relatively low, you got the unions and the Cleavland Machine. And they're all organized because of Governor Kasich trying to pull a Scott Walker on the public employee unions and getting his pee pee slapped. (The RNC’s Reince Priebus, from Wisconsin, says the polls were showing Walker down by 7 in the recall election and he won in a cake walk.  He also said that the GOPS ground game for Wisconsin is double what it was in 2004 and 2008… so the Monkey maybe off here!).

RM: Speaking of governors, what did you think of Chris Christie cozying up to Obama and dissing Romney, essentially telling him he wasn't welcome in Jersey to tour the storm areas?

WM: Ah hee hee hee! I got a real laugh outta that! Look, it's simple. Lardass is ticked off because he didn't run, he's looking at 2016 and the only way that opens up for him is if Romney the Robot loses. Simple as that.

RM: Makes sense. I never liked him anyway. The House?

WM: I say it stays ReThug, with maybe 3-5 seats changing hands.

RM: The Senate?

WM: Hee hee! Worst case, my Democrats will probably lose Virginia, North Dakota, Nebraska, Montana. They'll make pickups in Massachusetts and Maine, where the indy guy King will caucus with us Donkeys.Maybe another pickup in Indiana, depending on turnout.And we'll keep Florida.Probably Missouri too.

Pennsylvania and Wisconsin are wild cards. If they go Democrat like I think they will, we get those too. They might end up splitting, one apiece.

The ReThugs make pickups in Virginia, North Dakota, Montana and Nebraska. They'll keep Arizona and Nevada, maybe Indiana.They lose Massachusetts and Maine. They might get either Wisconsin or Pennsylvania, depending.

Bottom line? Including two indies, my Democrats end up with 49 seats maybe 50-51 if we get Indiana and either Wisconsin or Pennsylvania. The ReThugs end up with 49, 48 if they lose Indiana.To get control of the senate, they'd have to hang on to Indiana somehow and get both Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, or maybe Missouri which I don't see happening at all.

RM: You predicted a divided Senate before.

WM: Yup. It could shake out that way. OK, whaddya got?

RM: I see Romney winning.

WM: Cheez, what a surprise!

RM: Hey now...

WM: Alright, alright.

RM: Here's how I see it, but just like with your map, mine is subject to some changes..it really is a pretty close race to predict.

With the economy the way it is, and the other issues of Obama's presidency, I see Romney taking Virginia, Florida, Colorado and North Carolina pretty decisively. I also think he's going to take two of the Big Four in the Midwest, most likely Ohio and Wisconsin, although the last polls I saw that meant anything show Pennsylvania and Michigan tied up. I think there's a very good chance that Ohio and Pennsylvania might switch columns, with Romney taking the Keystone State and Obama getting Ohio by a narrow margin because of the factors you mentioned.Especially with Obama's EPA already salivating publicly at crippling coal for good.

WM: You see Romney taking Iowa and New Hampshire?

RM: Yeah, but with this scenario if he loses them both he still wins.

WM: Yeah, I can see that.You better hope he takes Colorado then,,,,

RM: I think he will. For what it's worth I agree with you Monkey, it's going to come down to the Big Four in the Midwest.Obama has to take both Pennsylvania and Ohio to win.
WM: You see the Elephants keeping the House?

RM: Of course, Monkey. With a maximum loss of 3-5 seats. Which means that even if you're right and Obama does get re-elected, Darrel Issa still has subpoena powers and Obama might wish he lost tomorrow in a couple of years.

WM: Ouchie! You got a point there!

RM: Here's how I see the Senate. OK, the Dems lose Virginia, North Dakota, Montana and Nebraska. I personally think there's an excellent chance of one or two more GOP pickups in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. Maybe Florida if Romney wins decisively enough. I think Tammy Baldwin's lunatic fringe lefty ideas don't play well in the Badger State anywhere outside Madison and Dane County, and there's also the Catholic vote to consider in both PA and Wisconsin. And with Paul Ryan on the ticket, Scott Walker surviving the recall and Wisconsin being RNC head Preibus' home state, I think it's looking pretty good for Romney and for Tommy Thompson.The GOP hangs on to Arizona and Nevada.

The Republicans probably lose Massachusetts and definitely lose Maine. And probably one of either Missouri or Indiana, although I think Mourdock has a shot at surviving in Indiana. So that puts us at between 49 and 52 seats for the GOP, depending on what happens in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Florida, Missouri and Indiana.

I pretty much see the Democrats' scenario the same way you do, including the two indies. I'd like to think the people of Massachusetts have more brains than to put someone like Elizabeth Warren in the Senate -

I have said this a few times here! DO NOT BUY A FORECLOSURE!  They have not been legal, due to the Banks foreclosing on them ILLEGALLY!

I wrote about the Mass. Supreme Court to rule on previous foreclosures back in January of this year.

Now  they are going to rule on another case of a buyers right to the property, that was illegally foreclosed on by a MERS bank.

A lower Massachusetts court had already ruled against the buyer of a foreclosure, saying they had no right to the property, due to being foreclosed on fraudulently by a MERS bank.

That court case is now going to the Supreme Court, as the buyer is trying to keep the property he purchased 3 years ago from the bank.
Imagine if the Supreme Court rules against the buyer, as the lower court has done....... I can see a whole new area of law suits, when buyers start losing their money and property of foreclosures they have purchased.  Besides that, I can't imagine there will be much of a market for foreclosures, as they may become impossible to sell, as no title insurance company will touch them.

Bloomberg is the one even carrying the story, which is amazing they would let people know they may have a huge problem if they have purchased a foreclosure in the past.
This ruling from Massachusetts will be important all around the country.  There are already class actions that have started in a few states for previous foreclosures.  If the Massachusetts Supreme Court rules the buyer of the home has no right to the property fraudulently foreclosed on, we can expect a whole rush of class actions throughout the country against the banks.

I believe we will be seeing Class Action Suits in All the States against MERS and ALL MERS Servicers and Banks this year!  Once that happens, you can be assured ALL Title Insurance companies will not even touch insuring the title of ANY foreclosure!
What does that mean to investors who buy foreclosures?  Means you may possibly be out money and a house after it is all said and done (then you can start your own lawsuits)!  But besides that banks will have trouble even selling foreclosures in the future, if Class Actions start!  Who in their right mind would buy a foreclosure, if there are lawsuits and the all MERS foreclosures were done through FRAUD?!

Yesterday they ruled and have upheld THE BUYER of a piece of property from 3 years ago, has NO RIGHTS TO THE PROPERTY!

On Oct. 18th, 2011 the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court handed down their decision in the FRANCIS J. BEVILACQUA, THIRD vs. PABLO RODRIGUEZ – and in a moment,essentially made foreclosure sales in the commonwealth over the last five years wholly void.

In essence, the ruling upheld that those who had purchased foreclosure properties that had been illegally foreclosed upon (which is virtually all foreclosure sales in the last five years), did not in fact have title to those properties.

Given the fact that more than two-thirds of all real estate transactions in the last five years have also been foreclosed properties, this creates a small problem.

The Massachusetts SJC is one of the most respected high courts in the country, other supreme courts look to these decisions for guidance, and would find it difficult to rule any other way in their own states. It is a precedent. It's an important precedent.

Here are the key components of the Bevilacqua case:

1. In holding that Bevilacqua could not make "something from nothing" (bring an action or even have standing to bring an action, when he had a title worth nothing) the lower land court applied and upheld long-standing principles of conveyance.

2. A foreclosure conducted by a non-mortgagee (which includes basically all of them over the last five years, including the landmark Ibanez case) is wholly void and passes no title to a subsequent transferee (purchasers of foreclosures will be especially pleased to learn of this)

3. Where (as in Bevilacqua) a non-mortgagee records a post-foreclosure assignment, any subsequent transferee has record notice that the foreclosure is simply void.

4. A wholly void foreclosure deed passes no title even to a supposed "bona fide purchaser"

5. The Grantee of an invalid (wholly void) foreclosure deed does not have record title, nor does any person claiming under a wholly void deed, and the decision of the lower land court properly dismissed Bevilacqua's petition.

6. The land court correctly reasoned that the remedy available to Bevilacqua was not against the wrongly foreclosed homeowner but rather against the wrongly foreclosing bank and/or perhaps the servicer (depending on who actually conducted the foreclosure)

When thinking about the implications of Bevilacqua – the importance of point six cannot be overstated.

Principal Banning All Fall Holidays at School… Columbus Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving… and Christmas Has Already Been

Here we go again… It just gets worse every year. Stand-up America!! What holds a society together is its common values, traditions and history; something the secular progressives have been working on for years to refashion or steal  from us.

“The Celebration of Christmas in America is not Just a Christian Holiday,  but a Celebration of our National Past and Our Collective Wishes and Psyche as a Nation!” (See:  God Rest Ye Merry Merchants) And so it is with Thanksgiving, Columbus  Day and Halloween, the are part of collective memory, our past… even with the flaws.  The truth has no agenda and the negatives make us stronger.

You won't see little ghouls and goblins running around one Massachusetts elementary school this Halloween.

The Boston Herald reports that the principal has banned costumes.

The reason?

The school superintendent says Halloween is quote "problematic" for some families due to its connections to witchcraft.

It's not the only holiday on the chopping block.

The school's principal is telling teachers to be careful about celebrating Thanksgiving in their class activities.

All of this comes on the heels of her attack on Columbus Day when she told teachers they could no longer quote: "ignore the atrocities that Christopher Columbus committed against the indigenous peoples."

So, what do you think?

Does the principal have a valid point here or is she going overboard by pushing her own beliefs on teachers and students?

News item October 15, 2011: Massachusetts elementary school principal Anne Foley banned Halloween, Thanksgiving and the Columbus Holiday celebrations because, according to her, they’re insensitive. Her action stirred up considerable outrage and came to US Massachusetts Senator Scott Brown’s attention. He tweeted that political correctness shouldn’t be taken to the extreme and added to allow the Somerville kids enjoy Halloween.

Principal Writes Negative Comments about Christopher Columbus Fall Holiday

According to www.foxnews.com/us/2011/10/15/massachusetts-principal-bans-fall-holidays-says-theyre-insensitive/. Anne Foley claimed that when people were young, they might have been able to claim ignorance of the atrocities that Christopher Columbus committed against the aboriginal peoples, which he did.

US history information about Columbus opening the door to Europeans invading the Americas, according to danielnpaul.com/ChristopherColumbus.html, confirms the fact that Columbus and his crew did terrible things against the aboriginals. Columbus was an Italian. Queen Isabella, who financed his expedition, was Spanish. Columbus is given the credit for discovering the Americas. He anchored his ship by a small island in the Caribbean sea populated by friendly pacifist native people, the Taino. Columbus and his crew pillaged their village. When he returned to Spain, he gave Queen Isabella his stolen booty.

When other European countries heard tales of fabulous wealth in the Americas, they went to the new lands and committed more atrocities.

Principal’s Reasons for Banning Thanksgiving

The Boston Herald reported that Anne Foley sent teachers an email warning them about celebrating Thanksgiving and why people shouldn’t observe it. She wrote that Thanksgiving should no longer be celebrated because many people and Kennedy School’s students celebrating “this particular person,” referring to Columbus, are an insult to the people he annihilated. “We need to be careful around the Thanksgiving Day time as well because of this.” Teachers have already been told not to let students dress up for Halloween.

Thanksgiving is celebrated in the US and Canada. People are taught about the First Thanksgiving which was celebrated by Pilgrims and Wampanoagans in 1621, but history seems to ignore the Native American Pequot Tribe's 1637 Thanksgiving Travesty. US schoolchildren are taught about the first Thanksgiving when Pilgrims and the Wampanoagans, also “Wampanoags,” celebrated their first harvest by giving thanks and feasting. Samoset and Squanto taught the Pilgrims planting and other survival skills, so Pilgrim leader Captain Miles Standish invited them, Chief Massasoit and other Wampanoagans to the three day celebration.

When news spread in England about the New World, more Puritans and others immigrated. They considered the land to be a public domain because there were no fences. Colonists seized land, captured Amer-Indians for slaves and killed others. The Pequot Nation hadn’t agreed to the peace treaty Squanto negotiated and fought back in The Pequot War.

In 1637, over 700 Pequots gathered for their Green Corn Festival. In the predawn hours, they were surrounded by Dutch and English mercenaries who ordered them to come outside. Those who obeyed were killed, while women and children huddled inside the longhouse and were burned alive. The governor of the Massachusetts Bay Colony declared this travesty "A Day of Thanksgiving.”

Colonists and their Amer-Indian allies committed more atrocities. George Washington suggested that one day of “thanksgiving” each year was to be commemorated, instead of celebrating every massacre. Abraham Lincoln decreed Thanksgiving Day to be a legal national holiday.

No Reason Given by Principal for Banning Halloween Costumes

The only mention of Halloween is that Anne Foley banned wearing costumes. Halloween, also called Samhain, pronounced sow-en, is a Pagan holiday. Ancient Pagans Celebrated Hallowe'en, a Fire or Solar Festival as the third and final harvest and honoring the dead. They wore animal pelts to disguise themselves from evil spirits they believed walked on earth that night.

Was Salem's witch hunts and mass hysteria in the 1600s a factor? According to Salem Witch Persecutions Cast, Who Was Who: Victims, 19 people were hanged, one pressed to death because he refused to be tried for witchcraft and four died in prison.

Principals’ Banning Fall Holidays Causes Outrage

Parents told MyFoxBoston they felt Anne Foley was overreacting. A woman said Foley had no right to ban Halloween. Another person said children need to express themselves. Don’t take holidays and fun away from them. A Somerville woman said she didn’t think children shouldn’t be able to celebrate fall holidays.

Superintendant Tony Pierantozzi told The Herald that Halloween is awkward because of its relationship to witchcraft, the first time the subject was mentioned.

Somerville Mayor Joe Curtatone, who has three children at Kennedy, stated that he’s the son of Italian immigrants so Columbus Day is “near and dear” to him. He added that he planned on being in costume at Somerville’s annual Halloween parade, which residents say is one of the largest in the greater Boston area.

A few Kennedy students said they disagreed with the ban. One said it wasn’t right to ban Halloween. Another stated that the bans were “kind of ridiculous” because people should be allowed to celebrate holidays how they want to. People shouldn’t dictate holiday celebrations.

Will Principal’s Banning Fall Holidays have Repercussions?

Anne Foley’s ban on celebrating holidays has become a popular news item. hot-news.US/national/Massachusetts Principal Bans Fall Holidays Says they’re Insensitive, categorized the bans in Education, which has a link to the FoxNews article/video. I’ve read people’s comments about Foley’s bans and have talked to others about them. I haven’t found anyone who supports her actions. I celebrate Columbus Day because he is given credit for discovering of the Americas that paved the way for my Pennsylvania Dutch, Czechoslovak and Welsh ancestors to find freedom in the New Country. Halloween is fun, I’m thankful for bountiful food and I think of generations past. Thanksgiving is a time to be grateful for food shared with loved ones, family, friends and pets.

Only time will tell if there will be repercussions.

Radiation In Massachusetts Rainwater Likely From Japan

BOSTON -- Health officials said Sunday that one sample of Massachusetts rainwater has registered very low concentrations of radiation, most likely from the Japanese nuclear power plant damaged earlier this month by an earthquake and tsunami.

John Auerbach, the Massachusetts commissioner of public health, said that radioiodine-131 found in the sample – one of more than 100 that have been taken around the country – has a short life of only eight days. He said the drinking water supply in the state was unaffected and officials do not expect any health concerns.

Nevada and other Western states also have reported minuscule amounts of radiation, but scientists say those presented no health risks.

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health said the in-state sample was taken in the past week, but they did not say where. The testing is part of a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency network that monitors for radioactivity.

State officials said similar testing was done in California, Pennsylvania, Washington and other states, and showed comparable levels of I-131 in rain.

Massachusetts testing last week of samples from the Quabbin and Wachusett reservoirs showed no detectable levels of I-131, health officials said.

Energy and Environmental Affairs Secretary Richard K. Sullivan Jr. directed the Department of Environmental Protection to collect additional samples for testing from several water bodies across Massachusetts. Results will be available over the next several days.

In Japan, mounting problems, including miscalculated radiation figures and inadequate storage tanks for huge amounts of contaminated water, stymied emergency workers Sunday as they struggled to bring the country's nuclear complex back from the edge of disaster. Workers were trying to remove radioactive water from the nuclear compound and restart the regular cooling systems for the dangerously hot fuel.

Senator-elect Scott Brown, the Republican who upset the political world to wrest the longtime Massachusetts Senate seat of the late Senator Edward Kennedy from the Democrats will be sworn in to office Thursday afternoon.

Brown's swearing-in will give Republicans 41 seats in the upper chamber.

"Once we get his certificate, we expect to swear him in tomorrow afternoon as early as 5 o'clock, which is earlier than he suggested," Jim Manley, spokesman for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nevada, told TheHill.com Wednesday.

The liberal Dems (Progressives) have passed as much legislation and as many appointments since Brown’s election as they could, insisting they needed to wait for the official Certification, even though Mass gave the Senate a temporary certification and the okay to swear him in immediately, as they do and have previously done, including for Teddy Kennedy for this same seat, when it works in their favor.

Senate Bill 810 has unfortunately passed the Senate yesterday on a 22-14 party-line vote.

The measure would create a single-payer, government-controlled health care plan for Californians. The same government that has mismanaged your money now wants to control your health care.

Does anybody believe a state that bleeds red year-after-year could possibly control the costs of health care?

As I said on the Senate floor: This plan is to the Left and radical of ObamaCare. It’s this type of big-government idea that caused an earthquake of an election in Massachusetts in recent weeks. Yet, my liberal colleagues in Sacramento don’t seem to care about the needs or concerns of the people or the state of our economy.

The Orange County Register says the Senate Democrats are “tone deaf” to have revived “a $200-billion, government-run, universal health care scheme to outlaw private insurance and subsidize coverage for millions of Californians.”

The San Diego Union-Tribune calls the plan “appalling on one level and bizarre on another.”

The editorial goes on to say: “It is appalling because it amounts to an in-your-face display of contempt for public sentiment.”

And the Oakland Tribune wrote: “The bill would add a huge public cost and create considerable uncertainty at a time when both the state government and the private sector are struggling for survival.”

SB 810 will now be heard in the Assembly, where I hope the Democrats are in tune with the wishes of the people and in touch with the realities of our economy.

You really have to shake your head, don’t you?? The majority of Americans do not want socialized single-payer healthcare, from the federal government or the state. California is bankrupt already, and if we pass this disaster we will be paying twice, like Massachusetts… who just elected Scott Brown to say no to government controlled HC of any kind and no to a public option, no to single payer and no to paying twice.

Please call, fax and visit your rep’s local and Sacramento offices and tell them NO, NO, NO. And when you are done please call your Federal Congressman and Boxer and Feinstein and tell them the same thing about ObamaCare.

Think about it, California can’t pay its bills and is threatening layoffs and reduction of services everywhere and now they are voting in socialized medicine??? This is the perfect example of what is wrong with liberal politics, the Progressive movement and what happens when you lose all Common Sense!!

About 17% of Californians are either unemployed or underemployed… just think about it?!?

The Health Care Bill Is Dead

And other repercussions of Scott Brown's victory in Massachusetts.

The impact of Republican Scott Brown’s capture of the Massachusetts Senate seat held for decades by Teddy Kennedy will be both immediate and powerful. It’s safe to say no single Senate election in recent memory is as important as this one.

Here are a few of the repercussions:

1) President Obama is weakened. For the third time in three months, he couldn’t deliver for a Democratic candidate. Last November, he abetted the defeat of Democrat Creigh Deeds in the Virginia governor’s race and failed to prevent Democrat Jon Corzine’s ouster as New Jersey governor. Now in Massachusetts, his appearance for Martha Coakley was a bust. A president who can’t aid his party’s candidates loses influence with Congress and inside his party.

That’s not all. Obama’s agenda, chiefly health care, took a beating in Massachusetts. In fact, it was the chief cause of Coakley’s defeat. Without the intrusion of national politics, she would have defeated Brown. But Obama and Democrats in Washington have created a hostile environment for Democratic candidates even in liberal and Democrat-dominated Massachusetts. So there’s a double whammy for Obama: he can’t help if he personally shows up to campaign on behalf of Democrats and his policies are ruining their chances of being elected.

2) Independents are lost to Democrats, at least for the time being. In 2006 and 2008, they fled Republicans in large numbers and facilitated Democratic triumphs for the House, Senate, and White House. Now they’ve staged a mass migration to the Republican camp. In Massachusetts, where they make up half the electorate, they overwhelmingly voted for Brown. This followed the 2-to-1 advantage they gave to Republicans in Virginia and New Jersey last year.

Democrats may win them back, but not if they stick with the liberal policies--especially the unbridled spending and $1 trillion deficits--of Obama and congressional Democrats. These are killer issues among independents. Perhaps it will take another unpopular Republican administration in Washington to push them toward Democrats again. And that is years away.

3) In the midterm election in November, Republicans are poised to win 25 or so House seats. But it will take a net of 40 to take control the House. For this, they need more open Democratic seats, which are easier to win than incumbent-held seats. Brown’s victory in Massachusetts is a good bet to scare many more Democrats into retirement.

If a Republican can win in Massachusetts, why not in Missouri or Pennsylvania or a solidly Democratic state like New York? Last week, Democrat Vic Snyder of Arkansas announced his retirement, citing the political climate as the reason. It’s an anti-Democratic climate.

4) Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell is the new king of Capitol Hill. His skill in keeping 40 Republicans united against Democratic health care reform was masterful, and it wasn’t easy. A number of Republican senators are drawn to co-sponsoring or at least voting for Democratic bills. Not this time.

By keeping his minority together, McConnell put enormous pressure on Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, who had to keep every Democrat in line to gain the 60 votes need to halt a Republican filibuster. On health care, it meant he had to make unseemly deals with a host of senators, most egregiously in the Medicaid payoff to Nebraska to appease Senator Ben Nelson. Reid got the votes, but the deals were political poison.

5) Oh, yes. The health care bill, ObamaCare, is dead with not the slightest prospect of resurrection. Brown ran to be the 41st vote for filibuster and now he is just that. Democrats have talked up clever strategies to pass the bill in the Senate despite Brown, but they won’t fly. It’s one thing for ObamaCare to be rejected by the American public in poll after poll. But it becomes a matter of considerably greater political magnitude when ObamaCare causes the loss of a Senate race in the blue state of Massachusetts.

Then there’s the House, where Speaker Nancy Pelosi insists some version of ObamaCare will be approved and soon. She’s not kidding. She’s simply wrong. At best, she has the minimum 218 votes for passage. After the Massachusetts fiasco, however, there’s sure to be erosion. How many Democrats in Republican-leaning districts want to vote for ObamaCare, post-Massachusetts? Not many.

Pelosi met with House Democrats yesterday to tell them how the negotiations on a compromise health care bill between the House and Senate were going. As she spoke, one Democratic member whispered to another, “It’s like talking about your date on Friday, but the date’s in the emergency room.” ObamaCare went into the emergency room in Massachusetts and didn’t make it out alive.

January 19 was an amazing day for grass-roots conservatism. But the Beltway GOP should be warned against unjustified triumphalism. They were late to the game. Activists still haven’t, and won’t, forget the massive amounts of money Washington, D.C. Republicans wasted on Dede Scozzafava. And Scott Brown quite noticeably didn’t mention the word “Republican” once during his prepared remarks.

The GOP brand is still damaged. And instant exploitation of the Brown win — see the NRSC website here — isn’t going to help matters. As I’ve said for many years, the Republican Party needs to clean its own house before it demands that the Democrats clean theirs.

The Brown victory was very clearly a strike against machine politics of all kinds and business as usual in Washington. That includes top-down meddling by tired old GOP operatives. The party bosses have tried to install their preferred Senate candidates in Florida, Colorado, and California. They will use Brown’s win to argue for more “mooooooderation.” As I wrote yesterday in my analysis of how Brown unified a center-right-indie coalition, that is not the lesson of the Massachusetts miracle.

Wake up and smell the Tea Party leaves.
