A terrifying new concept has recently reemerged in the global climatology fight and the clarion call is heralded by a book that Zombie just read: The Weather Conspiracy: The Coming of the New Ice Age.

So, let me get this straight… In the 1970′s, we were all going to freeze to death in a new ice age. In the 2000′s, we were going to be baked alive because of global warming. Now – old is new again and we are going to freeze to death once more. Oh, for crap’s sake, make up your minds, why don’t ya? More death, death, doom and death. How trite.

Just another ploy to spread global Marxism – we just HAVE TO do the following (rinse, repeat and gag):

· Increase our reliance on alternative energy sources and stop using so much oil and other carbon-based fuels;

· Adopt energy-efficient practices in all aspects of our lives, however inconvenient;

· Impose punitive taxes on inefficient or polluting activities to discourage them;

· Funnel large sums of money from developed nations like the U.S. to Third World nations;

· In general embrace all environmental causes.

Sound familiar? Al Gore rides again in perpetuity evidently and has mated in an unholy alliance with Cass Sunstein and Progressives worldwide to force us into one global collective hell. Not surprised in the least. Zombie’s view of the whole scenario says it best:

In order to weaken and eventually destroy the existing industrialized nations, we must devise an ecological “crisis” so severe that only voluntary economic suicide can solve it; and if this first crisis doesn’t materialize as planned, then devise another, and another, even if they flatly contradict our previous claims.

These elitists will not stop until they have a crisis that we all must submit to so they can have their way with us and grab the power and fortune they have dreamed of, while putting the riffraff worldwide in their place as subjugates once and for all. A New World Order of slaves and a ruling class – ride the Wayback Machine to medieval times, only on steroids with a heaping side of eugenics for all.

The 2012 Check List for America’s Survival

Many people make resolutions to start the year, but I think a list of things that must be done to protect and preserve the Republic should be tallied…

1. President Obama must be defeated in 2012 and the obstructionist Democratic Party must lose power in the Senate to ensure both houses of Congress will be Republican and in a position to initiate real change.
2. The Environmental Protection Agency must be reined in with increased Congressional oversight and legislative limits on its rule-making capacity. Having fulfilled its 1970 mandate to clean the nation’s air and water, it should be scaled back to the maintenance of these functions.
3. Americans, despite the administration’s efforts to redefine and distract us, must keep clearly in mind the threat of Islam to the nation and the world. A Middle East in turmoil lays ahead for 2012.
4. To jump-start the economy, taxes and spending must be reduced across the board. A tax on consumption, rather than income would be a good start. Only 49% of Americans currently pay income taxes, the lowest in decades.
5. Obamacare must be repealed should the Supreme Court fail to rule that the Commerce Clause takes precedence over its requirement that Americans must purchase health insurance or be fined for not doing so.
6. A serious restructuring of Social Security and Medicare must be undertaken. Older Americans who have paid into the system—it is involuntary—must be ensured their benefits will be paid, but younger citizens should have the freedom and responsibility to structure their own retirement and health plans.
7. Access to the nation’s vast reserves of coal, natural gas, and oil should be increased and encouraged. Oil companies should be encouraged to build more refineries via tax credits and removal of “environmental” obstacles.
8. Congress needs to identify and fund the repair to the nation’s aging infrastructure.
9. Utilities should be encouraged via tax credits and other incentives to expand the national “grid” for the distribution of electricity.
10. Term limits for Senators and Representatives should be added to the U.S. Constitution in the same fashion the presidency is limited. Salaries, pensions, and perks should be capped. A permanent political class is a danger to citizens.
11. The Federal government should be downsized with the elimination of the Departments of Education, Labor, and Energy, along with the Environmental Protection Agency. These powers should be returned to the individual States. (10th Amendment)
12. The nation’s military which has been significantly reduced in size and structure should be expanded with attention to the upgrade and increase of its naval fleet and aircraft.
13. Congress should reject and rescind all legislation based on “global warming” or “climate change” as the former has been demonstrated to be a hoax and the latter is meaningless insofar as the climate is beyond the control of humans.
14. The United States should significantly reduce its contribution to the United Nations and refuse to ratify any of its treaties.
15. Tort reform should be instituted to reduce the costs of health care.
16. The corporate tax rate should be significantly reduced from its present rate, one of the highest in the world, to increase expansion, new jobs, and competitiveness.
17. Public service unions should be illegal. The federal government does not permit such unionization and neither should states.
18. National Public Radio should no longer be funded. The “government entities” of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac should be eliminated.
19. The federal government should be restricted or significantly limited from the acquisition of more of the nation’s landmass.
20. Strenuous efforts must be undertaken to reduce the national debt and deficit. A devalued dollar impoverishes everyone.

These are just a few changes which, if implemented, would go a long way to reducing the ills associated with a federal government grown too large, subject to crony capitalism, and corruption.

As John Adams said, “Let us disappoint the men who are raising themselves upon the ruin of this Country.”

ARE YOU READY TO PAY $50 FOR A 100-WATT BULB?

NEW YORK (AP) — Two leading makers of lighting products are showcasing LED bulbs that are bright enough to replace energy-guzzling 100-watt light bulbs set to disappear from stores in January.

Their demonstrations at the LightFair trade show in Philadelphia this week mean that brighter LED bulbs will likely go on sale next year, but after a government ban takes effect.

The new bulbs will also be expensive — about $50 each — so the development may not prevent consumers from hoarding traditional bulbs.

The technology in traditional “incandescent” bulbs is more than a century old. Such bulbs waste most of the electricity that feeds them, turning it into heat. The 100-watt bulb, in particular, produces so much heat that it‘s used in Hasbro’s Easy-Bake Oven.

To encourage energy efficiency, Congress passed a law in 2007 mandating that bulbs producing 100 watts worth of light meet certain efficiency goals, starting in 2012. Conventional light bulbs don’t meet those goals, so the law will prohibit making or importing them. The same rule will start apply to remaining bulbs 40 watts and above in 2014. Since January, California has already banned stores from restocking 100-watt incandescent bulbs.

Creating good alternatives to the light bulb has been more difficult than expected, especially for the very bright 100-watt bulbs. Part of the problem is that these new bulbs have to fit into lamps and ceiling fixtures designed for older technology.

Compact fluorescents are the most obvious replacement, but they have drawbacks. They contain a small amount of toxic mercury vapor, which is released if they break or are improperly thrown away. They last longer than traditional bulbs but not as long as LEDs. Brighter models are bulky and may not fit in existing fixtures.

Another new lighting technology, organic light-emitting diodes, or OLEDs, has had problems reaching mass production. OLEDs are glowing sheets or tiles, rather than pinprick light sources, as LEDs are. They’re used as vibrant color screens for smartphones, particularly from Samsung Electronics Co.

But making OLEDs that are big, bright, cheap and long-lasting enough for use as light sources has proved difficult, in part because they use chemicals that are sensitive to oxygen and spoil unless sealed very carefully.

Acuity Brands Inc., an Atlanta-based maker of light fixtures, will be showing some OLED panels at the show. They will go on sale next year, but the price will likely make them technology showpieces rather than candidates for everyday lighting.

LEDs are efficient, durable and produced in great quantities, but they’re still expensive. An LED bulb can contain a dozen light-emitting diodes, or tiny semiconductor chips, which cost about $1 each.

The big problem with LEDs is that although they don’t produce as much heat as incandescent bulbs, the heat they do create shortens the lifespan and reduces the efficiency of the chips. Cramming a dozen chips together in a tight bulb-shaped package that fits in today’s lamps and sockets makes the heat problem worse. The brighter the bulb, the bigger the problem is.

The most powerful pear-shaped LED bulbs in stores today — the kind that fits existing lamps — produce light equivalent to a 60-watt bulb, though there are more powerful ones for directional or flood lighting.

Osram Sylvania, a unit of Germany’s Siemens AG, said it has overcome the heat problem and will be showing a pear-shaped 100-watt-equivalent LED bulb this week. It doesn’t have a firm launch date, but it usually shows products about a year before they hit store shelves.

Lighting Sciences Group Corp., a Satellite Beach, Fla.-based company that specializes in LED lighting, will be showing several 100-watt-equivalent prototypes, including some that solve the problem of cooling the LEDs by using microscopic devices that move air over the chips, like miniature fans.

Before the 100-watters, there will be 75-watters on the shelves this year. Osram Sylvania will be selling them at Lowe’s starting in July. Royal Philips Electronics NV, the world’s biggest lighting maker, will have them in stores late this year for $40 to $45.

However, 60-watt bulbs are the big prize, since they’re the most common. There are 425 million incandescent light bulbs in the 60-watt range in use in the U.S. today, said Zia Eftekhar, the head of Philips’ North American lighting division. The energy savings that could be realized by replacing them with 10-watt LED bulbs is staggering.

To stimulate LED development, the federal government has instituted a $10 million “L Prize” for an energy-efficient replacement for the 60-watt bulb. Philips is so far the only entrant in testing, and Eftekhar expects the company to win it soon. But Lighting Sciences Group plans its own entry, which it will demonstrate at the trade show.

Philips has been selling a 60-watt-equivalent bulb at Home Depot since December that’s quite similar to the one submitted to the contest. But it’s slightly dimmer, consumes 2 watts too much power and costs $40, whereas the L Prize target is $22. Sylvania sells a similar LED bulb at Lowe’s, also for $40.

However, LED prices are coming down quickly. The DoE expects a 60-watt equivalent LED bulb to cost $10 by 2015, putting them within striking range of the price of a compact fluorescent bulb.

Bob Karlicek, the director of the Smart Lighting Research Center at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y., thinks that price is achievable.

But, he said, “it’s not necessarily clear to people in the lighting industry that LED chips were ever meant to go into a bulb.”

What’s really needed, he said, is a new approach to lighting — new fixtures and lamps that spread out the LEDs, avoiding the heat problem.

Rino Gingrich is Done Before He Started

Gingrich Backs Obamacare's Individual Mandate Requiring Health Insurance

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said Sunday that he strongly supports a federal mandate requiring citizens to buy health insurance – a position that has been rejected by many Republicans, including several who likely will be running against him for the Republican presidential nomination.

Appearing on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Gingrich told host David Gregory that he continues to advocate for a plan he first called for in the early 1990s as a Congressman, which requires every uninsured citizen to purchase or acquire health insurance.

Gregory played a clip of Gingrich speaking during an appearance on Meet the Press in October 1993:

“I am for people, individuals -- exactly like automobile insurance -- individuals having health insurance and being required to have health insurance. And I am prepared to vote for a voucher system which will give individuals, on a sliding scale, a government subsidy so we insure that everyone as individuals have health insurance.”

Gregory asked Gingrich if he would criticize GOP presidential rival Mitt Romney, whose "Romneycare" health program enacted during his time as Governor in Massachusetts mandated that all uninsured purchase health insurance.

Gingrich replied he would not make it an issue in the campaign and said he agreed with key aspects of Romneycare.

"I agree that all of us have a responsibility to pay--help pay for health care," Gingrich said, adding, "I've said consistently we ought to have some requirement that you either have health insurance or you post a bond ..."

Gingrich also admitted that his proposal is a "variation" of the individual mandate, a key component of the Obamacare legislation President Obama signed into law in 2010.

The position staked out by Gingrich appears to be at odds with leading conservative critics of Obamacare, who argue that the law requiring citizens to purchase a private insurance policy is not constitutional.

The Obama administration is currently facing three lawsuits arguing that the federal mandate is unconstitutional, including one filed by a coalition of 26 states.

The issue is on track for a Supreme Court decision in the summer of 2012, which would make it a likely hot-button topic heading into the elections.

Conservative GOP critics like Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli say the mandate is unconstitutional because although Congress can regulate commerce, it can’t require people to engage in a particular “economic activity” just because they live in the U.S.

Conservative judicial experts have also taken exception to the claim made by Gingrich and supporters of the Obamacare law that mandating health insurance is the same as the government requirement to purchase car insurance, noting that driving a car is a privilege provided by states and not a constitutional right.

Cucinelli says that "buying auto insurance is voluntary, since you are only required to purchase it if you choose to drive on public roads. But buying health insurance under the new federal law is not voluntary, as you are required to buy it just by virtue of the fact that you are breathing. The federal government has never before in history exercised its regulatory power to require someone to buy a product or service as a condition of residence in the United States."
Gingrich, though, seemed to disagree with that notion on Sunday, though he was quick to point out the differences between his plan and the federal health law.

“In, in the first place, Obama basically is trying to replace the entire insurance system, creating state exchanges, building a Washington-based model, creating a federal system,” Gingrich told NBC’s David Gregory. “I believe all of us--and this is going to be a big debate--I believe all of us have a responsibility to help pay for healthcare …"
Romney has not come under fire for not disowning his health care plan, which has caused private health care insurance rates to skyrocket as patient services have declined in Massachusetts.

Gingrich's position quickly came under fire from several conservative blogs on Sunday.

“He tried to distinguish his mandate from the Obama mandate, but with little success,” the American Federalist Journal wrote on Sunday.
“Sandbagging your fellow Republicans in Congress and offering tacit support for a key (unconstitutional) component of Obamacare is a very strange way to begin a run in a Republican primary. Not a strong start.”

The Wall Street Journal called Gingrich’s description of an ideal healthcare plan with mandates a “pretty good description of what the Democratic Congress passed into law last year."

The Journal continued: "Beginning in 2014, most Americans who don't have insurance will be required to pay a fee, with many, depending on income, getting subsidies to help buy coverage through state-based exchanges.”

The conservative website Red State said Gingrich “won’t exactly endear him to the Tea Party crowd or the reform minded movement sweeping the GOP.”

So now we are going to fix Goldman Sachs to set us up for Cap and Trade… Which will be the Cornerstone to a New World Order… right now being touted as a new monetary global order. The machinery: through a Franklin Raines (Pres of Fannie Mae) plan.

Nov 7, 2006 – Fannie Mae buys Carbon Trading Mechanism for future ClimateGate mandates through bundling… exactly what they are now going after Goldman Sachs for.

And who was involved in 2006? Obama, Al Gore, Goldman Sachs Mgmt… most of which now work in the White House…

Why this Goldman Sachs upheaval now??  Somebody has to take the heat and divert us so they can pass the Wealth and Finance reform Bill – S3217, which if it passes will be the first step toward Cap and Trade and then global government.  It will also give Congress the ability to pass never-ending bailouts.

The White House and lame stream media will try to sell you that the Republicans are the party of NO on this… but if you understand you will realize that they are fighting to protect and save us!!  They won a small victory today, but the Progressive Dems in power are focused on passing this and will press on doing whatever they need to, to pass it, just like with HC.  Remember what Pelosi said… the takeover of HC and our kids through student loans and funding was step 1…

Every day we are finding out another frightening thing that was written into ObamaCare… the last mega bill that Congress didn’t read.  Don’t let them do it again!!  Several Senators already admitted today that they again had not read the bill.

Spread the Wealth with Finance Reform S-3217

If they read it, they will see that REDISTRIBUTION OF WEALTH somehow made its way into the bill.  We all know that grants given by the government are done so with taxpayer dollars.  It’s free money for the recipient of the grant.  If this bill passes, taxpayer dollars will be provided to low- and moderate-income individuals “to meet the financial needs of such individuals”; they’ll also receive products and services which include “small-dollar value loans”.

First, who decides what “small-dollar value” is?  Perhaps those who are passing trillion dollar legislation in the blink of an eye?  After all, it’s just taxpayer dollars.  Second, isn’t that how we got into the mortgage mess… low- and moderate-income individuals being given home loans they couldn’t afford?

Page 1401:

SEC. 1204. EXPANDED ACCESS TO MAINSTREAM FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS.

(a) IN GENERAL.—The Secretary is authorized to establish a multiyear program of grants, cooperative agreements, financial agency agreements, and similar contracts or undertakings to promote initiatives designed—

(1) to enable low- and moderate-income individuals to establish one or more accounts in a federally insured depository institution that are appropriate to meet the financial needs of such individuals; and

(2) to improve access to the provision of accounts, on reasonable terms, for low- and moderate income individuals.

 

Page 1402:

(2) ACCOUNT ACTIVITIES.—Subject to regulations prescribed by the Secretary, an eligible entity may, in participating in a program established under subsection (a), offer or provide to low- and moderate-income individuals products and services relating to accounts, including—

(A) small-dollar value loans; and

(B) financial education and counseling relating to conducting transactions in and managing accounts.

 

REDISTRIBUTION OF WEALTH also involves “THE BUREAU”.  I assume this means they’ll have insight into residential and commercial accounts since they will “assess the distribution”… “across income and minority level census tracts”.  That’s as comforting as knowing they “may use the data for any other purpose as permitted by law.”

Page 1262:

(d) BUREAU USE.—The Bureau—

(1) shall use the data on branches and deposit accounts acquired under this section as part of the examination of a covered person as part of an examination under this title;

(2) shall assess the distribution of residential and commercial accounts at such financial institution across income and minority level of census tracts; and

(3) may use the data for any other purpose as permitted by law.

Perpetual use of taxpayer dollars for banks that need it is conveniently located on pages 1365 to 1371.

Page 503 tells us about the G20 nations’ agreement that all standardized over-the-counter derivative contracts are to be cleared through central counterparties by the end of calendar year 2012 at the latest.  Is there anything coincidental about that timeframe?

Page 816 will look out for all of us by the Comptroller General who will consider “the role of financial planners in providing advice regarding the management of financial resources, including investment planning, income tax planning, education planning, retirement planning, estate planning and risk management.”  Wow!  They’ve got everything covered for us!  Maybe they’ll require us to buy a student loan whether we want it or not.  Déjà vu – didn’t they do that with healthcare?  Isn’t it great that they’ll nudge us to purchase financial products which they decide we need?

Pages 1060 and 1061 are going to create an “Office of Financial Literacy” and implement “initiatives intended to education and empower consumers to make better informed financial decisions.”  The Earned Income Credit, which provides EXTRA taxpayer dollars for low-income individuals via their tax returns (aka: free money from taxpayers), along with “Federal Benefits” (aka: free money from taxpayers) is included for “wealth building”.  This will surely help our government steal from those who work hard to earn a living so that they can give it to those who may not.  After all, everyone’s got to have an equal amount, right?

Glenn is very concerned because Al Gore has suddenly vanished from the public scene. It's almost like he's trying to lay low as the country is pounded with massive snowstorms, BUT he could have also been abducted by some deranged psycho. Speaking of deranged, check out this clip from MSNBC where a reporter explains that all the snow doesn't mean less global warming - it is proof of global warming. ( Transcript, Insider Audio) Ironically, President Obama picked this week to announce the formation of a new global warming bureaucracy within the Department of Commerce. The news conference announcing this new “climate service" had to be canceled due to our D.C. area blizzard.

How out of touch is the radical environmental movement that, sadly, has a deep hold on the Obama Administration?

The Department of Commerce news release announcing the new “climate service" actually said the following, "More and more Americans are witnessing the impacts of climate change in their own backyards..."

There's more. The release, paid for with your tax dollars, goes on to say that "People are searching for relevant and timely information about these changes to inform decision making about VIRTUALLY ALL ASPECTS OF THEIR LIVE)." (emphasis added)

Despite the fact that a Pew Foundation poll showed Americans rank "combating global warming" dead last on their list of priorities, President Obama used his recent State of the Union speech to once again demand passage of his cap-and-trade legislation. They even wrote a blank line in the federal budget labeled "allowance for climate policy" to keep secret how much they plan to tax and spend via cap-and-trade. So, the cap-and-trade fight is not over.

Even worse, Obama is not waiting for Congress. The president is now intent on using the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to bypass Congress and move full steam ahead to enforce the Left's global warming agenda.

Soon after President Obama's election, this un-elected bureaucracy issued a "finding" that greenhouse gas emissions endanger human health and welfare and therefore should be regulated by the EPA. Now, the EPA is moving to impose job-killing, freedom-encroaching regulations and mandates on American businesses - at a time when our economy is desperately struggling to create jobs and rebuild prosperity. Over 40,000 AFP activists put official comments in at the EPA on this issue. But to win, we will have to convince Congress to step in and stop the EPA.

Fortunately, there are now serious bipartisan efforts underway in both the House and Senate to do just that - block the EPA's outrageous global warming power grab and return the power to make our country's laws to Congress. Muddled thinking from the Department of Homeland Security

On February 1, Janet Napolitano’s Department of Homeland Security released a 108-page report to Congress, the Quadrennial Homeland Security Review Report. Subtitled “A Strategic Framework for a Secure Homeland”, a quick glance at the report left me questioning whether the DHS is more serious about Homeland Security than they are about advancing Obama Administration policy goals.

The following item is in a bullet list of threats to America’s national interests (p. 7):

• Dependence on fossil fuels and the threat of global climate change that can open the United States to disruptions and manipulations in energy supplies and to changes in our natural environment on an unprecedented scale. Climate change is expected to increase the severity and frequency of weather-related hazards, which could, in turn, result in social and political destabilization, international conflict, or mass migrations.

If there’s a Smithsonian exhibit on Muddled Thinking and Bureaucratic Gobbledegook, that paragraph belongs in it.

“Dependence on fossil fuels … can open the United States to disruptions and manipulations in energy supplies…” Ms. Napolitano, it is not our dependence on fossil fuels that is the problem, it is our dependence on foreign sources of crude oil and the Administration’s determination to exacerbate the problem by limiting domestic access and punishing small domestic producers. While America probably will never be self-sufficient in energy, we could be a lot less dependent of foreign sources of crude if we 1) explored more domestically, and 2) relied more on natural gas.

If, as you say, disruptions and manipulation of crude oil supply threaten our national interest, then it’s time to start doing something about that threat. Even under the most optimistic assumptions for growth of wind and solar energy, we’ll be using more oil, gas and coal thirty years from now than we use today.

Then there’s Climate Change. No need here to belabor the myriad scandals, conflicts of interest and lapses of judgment that have plagued the Climate Change community of late.

“Climate change is expected to increase the severity and frequency of weather-related hazards…”

We’ve all become conditioned to this blather to the point where we hardly notice. We have, after all, experienced a “hockey stick”, haven’t we, along with an increasing trend inhurricanes and tornadoes?

Hmmm. Not much of a trend there. This graph just considers landfalling hurricanes. Maybe if we look at total hurricanes, landfalling or not, in more detail:

This graph doesn’t include 2009 (which I blogged about here), a rather puny year for storms, even counting a late November storm and an extratropical storm in the North Atlantic that really shouldn’t have counted in the statistics.

OK, there must be a trend in tornadoes:

Hmmm, again. There’s a trend, alright, but it seems like it’s going the wrong way.

Ms. Napolitano, it seems as though your party has a bad habit of taking a government agency with a worthwhile goal (in this case, the critical goal of Homeland Security), and confusing the mission with a mishmash of other incidental policy issues and distractions.

• Our use of fossil fuels does not threaten our security.

• There is no evidence of an increasing trend in the number or severity of storms.

• ManBearPig is not going to kill us all in our beds

Now, please get back to the serious business of securing our borders and keeping out the bad guys who would do our country real harm.

L: [Phone rings. It’s Doug Casey, whose gravelly, “Lobo, let’s talk!” always makes me smile.] Hi Doug! What’s on your mind?

Doug: Global warming. People like my fanatical neighbors here in Aspen seem perfectly willing to undo centuries of progress because they are completely delusional about global warming. The People’s Republic of Aspen is an epicenter of political correctness.

L: Don’t hold back, Doug, tell me what you really think.

Doug: [Chuckles] Global warming is the most prominent form of mass hysteria raging across the world today. Kids in school these days are almost afraid to breathe, because it will “increase their carbon footprint.” It’s quite amazing, the way carbon, the element all life is based on, has replaced plutonium as the enemy-element. It’s as if the chattering classes are making war on the periodic table of the elements.

Meanwhile, they’ve been changing the cry from “global warming” to “climate change” because there’s so little evidence there’s actually any warming going on. I believe that as little as a decade from now, global warming will be recognized as one of the greatest swindles in world history. It has so little scientific basis, it can only rationally be considered a political scam.

L: If that’s true, will the scam ever be revealed? There was a silly movie — I believe it was called “The Day After Tomorrow” — in which global warming caused the world to suddenly freeze over. If people are willing to think that’s possible, and the only thing certain is that things will change, and any change can be blamed on people, perhaps the con job can be maintained indefinitely. It could become a perpetual guilt trip aimed at the population, just as useful as the one certain churches used for centuries to control people.

Doug: Yes. I think Roseanne Rosannadanna of Saturday Night Live said it best: If it’s not one thing, it’s another. It’s always something.
There’s a professional class of hysterics in the world. They are the same type of people who were walking around in the Middle Ages in sack-cloth, throwing ashes on themselves, saying that the world was going to come to an end.

The world will come to an end, of course, maybe even before the sun dies in about five billion years. But these people have no perspective at all. They don’t realize that the earth is just an insignificant ball of dirt, in a nothing/nowhere star system, in a nothing/nowhere galaxy — of which there are billions, each containing billions and billions of stars. And that’s just in this universe. There’s reason to believe that there’s an almost infinite number of universes like ours, with new ones being created virtually every second.

And these people are worried about changes in the biosphere of this one, tiny little planet. To me, it makes no sense. But dropping from the sublime, cosmic scale down to the local level, it’s still completely ridiculous.

L: Okay, let’s talk about that. What are the facts? How ridiculous is fear of climate change?

Doug: Contrary to the blatantly untrue statements these people make about the science being “settled,” if the science indicates anything at all, it indicates that anthropogenic global warming is not significant. Remember, the question is not so much whether there is any warming — which is another question — but whether human activity is a major, or even significant, contributing factor to global warming.

Of course men can have an effect on the planet. We have wiped out numerous species that we know about, just in historic times, like the dodo, the passenger pigeon. And we almost did in the North American bison. Of course we have an impact, and people do make mistakes. It’s unfortunate. And because of the butterfly effect (because of quantum effects, tiny changes can have huge consequences, such as a butterfly flapping its wings on one side of the world resulting in a hurricane on the other side), humans could have a big effect on climate change — but so could everything else.

The point is that there are other factors that have orders of magnitude greater impacts on the earth’s climate, things that are tens, hundreds, and thousands of times more important to the climate than anything mankind can do — perhaps even including a major nuclear war.

Fear is being used by the political class as an excuse to accumulate more power and self-importance — and collect a lot more taxes to support their agenda. Instead of being stampeded into the dark fantasy, we should focus on increasing our wealth and our knowledge. Eventually, mankind’s fate will depend on our technological advancement. Nature teaches us — not that many environmentalists listen — that we need to colonize the rest of the solar system, and beyond. Mankind must diversify, so all our eggs aren’t in one planetary basket.

But as an aside, I have to say I’m not sure I care if mankind is going to survive — I’m not sure why anyone should care, since most of us aren’t going to live more than three score and ten years anyway. Perhaps the world ends when we end… Mankind’s future seems beyond any individual’s concern, at least beyond the lifespan of your immediate friends and family. Too much worrying about things beyond your control can turn you into a busybody.

L: You’re speaking as one with no children. Having children, I have a different view on that.

Doug: How about your great-great-grandchildren, whom you’ll probably never meet?

L: I’m not so sure about that. Life is already longer than it has ever been in history, and medical technology keeps advancing. And that’s not even getting into nanotechnology. I believe my generation may live for centuries, aside from violent death and acute, fatal illnesses.

Doug: Well, I’m sympathetic to that view. But the morality of caring for one’s posterity is a philosophical issue we can perhaps discuss another day. For now, I’ll say that I don’t like to think of myself as a survival machine for my genes — so I don’t give a damn what happens to my genes. I have my own plans. The consideration I would have for my children, if I did have any, would be reserved for those who earned it as individuals, not just because they’re my children.

The biggest unrealities are Al Gore’s lies. The fact that the Copenhagen Conference was held in freezing temperatures and that Obama had to leave their to make sure he could land in DC before one of the biggest storms in DC and East Coast history ever hit, really kind of says it all. There have been record low temperatures all over the US throughout the late Fall and the Christmas Season of 2009. Thanks to all who have prayed for God to intercede to stop the Copenhagen Treaty. I don’t think He could be yelling much louder.

So when do we stop the circus, stop these ridiculous UN sponsored meetings and stop throwing money that we don’t have at a problem that doesn’t exist… manmade global warming???

The Day Global Warming Stood Still

Climate Change: As scientists confirm the earth has not warmed at all in the past decade, others wonder how this could be and what it means for Copenhagen. Maybe Al Gore can Photoshop something before December.

It will be a very cold winter of discontent for the warm-mongers. The climate show-and-tell in Copenhagen next month will be nothing more than a meaningless carbon-emitting jaunt, unable to decide just whom to blame or how to divvy up the profitable spoils of climate change hysteria.

The collapse of the talks coupled with the decision by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to put off the Kerry-Boxer cap-and-trade bill, the Senate's version of Waxman-Markey, until the spring thaw has led Oklahoma Sen. James Inhofe, the leading Republican on the Environment and Public Works Committee, to declare victory over Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., and the triumph of observable fact over junk science.

"I proudly declare 2009 as the 'Year of the Skeptic,' the year in which scientists who question the so-called global warming consensus are being heard," Inhofe said to Boxer in a Senate speech. "Until this year, any scientist, reporter or politician who dared raise even the slightest suspicion about the science behind global warming was dismissed and repeatedly mocked."

Inhofe added: "Today I have been vindicated."

The Ada (Oklahoma) Evening News quotes Inhofe: "So when Barbara Boxer, John Kerry and all the left get up there and say, 'Yes. We're going to pass a global warming bill,' I will be able to stand up and say, 'No, it's over. Get a life. You lost. I won,'" Inhofe said.

Now we have the German publication Der Spiegel, which is rapidly becoming the house organ for climate hysteria, weighing in again with the sad news that the earth does not have a fever so we really don't have to throw out the baby with the rising bath water.

In an article titled, "Climatologists Baffled By Global Warming Time-Out," author Gerald Traufetter leads off with the observation: "Climatologists are baffled as to why average global temperatures have stopped rising over the last 10 years." They better figure it out, Der Spiegel warns, because "billions of euros are at stake in the negotiations."

We are told in sad tones that "not much is happening with global warming at the moment" and that "it even looks as though global warming could come to a standstill this year." But how can it be that the earth isn't following all those computer models? Is the earth goddess Gaia herself a climate change "denier"?

The article gloomily notes that a few weeks ago Britain's Hadley Centre for Climate Prediction and Research pointed out that the earth had in fact only warmed 0.07 degree Celsius from 1999 to 2008 and not by the 0.2 degree Celsius predicted by the U.N.'s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.

An even more inconvenient truth, according to the British experts, is that when their figures are adjusted for two naturally occurring climate phenomena, El Nino and La Nina, the resulting temperature trend is reduced to 0.0 degree Celsius. No, that's not a typo.

As if that weren't enough, it seems hackers broke into the computer network run by the Hadley Climate Research Unit, removing 61 megabytes of e-mails and data.

While we don't condone theft, the hacked data and e-mails have spilled onto the Web and reveal something startling: The scientists at Hadley, one of the world's leading climate change study centers, aren't scientifically objective at all.

Indeed, in e-mails, they boast of twisting scientific data to suit their views and to "hide" the truth. At one point, a scientist actually gloats over the death of global warming skeptic John L. Daly, saying, "In an odd way, this is cheering news."

If true, this is massive scientific fraud.

To add to the warm-mongers' woes, patron saint Al Gore, the man who claimed to have invented the Internet, might also have claimed the discovery of Photoshop. Dr. Roy Spencer, of the University of Alabama at Huntsville, formerly with NASA, has taken a look at the pictures used to illustrate Gore's new book, "Our Choice: A Plan To Solve the Climate Crisis."

Gore Photoshopped NASA imagery of the earth for the fold-out cover photo, adding four hurricanes at once, including one spinning in the wrong direction next to Florida and, in a physical impossibility, one on the equator next to Peru. Somewhere in the process, the island of Cuba was deleted.

It is the warm-mongers who are spinning in the wrong direction. We win. You lose. Get a life.

Gore prominently quotes Deuteronomy, "I’m offering you the choice of life or death."

The cover of Nobel Laureate Al Gore's new book "Our Choice: A Plan to Solve the Climate Crisis" was intentionally doctored to exaggerate the appearance of hurricanes in the northern hemisphere as well as reduce the amount of ice present in the Arctic.

Maybe even more ominously, Florida was so diminished it's almost totally gone.

The cover opens and closes half and half — so you only see one hurricane…as in the press release photo or the one on Amazon.

But this is the real picture sequence from the book which I looked at Borders today and took cell-phone pictures, original (before the retouching by some “artist”) Note all of the Arctic ice and the size of the Florida Peninsula…

And the final product:

A midget Southern Hemisphere cyclone is off the coast of Florida, another hurricane is sitting on the equator off the coast of Peru — and the Arctic Ice is gone (perhaps it is summer) and the Florida Peninsula is half gone

Don't let your guard down just yet. There are hundreds of trillions of dollars at stake, and the true driving force behind this travesty - i.e., the let's redistribute the wealth socialists like George Soros - will not give up easily. They simply are going to make it a two-step process instead of one. What will get signed at the meeting simply paves the way for the final step later.

Here are my opinions:

"Follow the money trail..."

And there are several trails to follow.

1. Environmental activists - need to raise funds to survive, but if there isn’t a cause, there’s no funding and they would all have to go out and get real jobs that they are qualified for, like flipping burgers. The Holly Grail of causes is the totally fictitious false mantra of “Global Warming”, and it arose from the shambles of their previous attempt to spread voodoo-science Chicken Little scare tactics back in the early 70’s when they falsely claimed that our industrial emissions were contributing to a looming, global ecological catastrophe known as “Global Cooling” and that if drastic, costly measures weren’t implemented immediately, glaciers would over run Canada and the northern US by end of the (last) century. (One plan even called for dumping vast quantities of black soot on the arctic ice caps to cause the glacial ice to melt.) But the Earth didn’t cooperate, as it was busy on one of its natural cycles of slight warming (these warm-cool cycles have been going on for hundreds of millions of years prior to the arrival of the first SUV). So “Global Cooling” became Global Warming”. Yet that gosh darn stubborn ‘ol Earth still refuses to cooperate by not conforming itself to any of the voodoo-science predictive computer models and in fact it has continued along its merry way in a natural cycle of cooling for well over a decade. So the envrionuts change the disaster label to “Climate Change”, which is a good one because no one can disprove that the climate doesn’t change, as it does so by the minute. Now the envirowhackos are rolling in cash and never have to fear doing and honest day’s work in their lives. MONEY!

2. Governmental Infiltration by Environuts – who stated out doing some noble work, but soon the left took over entire agencies (just like they did the Universities, the AARP, etc.) and suddenly grant money became available to “study” the causes and impacts of Global Warming – NOT to study whether or not there was such a phenomenon as Global Warming, but instead only to substantiate its existence. They stated with the base assumption that Global Warming was a reality and then set out to prove it so, which is a complete perversion of the scientific method. Grant money was available to produce results that supported the Global Warming concept, but not to do anything that might disprove it. Many of my colleagues in the Earth sciences at that time became seduced by the lure of the grants and sold their scientific souls to join the charade. MONEY!

3. The big breakthrough for the fraudulent movement came when large corporations that really knew the Global Warming nutjobs were a disgrace to the real scientific community caved in anyway and suddenly started worshiping in the Church of Bogus Facts because they saw they could make money by doing so. “My product is greener than my competition’s products” has become one of the largest marketing ploys in modern time, as it crosses the entire spectrum of food, vehicle, appliances, household cleaning products, etc., etc. This is also when carpetbagging, snake-oil salesman, shyster and failed politician Al Gore jumped in to secure his fame, glory and future wealth by becoming the keynote huckster and posterboy of the fraud. MONEY!

4. The convenient truth for a global movement that has been festering since the 1930’s to create a utopian society in which the masses had the exact same standard of living whether they contributed to it or not and the few, powerful elite enjoyed the finer things in life that the masses provided them in exchange for baubles and trinkets (i.e., socialists, Marxists, communists, etc. failed ideologies), that fell into their laps was the Global Warming conspiracy. It became evident early on that some parts of the world, which happened to consist of nations with high standards of living because their populations were smart and industrious, contributed more emissions than other countries that lacked those inherent creative talents and missed the self–created prosperity of he industrial-train as it roared past them, didn’t contribute to emissions. So, using the false science of Global Warming, the utopians of the left initiated a campaign to make the prosperous nations feel guilty about being the sole cause of the eventual destruction of the Earth, and that all those poor nations that were innocent needed to be compensated by the bad guys for committing the crime of being prosperous and frying the Earth as a result. We now have the UN spearheading that cause, and the richest nations (we know who leads that list, don’t we boys and girls) will all have to redistribute their wealth accordingly – i.e., the standard of living of the prosperous people declines while that of the nations that failed to make themselves prosperous increases. Why, it’s only fair, right? MONEY!

I do not confess to recalling the exact data from the ICCP reports, but they projected that if nothing is done the Earth’s average temperature will rise seven degrees in 50 or 100 years (I forget which), which IS a big deal. But they further stated that if you added up the total CO2 emissions from ALL sources (cars, trucks, trains, planes, factories, power plants, etc., etc.) that that amount reportedly causes the Earth’s temperature to rise one degree in 50 or 100 years (I forget which). So think about it: Even if we stopped EVERYTHING (no more cars, trucks, trains, planes, factories, power plants, etc., etc. ever again), we’d only managed to knock one degree off that total of seven – i.e., we don’t even make a dent by stopping all energy consuming and emission generating activities (i.e., we all just freeze in the dark).

So, IF the ICCP reports are factual (and they are not because they have the fundamental flaw that CO2 in the atmosphere leads to increasing Earth temperature), then, by their own math, the ICCP reports show that there already is nothing we can do to avert disaster. Perhaps instead of spending billions of dollars trying in vain and also sending 2% of our annual GDP to third-world nations as the UN Climate Control Treaty would mandate that we do, how about building a bunch of biga*s dikes and barriers along all coasts to keep the seawater out?
