Iowa Has Caucused

Iowa Has Caucused…

Iowa Caucuses Post Photo Cut

2012 Iowa Straw Poll winners: Mitt Romney #1, Rick Santorum #2 and Ron Paul #3.  An angry Newt Gingrich who said he is changing his approach finished 4th. Rick Perry who finished a disappointing 5th said he was heading back to Texas to reevaluate… which means short of a lot of arm-twisting from influential backers, he is out.  And Michele Bachmann rounds out the field in 6th place after having been the winner of the Iowa Straw Poll this past August. She said she is going nowhere and it is headed on to New Hampshire and South Carolina, but the word is she is out of money.  Technically Jon Huntsman Jr. finished 7th in Iowa but he really didn’t campaign or participate there.

Update: Republican Presidential candidate Michele Bachmann formally ended her campaign for the White House this morning, just one day after Mitt Romney's Iowa caucus victory. "Last night, the people of Iowa spoke with a very clear voice. And I have decided to stand aside," the GOP Congresswoman from Minnesota told reporters today.

And there is also an interesting side note… Looks like although Mitt Romney won the Iowa Caucus (by 8 votes) and Rick Santorum was the story of the Iowa Caucus. Ron Paul may be the delegate winner.

And after heading home to Texas on Tuesday night and cancelling his South Carolina plans, Perry announced on Wednesday that he was staying in the race? Go figure?!?

In reality… the Iowa Caucuses were a virtual tie between Romney and Santorum followed by a strong 3rd for Ron Paul.

Huck's Forum 2011

“Game on”, said former the Senator from Pennsylvania, Rick Santorum from the podium last night. For whether he finished first or second in the Iowa Caucuses… he is the story of the day… he was the winner!!

(Wikipedia) The Iowa caucuses are an electoral event in which residents of the U.S. state of Iowa meet in precinct caucuses in all of Iowa's 1,774 precincts and elect delegates to the corresponding county conventions. The caucuses are generally defined as "gatherings of neighbors”. There are 99 counties in Iowa and thus 99 conventions. These county conventions then select delegates for both Iowa's Congressional District Convention and the State Convention, which eventually choose the delegates for the presidential nominating conventions (the national conventions). The 2012 Iowa Caucuses are held on January 3, 2012.[1]

The Iowa caucuses are noteworthy for the amount of media attention they receive during U.S. presidential election years. Since 1972, the Iowa caucuses have been the first major electoral event of the nominating process for President of the United States. Although only about 1% of the nation's delegates are chosen by the Iowa State Convention (28 Republican delegates in 2012, assigned proportionately), the Iowa caucuses have served as an early indication of which candidates for president might win the nomination of their political party at that party's national convention, and which ones could drop out for lack of support.

Photo: Participants it the Ames Iowa Straw Poll in August 2011: Rick Santorum, Herman Cain, Ron Paul, Mitt Romney, Michele Bachmann, Tim Pawlenty, Jon Huntsman, Newt Gingrich… Rick Perry had not even entered the race yet.

It is an amazingly curious process that begins with the Ames Iowa Straw Poll which took its first casualty of the GOP presidential race, Tim Pawlenty.  Gary Johnson, who has also now moved from the GOP field to the Libertarian party, did not participate in the straw poll and Thad McCotter, who did participate, did not qualify for the pre-poll debate and dropped out of the race after the Straw Poll.

All three of the frontrunners: Romney, Santorum and Paul gave great speeches at the end of the night.  Gingrich sadly sounded like a vindictive whiner, which in the end will only hurt the GOP, the American people and help re-elect Obama.  Mr. No Negative Newt is turning into Get Even Angry Gingrich. Newt has already taken out a full page negative anti-Romney ad in South Carolina to hit the papers the day after the Caucus.

A side note… at the end of the evening it was announced that the Iowa Republican Party could not find the last 1% of votes from Clinton and Keokuk counties.  All the major networks, local reporters and media sat waiting long after the winners gave their speeches and went to bed.  Some were already off to New Hampshire or South Carolina before the votes were found.

All the remaining GOP candidates will participate in two debates that are scheduled before the New Hampshire primary where Romney now leads by 40%+ in every poll, even with Jon Huntsman having virtually lived in that state for months now.  There will also be another debate right before the South Carolina primary.

In every poll, Romney still comes out as the most electable against Obama in the General Election compared to all the other GOP candidates.

Countdown to New Hampshire primary: 7 days
Countdown to South Carolina primary: 18 days
Countdown to Florida primary: 28 days
Countdown to Nevada caucuses: 32 days
Countdown to Super Tuesday: 63 days
Countdown to Election Day: 308 days

Total ad spending in Iowa: By the way, the campaigns and various Super PACs spent more than $16 million in advertising in Iowa. The breakdown for the major players: Perry $4.3 million, Paul $2.8 million, Restore Our Future (pro-Romney) $2.8 million, Make Us Great Again (pro-Perry) $1.6 million, Romney $1.5 million, Gingrich $980,000, Red White and Blue Fund (pro-Santorum) $530,000, Winning Our Future (pro-Gingrich) $264,000, Bachmann $180,000, and Santorum $30,000.

Future ad spending: Here is what’s slated to run after today: In New Hampshire, Romney, Paul, and the pro-Huntsman Our Destiny PAC are all booked to run TV ads between tomorrow and the Jan. 9th primary. In South Carolina, Romney, Paul, and the pro-Romney Restore Our Future are booked. And in Florida, Restore Our Future is booked on broadcast advertising until Jan. 9th.

Obama addressed the Iowa Democratic caucus-goers, via video teleconference as the GOP Caucus was going on, at 8:15 pm ET. He made his case for another term to the absence of any noticeable cheering, chanting or clapping. And on Wednesday, 01.04.12, he goes to the important battleground state of Ohio, where he will speak in Cleveland.

*While waiting for the lost votes to come in I listened to the coverage from the BBC.  (Always good to hear things from another perspective!)  Their take is that the GOP really needs to pull themselves together and start focusing on the prize… beating Obama, instead of beating each other up!  They thought that Obama is very vulnerable, but the infighting and extreme ideology of some voter groups will end up causing Obama to be reelected.

Reports out of the Obama campaign are that they are elated by the 3-way split of votes in Iowa as well as the latest reports of stepped up in-fighting.  They feel that if the united GOP goal is really to replace him, they should be able to unite.

At 1:54a.m.ET with 122,255 votes cast, the difference between Romney and Santorum was just 4-votes, with Santorum leading. At 2:34a.m. ET the final tally came in by agreement of the senior staff people of the two winning camps.  But during and after that gap, the talking heads had a lot of time to kill while waiting for the final votes to come in.  At 2:35a.m. they were pondering whether perhaps it was not too late for someone else to jump in… or as the old song lyrics go, should Republicans ‘learn to love the ones they are with’ instead of yearning for a dream team they wanted that didn’t run like Chris Christie, Sarah Palin, Paul Ryan…

In the end, Romney won the race by 8 votes…. as we said before, a virtual tie. (Jon Huntsman siphoned off approximately 700 votes and Herman Cain got 58 votes, even though he is out of the race.) Both Romney (30,015 votes) and Santorum (30,007 votes) came out winners. And Ron Paul doing this well is also a victory for his campaign.

But the true question is… Is the division displayed in Iowa a victory for the GOP voters and ultimately for the American people?

Community Organizing for the Constitution: The Price of Liberty

Mimi Steel, Exclusive to the California Political News and Views, 12/26/11

As the New Year begins, it is traditional to reflect on the past and look forward to the future. It is a time to assess where we have been and where we want to go, a time to determine priorities and resolve to accomplish them. From the perspective of one new to political activism, this is a daunting task. Reflecting on the past brings the realization of what a unique and remarkable country the United States of America truly is. To begin the US Constitution with the words “WE THE PEOPLE” in bold font was absolutely unheard of, revolutionary, in the annals of European history. Think about that. We were colonies that came from countries ruled by kings and queens. The elite owned the land, made the rules, and dictated the course of most people’s lives. You were born in to a class from which there was no escape. You were either one of the very few powerful or one of the serfs. There was little in between.

Then the upstart colonies came up with an idea, the grand experiment, that man could rule himself. They unleashed the genius of the human mind by instituting the rule of law, by laying the groundbreaking philosophy that all men were equal under that law, and by allowing people the right to pursue happiness (invent things, acquire property, and enjoy the fruits of their own labor). They limited government and mankind thrived.

Unfortunately we are now on the verge of squandering this magnificent gift of our Founders. Not only do we not appreciate it, too many of our fellow citizens distain it, too many of us are complacent, willing to let others do the heavy lifting of government. Let someone else deal with it. I’m too busy with my career. I am raising my family. I don’t have time. Great excuses abound.

While most of us have been blissfully ignorant of government, our opposition has become increasingly emboldened in their efforts to control government at all levels. And who can blame them? Those of us who want the government to leave us alone, tend not to get involved in politics. Those who think the government is the answer are the ones who show up at that city council meeting and all other levels of government demanding that the government do one thing or another that promotes their interests and most likely goes against the interests of the individual. The collective is ascendant in America. It’s for the greater good. Then we complain. We look around after all these years of our uninvolvement and wonder why things are the way are. It’s really quite simple. If you “cede” the field of battle, you lose. And right now, most of us have not even been aware that there was a battle being fought. Americans are fair-minded and trusting individuals generally. We elect people to office and assume that they will do the right thing. But if you don’t show up to support those people and policies or if you elect people with a different philosophy from yours because you could not be bothered to learn their positions on issues, you lose.

So here we are with a New Year upon us and many Americans starting to wake up to the realization that America is being fundamentally transformed in to something that is no longer a Representative Republic. We are in imminent danger of answering the question “Can man rule himself?” in the negative and turning over our god given rights to a handful of powerful elites who are happy to tell us how to live, where to live, and to control just about every aspect of our lives from what we eat to our health care.

We let this happen. Our self-absorption in our own lives has brought us to this point. There is no one to save us from this fate. The system was designed for WE THE PEOPLE. If WE THE PEOPLE are absent, the spoils go to the spoilers-those who see government as the solution to all problems. Every government solution chips away at man’s freedom. This is only going to get turned around if enough citizens get involved in their local communities. Very few of us have the money or connections to influence Presidential politics, Senate or Congressional politics, or even State Senate and Assembly positions. But we can influence our local city council. We can take an active role in city government. Many of these elections are won or lost by a few hundred votes. Most people don’t even bother to learn about local candidates and what they stand for. Yet local is where it is at.

As you make your New Year’s resolutions, I hope one of them will be to become a Community Organizer for the Constitution. Get involved in a local taxpayer association, homeowners association, 912 Group or Tea Party Group. Join up with people of like mind who want to preserve freedom, not subvert it. Your country needs you now more than ever before. And the only sacrifice on your part is to spend some of your precious time to insure the future of your children and grandchildren so they can live in freedom as you did. What is that worth?

New Nationwide FEMA Camps Should Raise Eyebrows… And Some Reasons Why

Of all the rumors flying around on the internet, one just refuses to die, and it concerns America's FEMA camps.

In a nutshell, there seems to be a solicitation of bids occurring for the staffing of FEMA camps within 72 hours of implementation by an order from either Homeland Security or the president. This situation begs to be investigated, with special consideration paid to the motives of the present administration.

I went to the source, the FedBizOpps.gov, and searched for the solicitation number HSFEHQ-10-R-0027, titled National Responder Support Camp.

A search of the history of the amendments to this Solicitation for Contract showed that it had been modified several times, with the last modification -- number 0008, with an original date of letting out to bid with a synopsis of May 13, 2011 -- occurring on December 16, 2011. This last modification rescinded the solicitation, with said modification's purpose noted as follows:

1. Cancel Solicitation HSFEHQ-10-R-0027.

2. A new draft solicitation will be issued on January 2012 for industry comment.

3. A Pre-Solicitation Conference will be held approximately two week post draft solicitation.

Okay...score one for the internet and the vigilant citizens who perform an invaluable service to our nation by monitoring the actions of our government and its various agencies.

I began the laborious task of reading the Invitation to Bid -- this tome is 116, pages with many canned and boilerplate requirements for doing business with Uncle Sam duly enshrined amongst the pages. The Task Order Request (TOPR) under Scenario I & II under Section J of the Appendix made for another 42 pages. The required size of the camps was fluid, though they had the required capacity of 301 to two thousand, including security and camp cadre.

The staffing requirements or cadre for FEMA personnel for these camps -- which are identified as being located in five (5) distinct regions throughout and within the borders of the USA, with camps located in each and every state -- was three to fifteen each. The size of these camps will vary around 5 acres per 1,000 inhabitants, though they will never be less than 3 acres for populations of 500 or fewer inhabitants within the camps' boundaries.

This requirement also had a minimum square footage for each inhabitant: either the camp's cadre and first responders of 63 square feet, or approximately 8 feet on each side. This is slightly less than current Federal Court(s) requirements for housing prisoners, which is approximately 72 square feet. Perimeter fencing or barricades is required to be six feet high, enclosing the camp, with all traffic in or out to be recorded on a daily log and with security restricting all traffic and access. The contractor shall also provide fencing and barricades around areas which are "off limits" to occupants. ID Badges are required and are either blue or red, depending on the carrier is temporary or considered an occupant of the camp.

The first of several anomalies in the solicitation for bid was in the contractor staffing requirements, which puzzlingly required staff to be fully operational within 72 hours. Furthermore, "[w]henever practical, displaced citizens will be given the first opportunities for employment within the camp, assuming skills and capabilities are pertinent for the open positions."

This led me to question the stated purpose of these camps, considering that the successful contractor would need to have personnel ready to go on such short notice, with notification from FEMA, Homeland Security, or the president within 72 hours. So the question arises: how could the camp utilize "displaced citizens" in the initial staffing unless the contractor knew where and when a disaster, man-made or otherwise would occur beforehand?

Another anomaly was the requirement that the "off limits" area was to be enclosed before anything else:

The contractor shall also provide fencing and barricades around areas which are "off limits" to occupants. Fencing and barricades are required within 36 hours for "phased" setup timeframes, and 72 hours for the rest of the initial setup timeframe.

Next question: just what is this "off limits" area to be used for, since the bid proposal specified only two (2) classes of occupants of the camp -- temporary or occupant as first responder? Furthermore, it indicates that there may be a camp within the camp, or an area that is to be utilized by another group that is not revealed in the bid solicitation...your guess is as good as mine. Most Americans would not like the ambiguity of this area's function!

Another question arose on the Term of the Contract (F.3), which reads as follows:

The contract shall be effective as of the execution date of the base contract, and shall continue up to five years if all four one-year options are exercised, except that delivery orders placed prior to the expiration date shall remain in full force and effect until deliveries have been completed and payments, therefore, have been made. The final delivery order shall not exceed two years.

The nature of the duration seems to belie a long-term use for these camps, which is also not fitting the transitory nature of natural disasters, with most communities being habitable again after a relatively short period of time. We're talking months, not years.

Under the Principal Place of Performance (F.4), this solicitation implies that all of the areas outlined below must be staffed:

The effort required under this contract shall be performed in the United States. Task Orders will designate the exact locations where services will be provided. The five (5) areas of coverage are broken down as follows:

Area 1: Includes the states of CT, DC, DE, MA, MD, ME, NH, NJ, PA, VT, NY, WV, VA, RI

Area 2: Includes the states of KY, TN, MS, AL, GA, SC, NC, FL

Area 3: Includes the states of CO, IA, IL, IN, KS, MI, MN, MO, MT, ND, NE, OH, SD, UT, WI, WY

Area 4: Includes the states of AR, LA, NM, OK, TX

Area 5: Includes the states of AZ, CA, ID, NV, OR, WA

The language is specific in that all requirements are performed in the United States. However, the language does not specify that it would be a phased approach or even a localized area that experiences a natural disaster -- simply the entire nation.

In the Task Order Proposal Request, there is a specific requirement for large vehicle parking:

Special Requirements:

- Outsized Vehicle Parking within Security Area (> 2.5 ton vehicles): Estimate required space and add to acreage requirement.

- Outsized vehicle parking outside security area (> 2.5 ton vehicles): Estimate required space and add to acreage requirement.

- Mission Support Work Area(s): Minimum square footage, Accessibility

These requirements suggest that the type of vehicle(s) will be either solely high-occupancy (i.e., buses) or large trucks or heavy equipment combined with buses. The interesting point about this section is that the authors allude to a "Security Area" and an "Unsecured Area" with no specific requirements coming forth.

To sum up: the solicitation to bid for the staffing of FEMA camps within 72 hours is a curious proposition, since it appears to predict a calamity that will affect the entire nation simultaneously --completely unlike a location-specific natural disaster.

This may be nothing more than a preparedness exercise by Homeland Security to see if anyone besides the military would be able to meet these stringent requirements for rapid deployment. However, what I found most striking was the "off limits" areas within each camp and staffing with "displaced persons" and the "Mission Support Work Area(s)," all undefined. As citizens, we need to know the exact purpose of these camps, given President Obama's propensity to bend our constitutional republic to his own purposes!

Afghanistan's dancing boys

It really just doesn’t stop… Remember the horrible info on child brides and abuse of women and girls under Sharia Law? Now get a load of this:

Human Cattle and the "Muslims" of Afghanistan's Gentlemen of Perversion… Not only in Afghanistan is the "Muslim" tradition of pedophilia perversion rampant, but so is it in Saudi Arabia.  What is even more interesting is that the whole world is aware of this "Muslim" perversion yet the "Arabic Muslim" world seems to be unaffected.  This in itself demonstrates the strangle hold that the "Islamic" world already has on the power elite and over those who abhor such practices.  As with many distasteful practices in the "Islamic" world (like stoning) so is the case of the use and abuse of Muslim women, but also women from the Slavic regions, Europe, and even the U.S. Those who either do not make the grade as sexual servants or slave labor, in one form or another end up being the victims of a jealous lead wife, are used as unwilling organ donors for a never ending market, or left to wander in the desert to die… never be heard of again. Frontline: Dancing Boys of Afghanistan

clip_image002

On Tuesday night, I watched the harrowing Frontline: The Dancing Boys of Afghanistan which exposed an ancient practice known as as "bacha bazi" which, literally translated, means 'boys' play'.

This illegal practice exploits orphans and street boys, and has been revived by powerful warlords, businessmen and military commanders in Afghanistan. These men dress the boys in women's clothes, who are trained to sing and dance for their enjoyment. The dancing boys are also used sexually by these men.

This is outstanding journalism by Afghan journalist Najibullah Quraishi, and my hat's off to PBS and to the Frontline producers for doing such an admirable job. I was particularly impressed by Quraishi and his producers' attempts to arrange the rescue of one of the dancing boys profiled in the film, an 11-year-old boy bought from an impoverished rural family.

In contrast with other productions (see my post of yesterday, for instance) the 11-year boy's face was blurred throughout the film to preserve his anonymity and self-respect.

Homosexuality is forbidden in Islam, and yet pederasty and boy concubinage has had a long history in the Persian cultural world which includes much of Afghanistan.

Court orders Google and Facebook to remove all anti-Islamic content

Social websites including Google and Facebook have been ordered by an Indian court to remove all 'anti-religious' and 'anti-social' content within six weeks.

On Saturday a Delhi Court ordered 22 social networking sites, including Yahoo and Microsoft, to wipe the objectionable and defamatory contents and file compliance reports by February 6, 2012.

Additional Civil Judge Mukesh Kumar passed the order on a suit filed by Mufti Aijaz Arshad Qasmi seeking to restrain the websites from circulating objectionable and defamatory contents.

Qasmi had objected to a number of images on the websites which he complained would cause 'irreparable loss and injury to the people who are offended by them'.

He argued that some of the images defamed Hindu gods, Prophet Mohammed and other religious figures, India Today website reported.

The order will raise serious questions about how users' posts and opinions will be edited, censorship and freedom of expression.

On December 22 Judge Kumar had issued summonses to the social networking sites, demanding they remove photographs, videos or texts that might offend religious sentiments, the Hindustan Times website reported.

The order comes a day after a criminal court issued summonses to the sites for facing trial for allegedly webcasting objectionable contents.

Santosh Pandey, appearing for complainant Mufti Aijaz Arshad Qasmi, told The Hindu Times after the court hearing that the websites have to submit a report to the court by February 6 describing the action they had taken to remove the contents from the websites.

Representatives of Yahoo India Pvt Ltd and Microsoft told the court that they had not got copies of the order and complaint against them, but Qasmi's counsel told the court that he would supply the relevant documents to them, according to the Hindustan Times.

The order comes at a controversial time as IT minister Kapil Sibal had recently discussed with representatives of some of the companies ways to guarantee the offensive contents are not posted.

India Today quoted him as saying: 'There were some demeaning, degrading, clearly pornographic depictions of gods and goddesses which no reasonable, sensible person anywhere in the world would accept, on any site.

The minister insisted he was not smothering free speech but was suggesting screening possible 'incendiary' material.

The Hindu Times reported Facebook India, Facebook, Google India Pvt Ltd, Google Orkut, Youtube, Blogspot, Microsoft India Pvt Ltd, Microsoft, Zombie Time, Exboii, Boardreader, IMC India, My Lot, Shyni Blog and Topix were all given the order.

A Google spokesperson told the website: 'We comply with valid court orders wherever possible, consistent with our long standing policy.

'We're yet to receive the details of this order and can't comment on this specific case.'

2011 – Turning Our Backs on the Gods of the Copybook Headings

clip_image002

Rudyard Kipling:

AS I PASS through my incarnations in every age and race,
I make my proper prostrations to the Gods of the Market Place.
Peering through reverent fingers I watch them flourish and fall,
And the Gods of the Copybook Headings, I notice, outlast them all.

We were living in trees when they met us. They showed us each in turn
That Water would certainly wet us, as Fire would certainly burn:
But we found them lacking in Uplift, Vision and Breadth of Mind,
So we left them to teach the Gorillas while we followed the March of Mankind.

We moved as the Spirit listed. They never altered their pace,
Being neither cloud nor wind-borne like the Gods of the Market Place,
But they always caught up with our progress, and presently word would come
That a tribe had been wiped off its icefield, or the lights had gone out in Rome.

With the Hopes that our World is built on they were utterly out of touch,
They denied that the Moon was Stilton; they denied she was even Dutch;
They denied that Wishes were Horses; they denied that a Pig had Wings;
So we worshipped the Gods of the Market Who promised these beautiful things.

When the Cambrian measures were forming, They promised perpetual peace.
They swore, if we gave them our weapons, that the wars of the tribes would cease.
But when we disarmed They sold us and delivered us bound to our foe,
And the Gods of the Copybook Headings said: “Stick to the Devil you know.”

On the first Feminian Sandstones we were promised the Fuller Life
(Which started by loving our neighbour and ended by loving his wife)
Till our women had no more children and the men lost reason and faith,
And the Gods of the Copybook Headings said: “The Wages of Sin is Death.”

In the Carboniferous Epoch we were promised abundance for all,
By robbing selected Peter to pay for collective Paul;
But, though we had plenty of money, there was nothing our money could buy,
And the Gods of the Copybook Headings said: “If you don’t work you die.”

Then the Gods of the Market tumbled, and their smooth-tongued wizards withdrew
And the hearts of the meanest were humbled and began to believe it was true
That All is not Gold that Glitters, and Two and Two make Four
And the Gods of the Copybook Headings limped up to explain it once more.

As it will be in the future, it was at the birth of Man
There are only four things certain since Social Progress began.
That the Dog returns to his Vomit and the Sow returns to her Mire,
And the burnt Fool’s bandaged finger goes wabbling back to the Fire;

And that after this is accomplished, and the brave new world begins
When all men are paid for existing and no man must pay for his sins,
As surely as Water will wet us, as surely as Fire will burn,
The Gods of the Copybook Headings with terror and slaughter return!

Welcome to 2012… Buckle up because it will be one hell of a ride as Obama goes for broke and his mask comes off, displaying the full intent of his Marxist agenda. Interesting times indeed.

2011 was a year replete with Progressivism running wild in America and across the globe. A year that freedom slipped away and tyrants gathered collectively in gleeful anticipation of a coalescence of power, wealth and control. The year that many patriots woke up in America and realized they did not recognize their country any more.

Economics

AS I PASS through my incarnations in every age and race,
I make my proper prostrations to the Gods of the Market Place.
Peering through reverent fingers I watch them flourish and fall,
And the Gods of the Copybook Headings, I notice, outlast them all.

The Keynesian economists blather on and on… Every channel you turn to, they proclaim that we are in a recovery, albeit slow, but, recovery nonetheless. And they actually think we are stupid enough to believe that. Elitist arrogance run amok.

Silly Marxists, we know the markets are rigged. All they do is go up and Americans know it is a lie. Gold and silver markets are being manipulated. Stocks are a bad joke. The dollar is junk. While firms such as IMF Global rip investors off, publicly and brutally, individual banks are stealing their clientele blind a few dollars at a time. Why? Because they can. The collective mentality dictates that you should steal all you can before the ship goes down for the last time. After all, what does it matter? Get it while you can, is their reasoning. Screw everyone, time to look out for numero uno. What they forget is that their actions will have a cost, just like it did in the days before the Russian empire came tumbling down and the KGB changed their clothes from chic jack booted thuggery, to sleek government de regeur.

We are trillions in debt here in the US. Forget untenable, it’s un-survivable. But our leaders keep printing money in a Weimar frenzy, declaring: “What inflation?” While Americans go to the store and weigh what they can afford to eat this week as opposed to keeping the heat on.

Regulations are strangling capitalism to death and company after company is down-sizing or folding altogether. Three years into Obama’s bleak utopia and unemployment is staggering. Don’t believe the government’s numbers – they are a lie as well. Rigged to make gullible taxpayers believe things are better than they really are. Thy story is entitled Animal Farm. How very anti-laissez-faire. Welcome to 1932 redux.

I sense Cass Sunstein chuckling sardonically behind the Marxist curtain of the EPA and other agencies stealing our land, telling us what we can and can’t buy and where we can and can’t live. Herding us into cities where we can be stacked and packed and controlled. They are engineering tenement Hell.

Government

We were living in trees when they met us. They showed us each in turn
That Water would certainly wet us, as Fire would certainly burn:
But we found them lacking in Uplift, Vision and Breadth of Mind,
So we left them to teach the Gorillas while we followed the March of Mankind.

We moved as the Spirit listed. They never altered their pace,
Being neither cloud nor wind-borne like the Gods of the Market Place,
But they always caught up with our progress, and presently word would come
That a tribe had been wiped off its icefield, or the lights had gone out in Rome.

Regulating us to death, or at the very least to our knees. It’s the Progressive agenda at its heart. And I would add ‘and soul,’ but these wankers don’t have one that we are aware of.

In 2011, we saw more and more czars rise from the Obama regime and a tidal wave of corruption completely engulf the American system of checks and balances. Not only did they get away with it, these evil politicians thumbed their noses at us and stepped on the gas, not believing for a bloody second they would ever be held accountable. And the ones that didn’t go full-frontal evil, compromised and played along to get along, justifying it as the only way to get anything done. Not realizing they had just as surely sold their souls to the devil as Judas did for his 30 pieces of silver. Scandals such as Fast and Furious and Solyndra rule the day with only crickets for accompaniment.

The Constitution was deemed an old, dusty out-dated piece of paper. It is being nullified and stripped of all meaning and being replaced with a new and improved Communist manifesto, put forth by Obama and his Progressive court. Our governing principles currently more closely resemble the Russian Constitution than our own.

Our free speech on the Internet is being threatened and taken away in brazen leaps. Our second amendment rights are being manipulated and threatened not only by the DOJ, but the DHS and every other government hack that gets half a chance. State’s rights are being stripped in the name of the federal government knowing what is in the best interest of each state and its citizens. A police state and an American killing field has just been approved by our political leaders – now if you are even accused of a crime, you can just disappear for good. No due process, no Constitutional rights… Most Americans are incredulous over this threat to individual freedoms – it is straight out of the gestapo playbook.

As the government clamps down more and more, from the TSA moving into not just airports, but bus and train terminals, to DHS profiling each of us, we find that the freest nation in the world is no more. For her to ever fully return would require the people to take their country back. That almost never ends well. We would fight as if it were the American Revolution, but might wind up doing the French two-step.

Middle East

When the Cambrian measures were forming, They promised perpetual peace.
They swore, if we gave them our weapons, that the wars of the tribes would cease.
But when we disarmed They sold us and delivered us bound to our foe,
And the Gods of the Copybook Headings said: “Stick to the Devil you know.”

2011 was the year we lost Afghanistan, Iraq, Egypt, Turkey, Tunisia and most of the Middle East. Between pulling out of Iraq prematurely, dancing round the fires of the Arab Spring in the Middle East and utilizing the Responsibility to Protect Doctrine, we did a wondrous job of furthering a Caliphate as well as beginning what I believe could very well be World War III. And you can thank Barack Obama, George Soros, Samantha Power and Leon Panetta for all this chaos. They just brought the world closer to their heart’s desire.

And in the settling blood and dust lay the bodies of our troops and Christians worldwide. I’m sure that Obama considers this a small price to pay to further his Grande Vision of a Marxist utopia. The blood of thousands slaughtered cries for real justice that has yet to materialize, but worldwide domination? Right on track, it’s the year of the Islamist baby.

As the election for 2012 draws nigh, look for more conflict, more intrusion… R2P will slide into Syria and ignite further the conflict with Iran. Russia and China could very well come to the aid of Iran and Syria. Unintended consequences? Nope. This was planned from the beginning – a war is the preferred tactic that Obama will use to further ensure his reelection, regardless of Progressives on either side of the aisle helping his plans along. Our boys and girls fighting for our freedom are nothing more than fodder for Obama’s soon-to-be realized dream of global government. He never intended to win any of these wars. Loss of life was to further the common good in his eyes – his ‘good.’

Obama will go down as the worst President in American history. He has wreaked more havoc and damage than any other President before and he’s not done yet. If he gets four more years, he will finish us off. And you can take that to the Shariah bank.

Sultan Knish put it better than I ever could:

But 2011 is also a reminder that the world cannot afford another year of Obama. That it cannot afford the appeasement, the destructive policies or the post-American politics that have made his regime the worst administration in this country’s history. 2011 may be the year that we lost the Middle East, but let’s work to make 2012 the year that this country loses one Barack Hussein Obama.

Religion

With the Hopes that our World is built on they were utterly out of touch,
They denied that the Moon was Stilton; they denied she was even Dutch;
They denied that Wishes were Horses; they denied that a Pig had Wings;
So we worshipped the Gods of the Market Who promised these beautiful things.

This country was founded on Christian principles. I’m sorry if some don’t like that fact, but there it is.

That hasn’t stopped Liberals from trying to erase and rewrite history. They are all for removing all traces of Christianity from schools and public places. But they insist that Islam should be given free rein. I don’t know about you, but I’m sick to death of this crap. When we had prayer in school and the pledge of allegiance, we had less violence and we had more American spirit. Now that the Progressives have mostly succeeded in taking God out of the schools and replacing Him with Marx, we have violence galore. Gangs and drugs, hate and evil walk the halls of our learning institutions. All this has gained us is the loss of our children and the embrace of evil agendas.

The White House and our Commander in Chief routinely leave out phrases referring to God, unless of course they are referring to Allah. Americans aren’t blind – they see the blatant favoritism being given Islam and how Christians are being put in their place. Christians are the majority in this country and I think most of us have just about had enough of Obama’s faux Christianity. Freedom of religion means freedom for all religions. Christians don’t blow things up, but they seem to be on Obama’s terrorist list while giving those that kill in the name of Allah a free pass, labeling their transgressions as work-related incidents. Don’t fool yourself into thinking he is trying to be fair or does not realize what he is doing… Obama knows exactly what he is doing. Read the Arabic on the wall.

Revolution

As it will be in the future, it was at the birth of Man
There are only four things certain since Social Progress began.
That the Dog returns to his Vomit and the Sow returns to her Mire,
And the burnt Fool’s bandaged finger goes wabbling back to the Fire;

And that after this is accomplished, and the brave new world begins
When all men are paid for existing and no man must pay for his sins,
As surely as Water will wet us, as surely as Fire will burn,
The Gods of the Copybook Headings with terror and slaughter return!

And so the seeds of revolutionary chaos have been sown by the Progressives in America. Look for the spring and summer of 2012 to be entirely memorable as OWS, Communists, Progressives, etc. set the streets of America on fire in service to bringing America to her knees and stirring the populist pot to engender a deluded call for Obama to end our suffering. Top down, bottom up, inside out… Van Jones will play a pivotal role to be sure.

As I have said many times before, do not fall for the siren call of Occupy Wall Street. It is a trap with no way out in the end. They will be used and then discarded once they have served their purpose. It is class warfare and a tactic that Sun Tsu would find admirable. Stay away from the protests and the riots. Revolution may come, but this is not the way to fight it. Study and remember how the American Revolution was fought. Don’t gather to be slaughtered as sheep in the pen.

Things are going to get very interesting this year unfortunately. Businesses of all flavors will be besieged in a wave of class warfare of which we’ve never seen the like. Those that even appear to have something of value will become targets of the have-nots. Check how you live and how you put forth your worth. Stock up and don’t advertise it. Prepare yourselves and your family.

Remember, as we move forward into the year, the government is not the answer, it is the problem.

As 2011 was the year of Turning Our Backs on the Gods of the Copybook Headings, 2012 may be the year of living dangerously in America. Time to loose the Constitutional badgers to rid us of the rampant rosy red rodents that so infest our chambers of leadership. Americans fight for what they believe in – the battle it seems draws near. You may trust that the Gods of the Copybooks will in the end be satisfied.

2011 in Review

When looking back and having to decide what were the biggest events or most memorable moments or people of 2011… it is tough, which matches the year itself… overall a tough year for the United States, for the World, and for Americans.

So what was the biggest event of 2011? The Japanese tsunami, the US or European debt crises, or the deaths of Osama bin Laden, Kim Jong-Il, Muammar Gaddafi, or even Steve Jobs? Or was it something else that stands out in your mind?  Do you prefer to think of the more fun or pleasant moments like the Royal Weddings in Great Britain or Monaco?

In a year where the world's population reached 7 billion (October 31 in the Gregorian Year MMXI ) perhaps in terms of enormity the following events can be considered (in reverse 'countdown' order of importance) the biggest, most memorable last. No matter where you stand politically the events below affected us all in one way or another…

Honorable Mention – The Birth of GBTV

Glenn Beck gave up his show on Fox News in 2011 at the top of his game to develop a network for the future so he could say and do what he thought was necessary to help America survive.  He gave up his high-profile, high paying job which included a spacious apartment in New York City to build an online network from scratch and fund it all himself.  Check out GBTV…  and consider subscribing. Also, join Glenn this coming summer in Dallas for Restoring Love… A Celebration of Service

NUMBER FIFTEEN – Anthony Weiner Scandal

The Weiner scandal is not important because of Anthony Weiner.  It is important because of the connections to the Muslim Brotherhood and the Clintons that were ignored by the media; because it points out the dangers of allowing your children on social media sites; and because it illustrates the depravity of many of the people in Congress and government.

NUMBER FOURTEEN - GOP presidential race  (Next Year unless something catastrophic happens the Presidential race should be story #2 or #3 and the election itself should be #1… it will be the election of our lifetime!!)

Huck's Forum 2011

From Donald Trump to Herman Cain, the Republican race to pick a presidential nominee has been a roller-coaster ride. Businessman Trump flirted with the idea of jumping into the GOP field, but has decided instead to wait and see who the nominee is, floating the idea that he may run as an independent. The GOP electorate, hungry to find an opponent for President Obama, has kept politicos on the edge of their seats, bouncing from frontrunner to frontrunner over several months. Cain, once one of the top candidates, was forced to suspend his campaign after a series of sexual harassment and misconduct allegations. (Funny how his accusers vanished as soon as Cain dropped out of the race.)

But more than the distractions, the race has forced introspection by Republicans on what their priorities are, likely making a choice between a candidate who represents ideological purity or one with the best chances of winning the White House.  Plus on the fringe are the stories of who didn’t run and the uncertainty of who actually still might jump in as a GOP or 3rd Party candidate this late in the game.  For now the juggling of last minute positions for the January 3rd Iowa Caucuses is keeping everyone engaged as we roll into 2012.

NUMBER THIRTEEN - Repeal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell

After years of lobbying by liberal and gay rights groups, Obama fulfills one of his election promises with the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell. The law was signed by President Obama despite protests from some military leaders, notably from the Marines, who claimed the change in policy would interrupt service and potential weaken the military. After months of preparation, the policy was officially ended as of September 2011.  Whether you are for or against this change, it is a major change!

NUMBER TWELVE - Shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords

On January 8th, Arizona Democratic Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords was meeting with constituents when she and 18 others were shot at a shopping center near Tucson. Six people were killed, including a federal judge, though Giffords, who was shot point blank in the head, survived. The shooter, 22-year-old Jared Lee Loughner, was declared incompetent to stand trial and has not revealed why he tried to kill Giffords. The incident, which took place soon after a politically divisive midterm election, prompted discussion about the heated rhetoric politicians and others employ.  The incident provided ‘ammunition’ for the gun control crowd, but both Giffords and her astronaut husband remain pro-second amendment.

NUMBER ELEVEN - NASA's Space Shuttle Program Concluded

Best news photos of 2011

Atlantis' last, Flight STS-135, concluded the final mission of NASA's Space Shuttle Program when it lands back at the Kennedy Space Center on July 21. 135 missions were flown between 1981 and 2011. Besides its launching of space probes, satellites, and work with the International Space Station, the Program's most memorable legacy might, unfortunately, be the 1986 Challenger and 2003 Columbia disasters. And now a nation that led the world into space has to hitch a ride…

NUMBER TEN - Twin Terrorist Attacks in Norway

The world was shocked when it learned of the 76-people killed in simultaneous attacks in Oslo and the island of Utoya on July 22nd. What was designed by the terrorist to divide the country actually united it-in its grief. It also compelled many democracies to reconsider their approach to justice for such situations.

NUMBER NINE - Steve Jobs' Death

Steve Jobs' Sister Reveals His Final Words

Whilst the death of Steve Jobs (October 5th) pales in significance when compared with other critical world events for the year, there is no question the impact of such a life, and therefore his death, had on the world. Millions of tributes are written as the world lamented the passing of a technological genius.

NUMBER EIGHT - Horn of Africa Famine

Somalia, Ethiopia, and Kenya are enveloped in a famine affecting the lives and livelihoods of nearly 15 million people; the worst in 30-60 years. Various aid agencies are working together in the troubled regions to assist as they can, and to promote the plight of these ultra-poor to the comparatively rich Western world. This crisis touches the heart for the sheer size of the famine and resultant desolation as well as the comparative apathy of the world's response.

NUMBER SEVEN - Muammar Gaddafi Killed

Reports of the October 20th death of the Libyan dictator streamed across the airwaves. It was a win not only for the local people, but for democracy and the ‘hope’ for the wider region. A bigger than life character on the world stage came to a smaller end.  Just two months earlier, during the Battle of Tripoli, Libyan rebels ousted Gadaffi's regime.  But in reality the outcome may not be as hoped or portrayed by the powers that be.

NUMBER SIX - North Korean "Dear Leader" Kim Jong-Il Dies

Best news photos of 2011

On December 17th, North Korean dictator, Kim Jong-Il died of a heart attack at age 69. News broke slowly over national television and filtered into the international community within 48-hours as many brainwashed North Korean nationals enter into severe mourning. (Many questioned what happened to our intelligence.) Soon the mooted successor emerged: Kim Jong-Il's youngest son Kim Jong-Un. This event has caused widespread interest and concern for regional and global threats because of political instability. A one million strong genocide and a one million strong army are the legacies of Kim Jong-Il and there is no sign that there will be much change.

NUMBER FIVE - US Debt-Ceiling Crisis

In late July, the culmination of 30 years of growing debt, together with the consequences of the Global Financial Crisis of 2008, saw the United States government days from shutting; as a result the embattled Congress and President Barack Obama maneuvered the Budget Control Act 2011 through legislature. The US government credit rating was downgraded for the first time in the nation's history.  It is an event that should immediately have changed the way Washington operated.  In reality it has done nothing.

NUMBER FOUR - Osama bin Laden Killed

Best news photos 2011

One of the biggest news events of 2011, for the sheer legend of one terrorist's destructive legacy, occurred on May 1st. Bin Laden's death brought an outpouring of emotion worldwide, significantly happening just months before the 10th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks.  Whether the details released to the public were accurate is a subject for another day…  Fox News’ Geraldo Rivera said the news of Bin Laden’s death coming in during his show was the highlight of his career.

NUMBER THREE (Tied) - Impending Collapse of the Euro

The economies of Greece and Italy, among others (Greece and Italy were among the nations termed PIIGS… Portugal, Italy, Ireland, Greece and Spain… all EU nations teetering on the brink), have severely stretched the sustainability of the Euro. Momentous political and economic reforms have been made as the Euro system teeters on the brink of collapse, which threatens to drag the world into a prolonged recession, if not depression.  How this plays out could very well cause the same in the United States, especially with the latest word that the Fed are bailing them out… which means you, the American taxpayer.

NUMBER THREE (Tied) – Arab Spring

The protests that began in Tunisia and spread throughout the Middle East and Northern Africa eventually become known as the Arab Spring. Fueled by unemployed young citizens and frustration with longtime leaders and corrupt police, the protests have prompted the overthrow of three leaders, in Tunisia, Egypt, and Libya as well as upheaval in the entire region (notably Syria) and the initial theoretical hope of the emergence of democratic elections. Other leaders have vowed to step down from power when their current terms end. Though the protests are reported to have began as nonviolent home-grown or grassroots type of  endeavors, struggles in many of the countries have been bloody and have become International in scope.  It was difficult to decide whether this should have been number one or two because of the long reaching effects it will have as the Muslim Brotherhood takes hold of one country after another that used to be at least somewhat stable and somewhat friendly to Israel and the United States… the West.

NUMBER TWO – The U.S. Economy

Over 44-million Americans are now on food stamps and the only reason the U.S. unemployment figures are not officially between 11% and 23% (depending on the area and state) instead of the manipulated 8.5% to 9.5% national figures, as they have been portrayed this past year, is that the employment pool has shrunk.  People retired early, stopped looking for work and are living off of savings or family and friends, or are under-employed and are working part-time or at much lower paying jobs than they had previously been or were trained for.  Or they have been transferred onto the rolls of welfare, food-stamps and other government social programs. And there are now more homeless in America than at almost anytime in U.S. history.

The U.S. housing market is in shambles.  The the U.S. government almost shut down this past summer after we lost our AAA credit rating.  And the Obama White House thinks that the U.S. taxpayer is his piggy bank.  And yep… Obama is asking for another 1.2 trillion raise of the debt ceiling.

And for those hoping things will improve… without changing the president and a good portion of Congress, wake-up.  We now have military personal returning from Iraq needing jobs.  Sears and K-Mart just announced they are closing 100 stores.  And General Electric is planning to move its 115-year-old X-ray division from Waukesha, Wisconsin to Beijing. In addition to moving the headquarters, the company will invest $2 billion in China and train more than 65 engineers and create six research centers. This is the same GE that made $5.1 billion in the United States last year, but paid no taxes-the same company that employs more people overseas than it does in the United States and whose head, Jeffrey Immelt was appointed by Obama as his Job Czar.

NUMBER ONE - Japan Earthquake and Subsequent Tsunami

The March 11th, 14:46hrs (Japan Standard Time), a 9.1 Magnitude Tohoku undersea mega thrust quake, with an epicenter 70 km from dry land, at a relatively shallow underwater depth of 32 km, hits the mainland of Japan, followed by a devastating tsunami shortly after. The biggest secondary impact is on Sendai and the Fukushima nuclear power plant, initiating a protracted national nuclear emergency. At an estimated economic cost of US$235 billion, the World Bank rates it as the most expensive natural disaster on record. Almost 16,000 people die, almost 6,000 people are injured, and some 3,600 are listed still missing, from 18 prefectures. Significantly, this earthquake shifts earth minutely off its axis and the true effects of the radiation are still not truly known. (Like the BP Gulf Spill, it is a disaster that after the initial coverage has been swept under the rug.)

The Royal Weddings… (When you have some time, you might want to do some research on ‘the Royals’ and their connections and loyalties!) But the wedding photos are beautiful!

Notable Celebrity Deaths of 2011

Steve Jobs (Feb 24, 1955- Oct 5, 2011), founder of Apple and an incredible technological mind, died at only 56 years of age after a long battle with cancer. His innovative mind transformed the way people compute, enjoy music, and connect with his Apple products.

Elizabeth Taylor (Feb 27, 1932- Mar 23, 2011), a renowned actress famous for her beauty and her devotion to charities, died after suffering from congestive heart failure. Taylor was a two-time Oscar winner and was well-known for her commitment to fight AIDS.

Christopher Hitchens (Apr 13, 1949- Dec 15, 2011), the famous atheist and British author who gained a lot of media attention after questioning the popular devotion to Mother Teresa, also struggled with cancer. He was a popular columnist for a number of magazines, including The Atlantic, Vanity Fair, Slate, World Affairs, and others.

Muammar Gaddafi (Jun 1942- Oct 20, 2011), former ruler of Libya, was killed by rebel forces in Sirte after a prolonged battle to oust him from the country. Gaddafi was a vicious dictator who ruled Libya for nearly four decades, and the recent uprising of the Arab Spring brought angry rebels to overthrow him in the midst of much bloodshed.

Amy Winehouse (Sept 14, 1983- Jul 23, 2011) was found dead in her London home at the age of 27. Winehouse had risen to fame after the release of her “Back to Black” album. Reports from her coroner concluded that she had died from alcohol poisoning after years of addiction.

Time Magazine’s Person of the Year

clip_image004

The Protestor

But sorry Tea Party… you didn't make the cut, again. Only Occupy Wall Street and Arab Spring protestors were apparently worthy of inclusion.

Politico:

The honor of Time magazine's 2011 "Person of the Year" goes to "the protester" - from the demonstrators across the Arab world to the Occupy Wall Street movement that continues to make headlines.

"In the U.S., three acute and overlapping money crises - tanked economy, systemic financial recklessness, gigantic public debt - along with ongoing revelations of double dealing by banks, new state laws making certain public-employee-union demands illegal and the refusal of Congress to consider even slightly higher taxes on the very highest incomes mobilized Occupy Wall Street and its millions of supporters," Kurt Andersen writes in the cover story about the protesters.

"Millions of supporters?" Wha? Who? WTF? There were barely 200 Occupy San Francisco protestors at a demonstration last weekend. The big protest planned by the OWS this week - to shut down every port between San Diego and Alaska - fizzled so badly that the press was forced to forget about reporting the original goal. Most ports saw little or no protest activity at all. Only one port was shut down - the Port of Oakland.

If they Tea Party had boasted about closing the ports and then have the demonstrations flop as badly as OWS, it would have been headline news.

There were no "millions" of supporters and there never have been. Nobody knows what to support because the OWS crowd has yet to come up with any specifics to oppose - except hate the bankers and the rich.

I would have only included the Arab Spring protestors because they have indeed brought about change, although most of them are probably not going to like the kinds of changes they have wrought. But now that cities have cleaned the rabble out of their encampments, when is the media going to start winding down their hagiagrphic coverage of a movement with little mass and even less coherence?

Excerpt from the NoisyRoom’s

…Time, did not see it that way. Instead they chose aMarxist/terrorist, er, Protester as Person of the Year. In 2010, which was unwaveringly the year of the Tea Party, they didn’t mention Tea Partiers at all, even though millions protested in peace with no arrests, violence or garbage left behind. The media labeled them radicals and terrorists, which is the epitome of irony considering what the Occupiers actually are and stand for. Same for 2011 for the Tea Party – crickets. But in a move that Joseph Goebbels would have been proud of, the Occupiers grace Time’s cover this year.

But the joke is on Time and the rest of the MSM that are in the tank for Obama and the Progressives on both sides of the aisle. The Tea Party is growing stronger day by day even without face time. Americans recognize the US is in deep, deep doodoo and are fed up with politicians in general.

Instead they are turning towards candidates with American values such as Michele Bachmann and Rick Santorum. Voters have put Tea Party candidates in the House and Senate and that trend will only continue. The Left took a beating in 2010, but baby, you ain’t seen nothing yet. Come 2012, there’s gonna be an ass whooping of epic proportions. And guess what? That includes the RINOs on the right. Progressives on both sides of the aisle are about to have their collective bottoms spanked big time by the voters. Americans are not dumb and they’ve just about had enough. Don’t underestimate the Tea Party – they are the Progressive’s worst nightmare.

So, we welcome 2012 as the ‘Year of Freedom Restored in America!’ It is fitting that January is ‘Hot Tea Month.’ And honey, the Tea Party is just getting warmed up. We are taking our country back and cleaning house. We are researching and exposing all those naughty Progressives who have been so instrumental in trying to bring this great nation to her knees.

The Tea Party fought a rough and tough battle in 2011. And they’ll win the war for the Republic in 2012 if they stick to their guns and chase the corrupt bastards out of office. Whether with votes or tar and feathers, it’s going to be one hell of a ride and I would not miss it for the world.
