T'S A WONDERFUL LIFE
Can You Really Still Believe That None of These People Would Have Done a Better Job???
Woah - I knew things had gotten rocky for President Obama, but for one of the nation’s most outspoken liberals to so publicly turn his back on Obama is a sure sign that Americans have lost that loving feeling for the once ultra-slick campaigner-in-chief.

“When the history is written of this era, this is how you’ll be remembered: he was the first black president,” Moore said during the interview.
“OK, not a bad accomplishment, but that’s it,” he continued. “That’s it, Mr. Obama. 100 years from now, ‘he was the first black American that got elected president’ and that’s it. Eight years of your life and that’s what people are going to remember. Boy, I got a feeling, knowing you, that — you’d probably wish you were remembered for a few other things, a few other things you could’ve done.”
“So, it is, on that level, a big disappointment,” Moore stated.
It’s amazing that I am about to write these words, but I fully agree with Michael Moore on this issue.
President Obama’s legacy will be taught in schools and, sadly, there will likely be few mentions of his disastrous policies that led America to a diminished standing on the world stage. There will be few mentions of his economic policies that condemned millions to poverty and indebtedness for generations. They will gloss-over the radical divisions he helped created between rich and poor, black and white, liberal and conservative; they will simply remember that phrase, “Yes, we can,” and recall to impressionable children that President Obama was simply the first biracial president.
Below is an article written by and explaining the events of the past couple days concerning our good friend Terresa Monroe-Hamilton at the NoisyRoom, Rep. Allen West and the leftist trolls that spend their days spreading propaganda, stirring the pot of dissent and attempting to destroy anyone they don’t like, confuse the issues and manipulate the public. It is all right out of their Alinsky Bible ‘Rules for Radicals’ (Kindle) that every concerned citizen, especially Conservatives, should read and understand… it is their playbook.
This situation saddens me even more than normal because it involves two people I love and admire! Terresa is one of the most hard-working defenders of the truth, freedom and our Constitution that I know, who is amazingly generous, knowledgeable and helpful to other bloggers. She has certainly been a good friend to me personally and a help to us at the AskMarion, DTP, KCP and others. And Lt. Colonial and former Florida Representative Allen West is someone I admire, trust and is the kind of leader we desperately need during the frightening times we live in, who is a role model and ardent defender of freedom and our Constitution. Both the exact opposite of those who created this situation. Marion Algier – AskMarion/KCP
I have been blogging since right after 9/11/2001. This blog was originally focused on counter-terrorism and is now much more into politics and the Constitution. I mix my own opinions with reporting. That has always been the case. Now, a little opinion piece I wrote on October 29th could potentially hurt someone I very much admire and would never, ever intentionally harm: Allen West. I am addressing this now as articles are being written on it by major news outlets and it has been picked up everywhere. It has grown legs so-to-speak. I am being attacked from all over the Left, including the EPA on this one. West is being maligned and it is just wrong. This is the article in question: Back Door Gun Control Moves Forward.
I awoke yesterday morning to hundreds of emails as par for the course over here. One of them I recognized as a Tweet by a Leftie troll right away. I tend to read those if they catch my attention and unfortunately, this one did. Here is the article that was sent to me: Allen West Plagiarizes Anti-Gun Control Article?
It is known far and wide out in the Blogosphere that I will let anyone and everyone use whatever I have. I am honored that Allen West would use my post. I spoke with his office and it was an oversight. They applied attribution and were very kind, thoughtful and gracious to me. There was no intent to plagiarize or do anything that was out of line. My thanks to Allen West and his team. They are always professional and upfront in whatever they do.
So, if the Left’s intent was to turn us against each other on this minor post, you failed – epically. The Conservative blogosphere as a whole, shares with each other. We have ethics and morals and we help each other. There is no finer example of that out there than Allen West.
Over the years I have seen and heard a great deal of my material “borrowed” in the interest of supporting Conservative causes. While it’s always nice to get credit for one’s work, I always keep in mind the Ronald Reagan viewpoint on this: “There is no limit to the amount of good you can do if you don’t care who gets the credit.” It is more important that the message gets out, than if I might accrue some little fame, for which I have no use or desire. Get the message out. Revive Conservative principles. Restore the nation. When that’s done, there will be plenty of time to argue over who gets the credit. My greatest worry here, is that I may hurt Allen West, which I would never knowingly do.
There seems to be a trend here of trying to catch Conservatives with their hands in the cookie jar. Last week it was Rand Paul, this week it is Allen West. I agree with Mike Huckabee that it is absurd. I’ve also noted an uptick of those posting comments on Conservative sites telling them a picture is fake or a premise is wrong and it hurts our credibility. I believe these are plants who are actively attacking us and trying to turn us against each other. I’ll have no part in it period. It smacks of the private Romney dinner that was used to destroy his reputation
Now on to the post itself. As I said before, it was an opinion piece. I do them all the time – I’m a blogger, that’s what I do. A friend of mine, Bob Owens, wrote his own piece which takes issue with my facts. Bob is a brilliant writer and has a point. I will share with you what he wrote in a moment. My contention here, is that even though the notifications of closures started under Bush, Obama’s hand-picked staff at the EPA have really ratcheted up the war on coal, energy and America in general. Closing the plant sets a precedent that I still contend will be used against the Second Amendment. As to only a small percentage of lead there being used for ammo, that may be true, but it still does not change the fact that Obama has promised to shut down the power and manufacturing plants, which he is doing. Please don’t give me the faulty ‘Bush started it,’ ploy. Progressives on both sides of the political aisle own this one, but frankly, Obama is bringing the end game to fruition – he knows exactly what is being done and what the end result will be.
The big question about the story is the fact that the Herculaneum is a primary lead smelter — meaning they don’t produce or manufacture the type of lead commonly used for ammo. Most ammo manufactures use secondary lead (i.e. recycled lead).
“(T)he majority of the lead used by ammunition manufacturers comes from secondary smelters that recycle lead from car batteries,” Bob Owens of Bearing Arms said.
And many ammo manufactures back this claim and agree that the Herculaneum closure isn’t some trick play from the White House.
President and Operations Manager of Missouri Bullet Company said that fears of ammo shortage in the U.S. was a “tempest in a teapot,” adding that the Doe Run closure will have “no impact” on his company’s ability to produce ammo.
“We have not begun production at rates that this will impact,” Steve Weliver of Cape Fear Arsenal told me in an email.
“At this time we do not anticipate any additional strain on our ability to obtain lead,” Tim Brandt of ATK (Federal Premium, CCI, and Speer ammunition), said in reference to the Herculaneum closure in a company FAQ.
Owens added: Roughly 80 percent of “lead used in the United States secondary market (which is what most ammunition manufacturers use) comes from recycled batteries and another 7%-9% of lead on the market comes from other scrap sources … Only 10% of the lead in the U.S. comes from mining.”
Further, the EPA’s battle with the Mo. plant dates back as far as 2003. True, recent 2008 regulations played a role in the closure, but President Obama wasn’t even inaugurated yet.
Bob is much more knowledgeable than I am in this area and I respect what he has written. But I stand by what I wrote and how I feel about it. After all, it was an opinion piece. The fact of the matter is, the plant didn’t close under Bush, it is closing under Obama. Allen and I both believe that closing this plant and others will set precedent and is intended to lead to gun control and infringement of the Second Amendment.
Wonkette and the other loons out there can just stuff it. The Left can’t seem to make up their minds – one day I’m a spy, the next day, I don’t exist. But you can bet, I’m not going anywhere and I will keep writing.
I want to take a special moment and thank Becket Adams at TheBlaze for reporting on this fairly and truthfully. He treated not only Allen West, but myself as well, with respect and dignity. They are, in my opinion once again, what a true media outlet should be and I respect them and count them as my favorite news source even more after yesterday’s developments.
Regardless of what I wrote, Allen West and his people are innocent in this and are being needlessly hounded over an innocent and very minor mistake. All of us have forgotten to attribute or have made a mistake while writing. Few of us have the backbone, ethics and courage of Allen West. Recognize all the Alinsky tactics being used from ridicule to pick the target, freeze it, personalize it and polarize it, for what they are… just another squirrel moment in politics.
Weekly Standard: Bill Maher, the largest donor to President Obama's super PAC, called Mormonism a "cult" on his HBO show last night, and said that donating money to that religion doesn't count as charity because it's "bulls---."
Maher has given the president's super PAC a cool one million dollars. "The biggest individual donor revealed Friday was hedge fund billionaire James H. Simons, who cut a $1 million check to Majority PAC at the end of last month," Politico reported. That matches him with controversial comedian Bill Maher, who gave $1 million to Priorities USA Action in February, as the biggest Democratic super PAC donors so far this year."
Considering Maher's financial support of Obama's reelection effort, one can't help but wonder whether his views on Mormonism are in line with the president's and his supporters.
Class Warfare: S.E. Cupp Battles Bill Maher And Panel Over ‘Demonizing Prosperity’
On Real Time with Bill Maher tonight, the host and panel took on the general election race. When Maher brought up the class warfare seemingly being waged between Mitt Romney and President Obama, S.E. Cupp argued that Democrats should not be “demonizing success” and defended Romney by pointing to his charitable donations. Maher shot back by pointing out they were to the Mormon church, and both ended up in a back-in-forth over whether Romney was giving to the poor through the church or not.
After some talk about how both campaigns are trying to capture the youth vote, Maher brought up the Obama campaign’s new tactic of going after Mitt Romney as a radical conservative rather than painting him as a flip-flopper, a strategy that worked when the George W. Bush campaign used it against John Kerry eight years ago. Paul Begala said it was effective then because it was during a time of war and the intent was to portray Kerry as “weak.” And while Begala did not dismiss the notion that Romney is a habitual flip-flopper, he argued that in a time of recession, the Democrats are going after Romney for “amassing power and wealth at the expense of the middle class.”
Cupp admitted she couldn’t figure out why the Obama team has suddenly abandoned a narrative that has worked somewhat effectively against Romney early on in the campaign. She suggested that if the president’s campaign played it smart, they could try to paint Romney as being in alliance with Obama’s policies, only to then argue that the Republican nominee has less experience. Andrew Ross Sorkin agreed with Begala, saying the “right wing crazy person” narrative works better for the Obama team. Cupp shot back, saying they could not honestly make that out to be the case, but Sorkin explained that if the key to winning the election is moderates, Obama can’t afford to imply through accusations of flip-flopping that Romney is a “Massachusetts moderate.”
Maher boiled down Romney’s basic problem with the public to “Mitt Romney is everything the American people hate about a politician.” Yet despite this (or perhaps the two are somewhat correlated), Maher credited Romney for being a “master politician.” He called out the candidate’s “straw man” argument telling Americans who think there’s something wrong with success to “vote for the other guy,” and argued President Obama himself is an example of the kind of success Romney was talking about.
“Does he think he’s more successful than Barack Obama? Do you? Barack Obama was born of a single mother on food stamps, and he became the first black president of the racist states of America. And Mitt Romney is the son of a rich dad, and he’s a rich dad? Who really is more successful?”
Cupp argued that it shouldn’t matter whose success is worth more than the other’s and that their accomplishments should be equally celebrated. She said that many previous presidents were personally successful and rather wealthy when they came into office.
Begala shot back that Obama wants to give young people today the same opportunities for success he had, while Romney wants to close them off. Cupp tried to split the difference between Romney the politician and Romney the person, bringing up his charitable donations to poor people. Maher interrupted her by claiming Romney’s donations were going to the Mormon church.
Cupp argued that he was giving back to the poor through the church, but Maher was having none of it. He dismissed Cupp’s claims as “bullshit,” and she shot back by being amazed that Maher was demonizing “charity based on religion.”
Sunlight is said to be the best of disinfectants; electric light the most efficient policeman. – Louis Brandeis
This is the defining statement that The Sunlight Foundation claims to base their cause on. Oh, if that were only even remotely true…
Founded in January 2006, the Foundation has a stated goal of using the revolutionary power of the Internet and new information technology to enable citizens to learn more about what Congress and their elected representatives are doing and thus help reduce corruption, ensure greater transparency and accountability by government and foster public trust in the vital institutions of democracy. At the declared core of all of the Foundation’s work is a focus on the power of technology and the Internet to transform the relationship between citizen’s and their government.
The truth is somewhat different however. The Foundation and its many tentacles, began in 2006 during the Bush Administration. I suspect it was meant to be used to skew political instances against the Republicans in order to assure an Obama win in 2008 – to snare them in a web of record so-to-speak. It made for a great political weapon and it certainly didn’t hurt. However, during the current Administration, much of what The Sunlight Foundation and its minions record is either soft-balled, inaccurate or twisted to make it look more favorable. Politics at its finest! It is a very insidious and clever form of propaganda, claiming one thing, while in reality doing the opposite. A classic Progressive tactic.
Claiming non-partisanship and not officially supporting any candidate, in 2007, the Foundation did have three specific priorities for the incoming Congress in 2007:
· Contemporaneous online filing: “The public reports about campaign receipts and expenditures, personal financial disclosure, trips, gifts and travel currently required of lawmakers should be filed electronically [on a monthly basis] and shared online within 24 hours of their filing.” Moreover, the Foundation believes that candidates’ Personal Financial Disclosure reports should be amended to require disclosure of the affiliations of lawmakers (and their family members) with political organizations or charities.
· Ending secret legislation: “All earmarks, bills, and amendments should include an identification of the proposing Member’s name. All non-emergency legislation should be posted online, in its final form, at least 72 hours before a vote.”
· Meaningful lobbyist disclosure: “All who are paid to engage in direct issue advocacy with lawmakers and their staff should be required to register, and all registered lobbyists should disclose all legislative contacts, all legislation and regulations discussed, all contributions they make and coordinate to Members and organizations affiliated with members, all prior government employment, and any relationship to a current Member of Congress, staff member, or executive branch employee.”
Now, I ask you, has ANYONE made any noise about the above three priorities during the Obama Administration that you know of? Token at best and primarily against the right side of the aisle. In fact the left side of the aisle has done the opposite of the above – they have gone all gonzo on financial corruption, meetings in secret, undecipherable legislation for nefarious purposes, power grabs and shredding the Constitution. Either The Sunlight Foundation is massively incompetent or corrupt. I vote for number two, Bob.
The Foundation’s initial projects – from the establishment of a Congresspedia, the making of “transparency grants” for the development and enhancement of databases and websites and two separate efforts to engage the public in distributed journalism and offer online tutorials on the role of money in politics efforts – are based on the premise that the collective power of citizens to demand greater accountability is the clearest route to reform.
Unfortunately, the supporters of The Sunlight Foundation are suspect and funding is provided, in part, by George Soros. Therefore, the transparency and the claim of participants of self-policing blogs etc., while reducing corruption and increasing accountability, is highly doubtful and most likely is being used to an extent as a propaganda outlet.
The Sunlight Foundation was founded by Ellen Miller and Michael Klein because of claimed concerns about the influence of money and relationships, as well as a fear of corruption, in Congress. The Sunlight Foundation was launched in April 2006 with a $3.5 million contribution from co-founder Michael Klein, a securities lawyer.
Another Senior Fellow at the Foundation is Larry Makinson, who was a journalist in Alaska in the mid-1980s and then worked for fifteen years at the Center for Responsive Politics (CRP), including two years as its Executive Director. After leaving CRP he spent a year as Senior Fellow at the Center for Public Integrity.
The National Director of The Sunlight Foundation is Zephyr Teachout, who formerly worked as a lecturer at the University of Vermont and was Director of Online Organizing for Howard Dean‘s 2004 presidential campaign. A licensed attorney, Teachout has represented indigent death-row inmates in North Carolina for the Center for Death Penalty Litigation; she was also the co-founding Executive Director of the Fair Trial Initiative, a fellowship program that trains young lawyers in death penalty trial work.
Are you seeing a pattern yet? I am. Almost all of these lean left and/or are Progressive. Well spent funds indeed.
The Sunlight Foundation website features or featured four blogs on the subject of ethics and money in Washington D.C.; they are run by four of its principals: Citizen’s Notebook (Zephyr Teachout); Sunspots (Ellen Miller); Under the Influence (Bill Allison) and Dollarocracy (Larry Makinson). I’m not sure if all of these still exist, but they are leftist in nature and purpose. The Sunlight Foundation’s site currently reads like a conservative hit piece.

That’s just 2011. Question – is charity in the name of political expediency still charity? The Foundation doesn’t try to hide any of its connections – it’s right there for all to see. George Soros is The Open Society Institute. Do you really think these organizations are being ethical and transparent when they are bought and paid for by the likes of George Soros? If you do, I have a bridge to sell you and some great swamp land that you really must see or not.
Just how deep does Sunlight go down the Soros spider hole? All the way to the bottom baby. Don’t mistake sunlight for an on-coming Progressive freight train bent on manipulating political data online.
Credit card fraud is a serious problem. But race-card fraud is an even bigger problem.
Playing the race card takes many forms. Judge Charles Pickering, a federal judge in Mississippi who defended the civil rights of blacks for years and defied the Ku Klux Klan back when that was dangerous, was depicted as a racist when he was nominated for a federal appellate judgeship.
No one even mistakenly thought he was a racist. The point was simply to discredit him for political reasons- and it worked.
This year's target is the Tea Party. When leading Democrats, led by a smirking Nancy Pelosi, made their triumphant walk on Capitol Hill, celebrating their passage of a bill in defiance of public opinion, Tea Party members on the scene protested.
All this was captured on camera and the scene was played on television. What was not captured on any of the cameras and other recording devices on the scene was anybody using racist language, as has been charged by those playing the race card.
When you realize how many media people were there, and how many ordinary citizens carry around recording devices of one sort or another, it is remarkable- indeed, unbelievable- that racist remarks were made and yet were not captured by anybody.
The latest attack on the Tea Party movement, by Ben Jealous of the NAACP, has once again played the race card. Like the proverbial lawyer who knows his case is weak, he shouts louder.
This is not the first time that an organization with an honorable and historic mission has eventually degenerated into a tawdry racket. But that an organization like the NAACP, after years of fighting against genuine racism, should now be playing the game of race-card fraud is especially painful to see.
Some critics of the Tea Party have seized upon banners carried at one of its rallies that compared Obama with Hitler and Stalin. Extreme? Yes. But there was nothing racist about it, since extreme comparisons have been made about politicians of every race, color, creed, nationality, ideology and sexual preference.
Some Obama supporters have long regarded any criticism of him as racism. But that they should have to resort to such a banner to bolster their case shows how desperate they are for any evidence.
Among people who voted for President Barack Obama in 2008, those who are likely to be most disappointed are those who thought that they were voting for a new post-racial era. There was absolutely nothing in Obama's past to lead to any such expectation, and much to suggest the exact opposite. But the man's rhetoric and demeanor during the election campaign enabled this and many other illusions to flourish.
Still, it was an honest mistake of the kind that decent people have often made when dealing with people whose agendas are not constrained by decency, but only by what they think they can get away with.
On race, as on other issues, different people have radically different views of Obama, depending on whether they judge him by what he says or by what he does.
As Obama's own books point out, he has for years cultivated a talent for saying things that people will find congenial.
You want bipartisanship and an end to bickering in Washington? He will say that he wants bipartisanship and an end to bickering in Washington. Then he will shut Republicans out of the decision-making process and respond to their suggestions by reminding them that he won the election. A famous writer- Ring Lardner, I believe- once wrote: "'Shut up,' he explained."
You want a government that is open instead of secretive? He will say that. He will promise to post proposed legislation on the Internet long enough for everyone to read it and know what is in it before there is a vote.
In practice, however, he has rushed massive bills through Congress too fast for anybody- even the members of Congress- to know what was in those bills.
Racial issues are more of the same. You want a government where all citizens are treated alike, regardless of race or ethnicity? Obama will say that.
Then he will advocate appointing judges with "empathy" for particular segments of the population, such as racial minorities. "Empathy" is just a pretty word for the ugly reality of bias.
Obama's first nomination of a Supreme Court justice was a classic example of someone with "empathy" for some racial groups, but not others. As a Circuit Court judge, Sonia Sotomayor voted to dismiss a case involving white firefighters who had been denied the promotions for which they qualified, because not enough blacks or Hispanics passed the same test that they did.
A fellow Hispanic judge protested the way the white firefighters' case was dismissed, rather than adjudicated. Moreover, the Supreme Court not only took the case, it ruled in favor of the firefighters.
Obama's injecting himself into a local police matter in Massachusetts, despite admitting that he didn't know the facts, to say that a white policeman was in the wrong in arresting a black professor who was a friend of Obama, was more of the same. So is Obama's Justice Department overlooking blatant voter intimidation by thugs who happen to be black.
There is not now, nor has there ever been, anything post-racial about Obama, except for the people who voted for him in the mistaken belief that he shared their desire to be post-racial. When he leaves office, especially if it is after one term, he will leave this country more racially polarized than before.
Hopefully, he may also leave the voters wiser, though sadder, after they learn from painful experience that you can't judge politicians by their rhetoric, or ignore their past because of your hopes for the future. Voters may even wise up to race card fraud.

Many American, if only subconsciously, voted for Barack Hussein Obama in the hope that his election would finally put an end to the racial tensions in America. Instead racial tensions have not been higher in decades than they are now with Obama at the helm. And the reason for that is Obama and the Progressive left’s consistent use of the race card since he had been in office. Obama and his minions are the ones who have been divisive and derisive… not white main street America, not the tea party and not republicans. Here is just another example:
Sheila Jackson Lee’s question and insane if you use any logic and facts at all and her insinuations are race driven. Nancy Pelosi’s support of Lee’s statements and ideologically driven, for she is one of the most ideologically left politicians on the Hill. The left is obsessed with race and using it as a tool to control and divide people for their purposes and they are rewriting history to serve their purposes. The race card, divide and conquer, multiculturalism and political correctness are all tools of the division and of the left!
The reason Obama’s and buddy Geithner’s latest debt ceiling increase request was such a fight has nothing to do with the fact that Obama is half black, but rather that he has doubled our national debt in 18 months and is bankrupting our country with his spending and ideology.
Star Parker, a black author, former GOP Congressional candidate, and political activist, radio personality and speaker, who used to be a welfare recipient, will tell you (and often does) that the whole divide and conquer philosophy and keeping minorities on the government dole is part of the progressive left’s plan and ideology and we all bought into it…. blacks and whites!
‘A SLAVE HOLDER NAMED THOMAS JEFFERSON’: IS SMITHSONIAN‘S NEW ’RACE’ EXHIBIT - FAIR TO FOUNDING FATHER? HARDLY!!!
Which major government-funded U.S. museum currently features an exhibit that classifies Thomas Jefferson as simply “a slave holder”?
The Smithsonian Museum of Natural History currently features an exhibit titled "Race: Are We So Different?"
That would be the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History, located in the heart of nation’s capital.
Developed by the American Anthropological Association, “Race: Are We So Different” offers “an unprecedented look at race and racism in the United States,” according to the Smithsonian’s website.
The Blaze visited the exhibit and found a couple of things that might surprise you.
A five-minute video at the front of the hall sets up the visitor’s experience, which in addition to describing Christopher Columbus as someone who only “colonized and conquered” the natives he encountered, refers to Jefferson merely as a “slave holder”:
“Race,” the narrator says, “is a powerful idea that was invented by society.”
“Many of the ideas we now associate with race originated during the European era of exploration. Europeans like Christopher Columbus traveled overseas and encountered and then colonized and conquered peoples in Africa, Asia and the Americas who looked, talked and acted much differently from them.
“In the American colonies, the first laborers were European indentured servants. When African laborers were forcibly brought to Virginia beginning in 1619, status was defined by wealth and religion, not by physical characteristics such as skin color. But this would change.
“By 1776 when “All men are created equal” was written into the Declaration of Independence by a slave holder named Thomas Jefferson, a democratic nation was born with a major contradiction about race at its core. As our new nation asserted its independence from European tyranny, blacks and American Indians were viewed as less than human and not deserving of the same liberties as whites.”
A display in another part of the exhibit features a historical timeline of slavery. The entry for the year 1784 states: “Thomas Jefferson, future U.S. president and likely the father of at least one of the slaves he owned, publishes ‘Notes on the State of Virginia.’” It quotes Jefferson’s writing, where he posits whether blacks are a distinct, inferior race from whites and if that would be an obstacle to their emancipation.
Jefferson did of course own slaves — hundreds throughout his lifetime. But his feelings on slavery were also much more complex than the exhibit suggests — in other writings he called it “an abominable crime” and “moral depravity.” He drafted Virginia’s 1778 law banning the importation of enslaved Africans and separately proposed slavery be outlawed in the new Northwest territories.
But “Race: Are We So Different?” does not cover any of that. None of the exhibit’s written displays examines these nuances; the only other details offered are on a looped video with a historian who says Jefferson knew it was “a massive contradiction” to both own slaves while professing the “lofty ideals” of America — a brief distinction that is easy to miss.
When contacted by The Blaze, Kelly Carnes of the Natural History Museum‘s press office said she could not speak to the exhibit’s content because it was not created by the Smithsonian. Damon Dozier of the American Anthropological Association did not respond to requests for comment.
At the end of the day, a casual Smithsonian visitor is likely to come away from one of the nation’s preeminent museums thinking that one of the Founding Fathers was truly nothing more than a racist slave owner — and remember, since it’s a government-funded museum, you as a taxpayer are paying for it.
Other features of note:
A display titled “Racism’s effects on health“ says ”numerous studies have linked the stress of racism on African Americans to high blood pressure, adding evidence to the claims that racism contributes to the high rates of hypertension among them.“ It adds that racism may also affect health through ”limited access to nutritious food and safe environments for exercise; increased exposure to environmental toxins; reduced quality of health care.”
A display about the history of affirmative action in the U.S. declares, “The legacy of white privilege still runs far ahead of efforts to compensate for it.” It features a note about two 2003 Supreme Court affirmative action rulings, which it says upheld “the limited use of race as a factor in reviewing student [university] applications.” While Grutter v. Bollinger did uphold the use of race for admissions, the ruling in the second case, Gratz v. Bollinger, actually held that the use of simply assigning “points” to someone based on their race was unconstitutional. Beside the display’s text is a photograph of the 2003 court, including Clarence Thomas, the sole African American justice. Thomas has long maintained his views opposing affirmative action, something nowhere to be found on the display.
You can take a virtual tour of the exhibit here. “Race: Are We So Different?” will be on display at the Smithsonian through Jan. 2. 2012
They Who Live by the Race Card Die by the Race Card
Due to Obama's declining poll numbers, Democrat tongues loosened by cocktails at parties are quietly suggesting,"Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could primary Obama out with Hillary? Darn it, we can't because Obama is black!"
I say, "Hallelujah -- a perfect example of divine justice." They who live by the race card die by the race card.
Almost three years ago, the Democrats offered their equivalent of a Trojan Horse to America in the form of a shiny, new, extremely well-crafted, beautiful black man. Its mega-internal speakers broadcast a hypnotic message, heavily reverbed to create a godlike effect and looped 24/7, promising "Hope and Change."
A "perfect storm" of circumstances led to America's enthusiastic embrace of the Democrats' ebony idol Trojan Horse: white guilt, black racism, and perhaps even the popularity of the American Idol TV show. Obama was the first "rock star" American Ebony Idol presidential candidate.
Democrats were elated by their good fortune.
Obama would be the key to implementing all of their liberal-academia, utopia-producing theories, his black skin insulating him from any and all opposition. Oppose Obama? You're racist!
The Democrats keep their R-for-racist branding iron red-hot and ready to apply swift retribution to any feisty, uppity conservative or Republican who dares challenge Obama.
Basking in their tactical genius, Democrats thought, "We did it! We pulled off the perfect exploitation of race to implement our socialistic agenda; a liberal black man in the White House." Someone at the DNC even broke out their old Commodores record as they partied: "Ce-le-brate good times, C'MON!"
As America slept, one night under the cover of darkness, a hidden door in the ebony idol opened; out rushed an army of vicious liberal minions, freedom-killing mandates, and socialistic policies. Their mission: destroy our capitalist system and massacre America as we know it.
Totally unexpected and to the horror of the Democrats, We The People rose up. Patriots, via divine inspiration, formed the Tea Party. Patriot freedom-fighters began winning skirmishes around the country -- governorships in New Jersey, Virginia, and Florida -- and defeating the tyrannous teachers' union in Wisconsin, to name a few. We took the House. We will take the Senate and are predicted to take the White House in 2012.
The Democrats' ebony idol, their so-called gift to America, has been exposed for the fraud it truly is -- a hollow, soulless shell of empty liberal ideology, its internal recorded message malfunctioning and distorted, stuck repeating the phrase, "I blame...I blame...I blame..."
Seeing the handwriting on the wall via polling, the Dems wish they could abandon their disastrous ebony race card for Hillary, their gender card.
But alas, they cannot. After spending the last three years, assisted by their media minions, convincing Americans that any and all criticism of or opposition to Obama is racist, Democrats find themselves victims of their own trap. Fearing the repercussions, Dems do not dare display the slightest abandonment of Obama. I love it! They who live by the race card die by the race card.
Despite the media's relentless attempts to brand us otherwise, the Tea Party has never been about race. Our focus and sole desire have been to uphold the Constitution and restore our freedom, liberty, and culture. The Tea Party's goals are much higher than the Democrats' bottom-feeding agenda of exploiting race for political gain. This is why it is so sweet that they are stuck with their loser black candidate.
You leftists, do not try to spin my comment as being racist. I, along with millions of my white Tea Party brothers and sisters, would gladly cast a presidential vote for blacks such as Herman Cain and Col. Allen West in a heartbeat. So don't even go there.
Ironically, the Democrats who claim ownership of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. shamefully dishonor his dream. The Tea Party, vilified by the Democrats, fully embraces MLK's dream by judging and selecting their candidates by the content of their character rather than the color of their skin. Thus, the Tea Party, much-hated by Democrats, is the realization of MLK's dream. And for the record, MLK was a Republican.
Photo: Sarah Palin and Dr. Alveda King, both speakers at GB’s Restore Honor Event on 8.28.10, on the Anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s… instead of walking with opportunist Al Sharpton
The Democrats played the ultimate race card -- an incompetent affirmative-action president, and now they are stuck with him. The faux finish on their once-shiny ebony idol is rapidly deteriorating, peeling off daily. Come 2012, Obama is a sure loser. "Ce-le-brate good times, C'MON!"
I have written about the dangers of multiculturalism. When ethnic, religious or immigrant groups do not assimilate into a host nation's society bad things happen. Those countries that try to accommodate multiculturalism end up creating a "state within a state". This multiculturalist state at some point begins to flex is political muscle and demands rights not conferred upon native born or naturalized citizens.
Some even demand the host society pay for their presence in order to placate them. In the United States we have illegal aliens demanding citizenship, access to free education, and medical care not offered to native born or naturalized citizens.
Soeren Kern inHudson New York reports, "The Dutch government says it will abandon the long-standing model of multiculturalism that has encouraged Muslim immigrants to create a parallel society within the Netherlands."
According to Soeren, "A new integration bill (covering letter and 15-page action plan), which Dutch Interior Minister Piet Hein Donner presented to parliament on June 16, [2011] reads: 'The government shares the social dissatisfaction over the multicultural society model and plans to shift priority to the values of the Dutch people. In the new integration system, the values of the Dutch society play a central role. With this change, the government steps away from the model of a multicultural society'."
The letter continues: "A more obligatory integration is justified because the government also demands that from its own citizens. It is necessary because otherwise the society gradually grows apart and eventually no one feels at home anymore in the Netherlands. The integration will not be tailored to different groups."
The new integration policy will place more demands on immigrants. For example, immigrants will be required to learn the Dutch language, and the government will take a tougher approach to immigrants to ignore Dutch values or disobey Dutch law.
This effort is supported by the new center-right government of Conservatives (VVD) and Christian Democrats (CDA), with parliamentary support from the anti-Islam Freedom Party (PVV), led by Geert Wilders.
Soeren reports, "[P]olls show that a majority of Dutch voters support the government's skepticism about multiculturalism. According to a Maurice de Hond poll published by the center-right newspaper Trouw on June 19, 74 percent of Dutch voters say immigrants should conform to Dutch values. Moreover, 83 percent of those polled support a ban on burqas in public spaces.
Dutch Interior Minister Donner said, "his government "will distance itself from the relativism contained in the model of a multicultural society. Although society changes it must not be 'interchangeable with any other form of society'."
A lesson learned in Europe.
This is exactly what Herman Cain was talking about a few weeks ago and was criticized for and called to task on again on last Thursday’s debate. Herman Cain says no Sharia Law for America! Video Here.
Yep, multiculturalism has failed and the worst is yet to come
The Fire This Time - By Patrick J. Buchanan
Friday - August 12, 2011
"You've damaged your own race," said Mayor Michael Nutter to the black youths of Philadelphia whose flash mobs have been beating and robbing shoppers in the fashionable district of downtown. "Take those God-darn hoodies down," the mayor went on in his blistering lecture. "Pull your pants up and buy a belt, 'cause no one wants to see your underwear or the crack of your butt."
And the mayor had some advice for teenagers looking for work. "You walk into somebody's office with your hair uncombed and a pick in the back and your shoes untied and your pants half down, tattoos up and down your arms and on your neck, and you wonder why somebody won't hire you?"
"They don't hire you 'cause you look like you're crazy." Nutter is African-American and the first leader to speak out about the racial character of the flash mobs attacking people in one American city after another. And where are our other leaders? At the Iowa State Fair last August, black thugs beat a white man so savagely he was hospitalized. Police only began to look into the possibility of a racial attack and hate crime after fair-goers said the thugs were calling it "Beat Whitey Night."
After Memorial Day, Chicago cops had to close a beach when a flash mob formed, attacked people and knocked cyclists off bikes. In Miami Beach, there were beatings and shootings that same weekend. In D.C., flash mobs of black youths have turned up a half-dozen times in stores to loot clothes and merchandise and flee. The media almost never identify the race of the thugs. Their reticence would disappear were a white mob in some Southern city to be caught beating up on black shoppers at a mall.
But the flash mob scourge hitting U.S. cities has been eclipsed by the pillaging and burning of London and other British cities in the worst violence visited on that nation and its capital since Goering's Luftwaffe executed the "Blitz."
Thousands of hoodlums, thugs and criminals have firebombed buildings, looted stores and stripped, beaten and robbed people for no reason other than that they were white.
Overwhelmed cops virtually surrendered the city for three days. By the fourth night, the rampage had taken on a multiethnic caste as Asians and white trash appeared to join in the festival of criminality.
Asian and black store owners, too, are victims. In Birmingham, three Pakistani men defending their neighborhood were run over and killed by a truck reportedly driven by a black rioter.
In a country-and-gospel tune recalled often in the '60s, the one that gave James Baldwin the title of his polemic, this couplet appears:
God gave Noah the rainbow sign, No more water, the fire next time.
A half-century after the long hot summers of the 1960s and two decades after the worst riot in U.S. history since the New York draft riots of 1863 -- the Los Angeles riot of 1992, in which blacks and Hispanics attacked Koreans and whites -- the "next time" may have arrived.
In Europe, the harbinger of the new century came a half-decade ago when North African youths in the Paris banlieues went on a days-long rampage of firebombing cars and attacking police and firemen, many of whom drove off and let the fires burn out.
This week, it was London's turn. And when the fires burn out, we shall hear anew the old liberal litany about poverty, despair, inequality and unemployment, the excuses that long ago ceased to persuade.
For poverty existed in far greater measure in the Depression. Yet our parents and grandparents did not form mobs to burn, beat and loot.
The West is in decline because the character of its people is in decline. In Europe, Christianity is dead. The moral code it gave men to live righteously is regarded with mockery. The London riots were the work of moral barbarians with no loyalty to the people in whose midst they live and no love for the society to which they give nothing, only take.
In America, millions of fatherless young seek out in gangs the familial ties they never knew. Those gangs are now almost always formed on the basis of ethnicity or race.
What were the British thinking when they threw open their doors to mass immigration from the Third World?
Over centuries, they had failed to assimilate a few million Irish, who were European Christians. So, having failed to assimilate the Irish, they decided to invite in millions of Hindus and Muslims from South Asia, Arabs from the Middle East, Africans from the sub-Sahara, black folks from the Caribbean.
But with no common faith or culture to hold the nation together, Britain is coming apart. Multiculturalism has "utterly failed," said Germany's Angela Merkel, only to be echoed by Nicolas Sarkozy and David Cameron.
Is multiculturalism a success here? Or does the sudden eruption of flash mobs suggest that the curtain has begun to be pulled back on diversity's dark side here in America?
Wake-up America… since we haven’t managed to use our common sense perhaps we can read the signs and warning from Europe… just look at France and the riots in Great Britain this past week. Multiculturalism like political correctness are tools of the Progressive left, of Marxism, and they don’t work. They destroy societies and whole countries!!
Language Alert: This really is a must watch unless you are squeamish about bad language!!
Felonious Munk speaks on the economic state of America and why we shouldn't pay our bills.
When Glenn Beck heard the following rant by comedian Felonious Munk, he couldn’t believe it. You probably won’t either.
Munk is known for recording wild, profanity-laced YouTube rants as part of a series he calls “Stop It B!” Sometimes it’s hard to tell what he really believes and what is part of his routine. But we’ll let you make up your mind regarding his latest rant — a stern message to Obama about the debt ceiling and America paying its bills.
There’s no way to really sum it up, except for that it has a lot of GRAPHIC LANGUAGE and you’ll need headphones to watch if you are in public, at work or near kids. You also might need to cover your mouth from laughing — or gasping…
Someone sent me this the other day and kept meaning to post it and send it out to my list. I did send it to Beck, Rush, Greta and O’Reilly though. (…not that I’m taking credit for Beck getting it on the Blaze) I laughed, gasped, and cheered!! It is about time I thought!! It is a sad day when a foul mouthed comedian has more sense than the President and those who surround him in the White House (and I don’t want to hear about the Congress because as Democratic President Harry Truman said… the buck stops with the President!), and it is just as sad when a comedian has more guts than most Americans to speak up!!
Ask Marion~
Update:
FELONIOUS MUNK TALKS COMEDY, OBAMA, & WHY HE WOULD JOIN GBTV WITH THE BLAZE
A phone interview with Felonious Munk isn‘t what you’d expect from an energetic, foul-mouthed comedian. He swore once. Ranted just little. And explained how he used to be a finance director making six figures. It’s a job he gave up to do comedy (much to the chagrin of his mother). And now, it‘s a job that’s led him to grab the attention of Glenn Beck.
“I definitely appreciate that kind of exposure,” he said of his recent rant against Obama becoming a favorite on Beck’s radio show. Still, he included a caveat: “You got to keep in mind, it puts me in a unique position as a black guy who has questioned Obama.”
In the three-minute video posted on his YouTube channel recently, Munk berated the government and president Obama for not paying the country’s bills and racking up debt. All with a unique, profanity-laced flavor that left many laughing and gasping at the same time.
For the most part, the reaction to those words from the black community “hasn’t been that bad.” But there are detractors who don’t like him speaking out against a black president. Munk had a message for them:
“It’s disingenuous to complain about a black man saying something about Obama, when, during President Bush’s reign [he made sure to point out he meant to say "reign"] if you spoke out against the government at that time it was kind of this, ‘oh, you‘re not patriotic’ thing. And black people thought that was ridiculous. Well, if that was ridiculous then, it‘s just as ridiculous for you to say that I can’t speak out against Obama.”
So where does the long-bearded comedian, not afraid to criticize Obama, stand politically?
“I hate partisan anything” he told The Blaze from Virginia Beach, VA. “I rant just as much about Republicans as I do Democrats. I rant just as much about the Tea Party as I do liberals.” In fact, he thinks the idea of loyalty to a party is “retarded.”
In fact, he said he supports the president — whether George W. Bush or Barack Obama. But he always retains “the constitutional right to say, ‘that’s ridiculous.’”
Still can’t pin him down? You probably won’t be able to put him in a simple partisan box. Consider this: he’s not a fan of the health care bill (he calls it the “ugliest quilted blanket of health care crap I’ve ever seen”), but has a soft spot for Canada’s single-payer health system.
That seems to lean liberal.
“I think our government has made everything they possible could more difficult, and that‘s just during Obama’s presidency,” he said, later adding, “I think [the health care bill] was one of those things where you made a promise and now you force yourself to keep that promise even though what you eventually came up with was crap.” In other words, “squash it.”
That seems to lean conservative.
He doesn’t think the country is headed for communism like some conservatives, but he believes some of the “socialist” programs put in place during the Great Depression weren’t meant to go on indefinitely, and now some people have become dependent on them.
Liberal and conservative?
The rant he delivered that caught Beck’s eye, he explained, was just one of many issues he has with the president.
“There are, oh my God, a million things.” For example, he’s opposed to foreign aid to Somalia and Israel alike.
Still, he admits some of the things he ranted about in the video were slightly exaggerated for comedic effect.
What is he, then? How about a comedic conundrum.
Who is Felonious Munk?
Felonious Munk isn’t really Felonious Munk. His real name is Dennis Banks. And he said this is the first time he’s admitted that to the media.
He has a surprisingly deep knowledge of history — he spouted off people (both politicians and comedians) and terms from days past like he was, well, a stand-up version of Beck. And his path to comedy wasn’t an ordinary one. He went to college for accounting but then switched to IT after being bored with the former. He then worked in finance for almost 12 years, specifically in the car sales business.
Then, he said, the economy “forced” him into comedy — which is a way of saying business wasn’t good so he chose to do what he loved.
Still, his brand of comedy is different. There are curse words. It can be crass. There are plenty of laughs. But he also wants his craft to make people think.
“I thought comedy was always, ‘make me laugh, but let me go home and think about it,’” he explained, which he says is the offspring of his humor and his different way of thinking about things. Now he’s traveling across the country sharing it with as many people as possible.
And now, because of Beck, he’s tapping an audience that might not have ever known about him. And he’s okay with that. He’s even going to work it into his routine.
“I’m sure Glenn Beck is going to be a part of a few of my shows coming up. As a matter of fact, he’ll probably get a tribute video,” he said chuckling. Which is ironic, he added, because he’s made videos bashing Fox News in the past.
Almost twenty minutes into the interview, he finally started cracking jokes: “I think it’s kind of cool that Glenn Beck sees this video and goes, ‘Wow, this guy who kind of looks like bin Laden makes a point that I agree with.’” He‘s even thinking about donning a turban and Photoshopping himself shaking Beck’s hand.
And what about Beck’s own joke at the end of his radio show Thursday, wondering if Munk (or Banks) would be willing to join GBTV as a comedian?
“Truthfully, the only way you could get me to shave my beard is if I had that opportunity,” he said while laughing. “If Glenn Beck wanted to make me the Lewis Black of his new TV show, tell him I’m all over it, I’ve got material for months, and I’ve got a couple of really nice suits.”
“We could be like the Run DMC of the new politics.”
Socialist Party of America Releases The Names of 70 Democrat Members Of Congress Who Are Members Of Their Caucus
(Also see the link to Progressives in Congress and Government)
I found this interesting… I was watching On the Record’s two hour special last night on the debt negotiations and Boehner’s and Obama’s speeches with Greta Van Susteren. She made a comment to one of her guests, Rick Klein from ABC World News, about how interesting it was that the right was represented so heavily in Congress now through the new tea party candidates, but not the left. Greta is one of the less conservative Fox New Anchors (not as liberal as Geraldo or Sheppard Smith) but I had to shake my head and wonder is she really that naïve or much more left and than I had hoped?!? All I could say was you have got to be kidding me and God help u!!
The fascinating thing is that all of sudden believing in fiscal responsibility and defending the Constitution makes you are a right wing extremist. Goes to show you that the left has done a great job on the media and on many Americans who don’t really pay attention to what is going on and depend on the our now government controlled leftist main stream media completely for their news. Here is the list of the Tea Party Caucus and there are a few in the Senate like Jim DeMint, Mike Lee, Jerry Moran and Rand Paul, etc.
Socialist Party of America Releases The Names of 70 Democrat Members Of Congress Who Are Members Of Their Caucus
A socialist is someone who has read Lenin and Marx. An anti-socialist is someone who understands Lenin and Marx.~ Ronald Reagan
By Gary P Jackson
This should come as a surprise to absolutely no one. The radical Marxist-progressives (communists) took control of the democrat party some time ago. They’ve only become more emboldened with the election of Barack Obama, who was raised as a communist from birth.
With their new found leader, Barack Obama, the Socialist Party of America felt secure enough to announce the names of 70 democrats in Congress that belong to their caucus. This was recently posted on Scribd.com:
American Socialist Voter–
Q: How many members of the U.S. Congress are also members of the DSA?
A: Seventy
Q: How many of the DSA members sit on the Judiciary Committee?
A: Eleven: John Conyers [Chairman of the Judiciary Committee], Tammy Baldwin, Jerrold Nadler, Luis Gutierrez,
Melvin Watt, Maxine Waters, Hank Johnson, Steve Cohen, Barbara Lee, Robert Wexler, Linda Sanchez
[There are 23 Democrats on the Judiciary Committee of which eleven, almost half, are now members of the DSA].
And let us not forget the Progressive Caucus and a few out and out admitted self-Communist Bernie Sanders… and the self proclaimed Marxists in the White House
Though I’m sure you’ll recognize many names on the list, one notable is Pete Stark who recently told members in his district that the federal government can do pretty much anything it feels like:
Other than Bernie Sanders of Vermont, who openly ran as a socialist, the rest of this lot ran as “moderatedemocrats.” I think it’s time we put the myth of the “moderate” democrat to bed. They are all Marxists, or Marxist leaning. They all are big government totalitarians hell-bent on destroying America, the Constitution, and our way of life. One needs no other proof than the way Congress has acted since the Marxist-democrats took control four years ago, and the tyranny that has been championed since Obama was sworn in.
Socialism, communism, Marxism, whatever you want to call it, is a vile, dangerous ideology. The people that practice this religion of hate, and that’s what it is, a religion, are evil. Marxism demands a strict centralized command and control government, where the people surrender all of their rights to the almighty government. Government replaces God as savior of man. This is why you see these power hungry demons work relentlessly to control every aspect of your lives. What you eat, what you drink, and so on. It’s a very diseased ideology.
Although the Socialists of America don’t out their party’s leader, Barack Obama, there is little need.
The “New Party” claimed Barack Obama was a card carrying member in a 1996 newsletter found on internet archive.
Via Politically Drunk on Power: In June sources released information that during his campaign for the State Senate in Illinois, Barack Obama was endorsed by an organization known as the Chicago “New Party“. The ‘New Party‘ was a political party established by the Democratic Socialists of America (the DSA) to push forth the socialist principles of the DSA by focusing on winnable elections at a local level and spreading the Socialist movement upwards…
…”New Party members and supported candidates won 16 of 23 races, including an at-large race for the Little Rock, Ark., City Council, a seat on the county board for Little Rock and the school board for Prince George’s County, Md. Chicago is sending the first New Party member to Congress, as Danny Davis, who ran as a Democrat, won an overwhelming 85% victory. New Party member Barack Obama was uncontested for a State Senate seat from Chicago. “
More here at No Quarter.
So much for the “Obama is a moderate” meme his media stenographers are pushing. Next time that really annoying democrat you know tells you there are no communists in the Marxist-democrat party, show them this. Their party is infected with them.
You might also give them this link. After all, only 100 million people were murdered in the name of communism! (or more)
Can’t happen in America?
Remember Obama’s murdering domestic terrorist buddy William Ayers, the fellow who ghost wrote Obama’s first book? (allegedly) Well, Ayers and Weather Underground co-founder Jeff Jones, who helped write much of the $1 trillion Obama stimulus package, were dead serious. As FBI informant Larry Grathwohl points out in the video below, Obama’s mentors not only advocated re-education camps for those who didn’t go along with their visions of a communist utopia, they were prepared to slaughter as many as 25 million Americans to make their nightmare come true!
There is a lot more you can read about here.
Remember, these people are now “respected educators” and members of foundations. They are also close to Barack Obama.
Oh, and don’t forget the “mainstream media.” ” journalists and members of academia are communists Many “.
A look at the 45 Communist Goals For Take Over Of America shows us that the Marxists are well on their way to realizing their sick vision for America.
This is why it is essential to defeat every democrat in every election, at every level. They are the natural enemy of Freedom, Liberty, and the American way. They are the enemy of the Constitution, as well as the Rule of Law. They must all be defeated, and their kind must never be elected again.
As we saw with the recent death wishes for Sarah Palin by NH Marxist-democrat politicians, as well as the hundreds Stacy Drake recently reported on, these people ARE exactly like the bloodthirsty radicals Larry Grathwohl described in the videos above: Evil, and highly dangerous.
Created during the period of the Second Red Scare (1946–1954), the Act was one of many bills drafted with the intention of protecting America from the potential threat posed by the international Communists.[1] During this time, some argued that “the pursuit of subversive aims even by peaceful means should [have been] outlawed.” [2] Thus, many opposed Communism because of its supposed “subversive aim” to undermine democracy. In the words of the prominent sociologist Ernest van den Haap, there was “no place in democracy for those who want[ed] to abolish [it] even with a peaceful vote.” [2]
At one time the Liberals had something to worry about but as we can now see, just as those of "homosexual persuasion have exited the closet", the liberals, democrats, are now un-afraid
and are exiting the closet of Communist labeling as they have grown in numbers and Americans have been asleep at the wheel thus lending, unknowingly and as executed by the dumbing down
of our educational and media systems. We are now in the red zone and unless we turn the head waters of Communism now, we will be in a blood bath and on a path of no return to civility.
Take note:
The overwhelming support provided by the liberals has attracted much attention from historians such as Mary McAuliffe (The Journal of American History). McAuliffe argues that, despite the liberals’ traditional role as the protectors of fundamental rights and civil liberties, the perceived gravity of the threat of Communism during the Cold War led some liberals to ignore the fact that the CCA suspended the citizenship rights of the Communist Party members. Most liberals did not even offer a token opposition to the Act; on the contrary, they ardently supported it. McAuliffe further acknowledges that the Act “served to avert possible disaster for individual politicians” who feared being labeled as Communists for their left-minded ideas. In the words of Senator Humphrey, “the amendment [was sought] to remove any doubt in the Senate as to where [Democrats and liberals] [stood] on the issue of Communism.” [1] An article published in the Michigan Law Review in 1955 suggested that the Communist Control Act was a “dramatic political gesture” rather than a genuine attempt to “kill Communism at its root.”[3]
If you think the left hasn’t gone crazy check out:
Cincinnati Bengals football player and one-time “Dancing with the Stars” contestant Chad Ochocinco caused quite the Twitter stir Saturday when he tweeted about reading a Glenn Beck book:
Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco
The wide receiver’s fans quickly took to the social networking site, many to express outrage over his reading choice.
Twitter user DrDeeps was among the first, writing: “Just lost a lot of respect for you for being a f**king beck fan. Idiot.” Ochocinco responded: “Damn Glenn Beck pissed you off kind sir.”
To user Steve_Morman’s question, “you are a conservative,” Ochocinco replied: “No i’m not a conservative, just wanted 2 see what all the fuss is about so i’m reading it.”
Ochocinco’s next tweet was directed to Beck himself:
Ochocinco, who has more than 2.3 million Twitter followers, responded to one who wrote she was unfollowing him:
A sample of the rest of Ochocinco’s tweets is below:
Chad lost 20,000 left-wing uninformed fans on Twitter for reading a book “Broke” to educate himself… So the question of the day: Who are the Sheep?? Good job Chad for educating yourself. The scary part is that these sheep vote and vote as the mainstream media tells them to!
thecommunists, I remained silent; I was not a communist.
Then they locked up the social democrats, I remained silent; I was not a social democrat.
Then they came for the trade unionists, I did not protest; I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Catholics, I did not protest; I was a Protestant.
Then they came for the Jews, I did not speak out; I was not a Jew.
When they came for me, there was no one left to speak out for me.
