Black Democrat Louisiana State Senator Elbert Guillory of Opelousas, who made history as Louisiana's first black Republican legislator since Reconstruction when he switched political parties posted an Internet video railing against the Democrat Party that has gone viral (nationally) and has been featured on several talk shows in its entirety.
Video: Elbert Guillory: "Why I Am a Republican"
Guillory has been mentioned as a possible candidate for lieutenant governor.
When asked about it, he told reporters, “This is politics. People say a lot of things. We’ll see how things shape up over the next couple of years.”
Guillory called the Democrat party “the party of disappointment” and said its policies had “left Louisiana behind.”
In the video, filmed in the rear of the Senate chamber, he used harsher words, calling it “the party of Jim Crow” while the Republican Party was described as “the party of freedom and progress.”
He said returning to the GOP was “not only right for me, but for all of my brothers and sisters in the black community.”
Sadly as our history has been rewritten, many black Americans, in fact Americans in general, do not remember that Abraham Lincoln was the first Republican Party president and that most blacks voted Republican, including Martin Luther King, Jr., until the mid-1960’s.
A re-writing of history, that certainly contributes to having a first lady just coming off her latest $100-million combination vacation (including a pre-trip for herself and 1st daughters) and state trip with her husband, make statements at a conference like: living in the White House is sometimes like living in a “really nice prison”… and that the first time she was ever proud of America is when her husband was elected president… plus the underlying feelings that go with statements like that.
Democrats were able to secure a huge majority of the black vote comprised of those afraid to cast an alternate ballot through violence, property damage, rape, and murder, and Disgustingly, they have somehow been able to maintain that death-grip on the African-American community to this day.
When these reprehensible strategies, though unquestionably effective, did not satiate their need to keep the black population down, Democrat-supported legislation such as Jim Crow laws that made sure these minorities would remain second-class citizens even after the ratification of the 13th Amendment. There are plenty of examples of heralded Democrats, including Presidents LBJ and Truman, expressing disdain for blacks in their own words. Most also do they realize that the Founder of Planned Parenthood, Margaret Sanger, was a racist who believed in eugenics and supported The Negro Project.
Republicans, thankfully, emerged as the pro-freedom, anti-slavery alternative to the juggernaut that was the Democrat party. Despite the fact that significantly more Republicans supported the 1964 Civil Rights Act than did Democrats (and the fact that Republican President Dwight D. Eisenhower was the first to initiate the legislation which finally passed and was enacted under Democrat Presidents JFK and LBJ), the party of the left has somehow hoodwinked much of the black community into thinking they are its savior. In fact until the passing of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, Martin Luther King was a Republican, re-registering as a Democrat as part of the negotiations, and so were most blacks Republicans (the party of Abraham Lincoln) until that time. Facts like these are part of the reason the Progressives consistently fight to re-write and edit the history that is taught and skew media productions. Read more about the history of racism in the Democrat party…
MLK’s niece, Alveda King, stood with Glenn Beck and conservative political and religious leaders from around the country, including Sarah Palin, at Beck’s ‘Restore Honor’ Event in DC… Against hate and racism.
Dr. Alveda King says her uncle’s dream was not about the redistribution of wealth and that he knew that we all needed to be Americans… not separate races. He fought for the rights of all men. He fought for the life, the liberty and the pursuit of happiness for all…
Guillory says Democrats use welfare and food stamps “as a mechanism for politicians to control the black community. The idea that blacks, or anybody for that matter, need the government to get ahead is despicable.” It is a theme supported by former Democrat welfare mom and now Republican author and Founder of CURE, who ran for Congress in 2012, Star Parker in her book Uncle Sam's Plantation.
Guillory makes several references to slavery.
“Our self-initiative and our self-reliance have been sacrificed in exchange for allegiance to our overseers who control us by making us dependent on them.”
He urges “my brothers and sisters of the American community, please join with me today in abandoning the government plantation and the party of disappointment. So that we may all echo the words of one Republican leader, MLK, who famously said, ‘Free at last, free at last, thank God Almighty, we are free at last.’”
The End of Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream” speech:
And when this happens, when we allow freedom to ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God’s children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual,
"Free at last, free at last.
Thank God Almighty, we are free at last."
There is a new wave of black conservative awakening at hand. Former Congressman Artur Davis left the Democrat party for the GOP and was a featured speaker at the Romney Republican Convention in 2012 and the pool of conservative black leaders is growing including GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain, Congressman Allen West, Dr. Ben Carson, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Mayor Mia Love, Senator Tim Scott, political activist, songwriter and vocalist of the "American Tea Party Anthem" Lloyd Marcus, author of Blacklash and political activist Deneen Borelli, talk show host and co-founder of TeaParty365 David Webb, and the list goes on. Just watch below; people who see themselves as proud Americans, conservatives… not black-conservatives.
Sean Hannity and Glenn Beck have both hosted specials giving black conservative leaders a forum.
