The power elite, which includes the Progressive left that runs the Democrat party as well as the mainstream media, academia and most of the entertainment industry and much of the core of the GOP Establishment which runs the Republican party as well as Big Business think you, average hard working Americans who believe in the Constitution, fiscal responsibility and the values that America was built on, are stupid. After all, they have done everything within their power to distract us, dumb us down, manipulate us, control us and watch us.
This Sunday it was Treasury Secretary Jack Lew’s turn to defend the President’s phony scandals campaign. It was reported that Lew got ‘'specific?’, from the administration's perspective, about President Obama’s contention that “phony scandals” are distracting lawmakers from tackling the important issues facing the country.
Chris Wallace did a great job doggedly questioning his guest who looked visibly uncomfortable during his appearance on ‘Fox News Sunday‘ this weekend about President Obama’s recent claim that the scandals that have plagued his administration are somehow “fake and phony.”
While speaking in Illinois last week, the President condemned Washington for “taking its eye off the ball” due to “an endless parade of distractions, political posturing and phony scandals,” using a term also put forward by senior advisor Dan Pfeiffer.
When asked by Wallace if President Obama actually thought the Internal Revenue Service targeting of conservatives was actually a phony scandal, Lew dodged the question.
“The President has made clear, I have made clear, that the mistakes that were made in judgment, very bad judgment, managing the 501-c4 program were unacceptable and they had to be fixed,” Lew said.
“So that was not a phony scandal?” Wallace asked.
Lew again avoided the question and explained to Wallace how the problem was being addressed.
“He appointed an acting IRS commissioner who’s taken decisive action, clearing out all of the people who had supervisory responsibility for any of the decisions leading up to that,” Lew said, adding “He’s put in place methods to make sure it doesn’t happen again.”
Though Lew was certain at points that ‘'we’ve gotten to the bottom of this scandal’, he’s actually not so sure whether any political appointees were involved.
The Treasury Secretary then claimed it was merely the continued investigation that created a scandal.
“I think we have to look at the facts,” he said. “There’s been a lot of investigations. There’s been a lot of hearings, IGs, the Justice Department — there’s no evidence of any political decision maker who was involved any of those decisions. And I think the attempt to keep finding that evidence is creating the kind of sense of a phony scandal that is referred to there.”
Wallace then brought up the fact that President Obama had specifically asked Lew to investigate the targeting allegations further back in May. The host asked for an explanation of the targeting based on Lew’s investigation. The Treasury Secretary claimed that the IRS targeting of political groups was “equal opportunity” to both conservatives and liberals.
“At equal numbers, or not grossly disproportionate conservative groups over progressive groups?” Wallace followed up.
“There are a equal number of groups,” Lew maintained. “The bad judgment was equal opportunity.”
“But not the number of groups,” Wallace pressed again. “It was over a hundred (conservative groups) compared to maybe a dozen (liberal groups).”
“You have to look at how many cases of each there were,” Lew posited.
Wallace then pressed Lew on how much had been asked of William Wilkins, the IRS chief counsel. Lew continued to assert that there were no political motivations in the IRS targeting.
Finally, Lew repeated the claim that both conservative and liberal groups were targeted. ”There was equal opportunity bad judgment,” he said. ”It was conservative groups, it was progressive groups.” The inspector general has debunked this assertion several times, most notably in a letter to Ways and Means Committee ranking member Sander Levin. Of the 298 applications scrutinized for political involvement between May 2010 and May 2012, 96 included “Tea Party,” “9/12,” or “Patriots” in their names. Others contained terms like “liberty,” “freedom,” and “make America a better place to live.” Six included the terms “Progress” or “Progressive” in their names. Zero included the term “Occupy.” And while 30 percent of progressive cases were deemed “political,” every tea-party case received the designation, and the subsequent scrutiny.
That is what the treasury secretary considers equal opportunity, it appears.
“There has not been an investigation,” Wallace finally told Lew. “The Justice Department investigation is not complete, and the Inspector General never conducted an investigation. He conducted an audit. So where is the investigation?”
“An awful lot of time has gone into asking a lot of questions of a lot of people,” the Treasury Secretary said. “And I’m not saying it’s done.”
Lew, whose prerecorded or live interviews were shown on many of the morning shows this week, was also briefly asked about the “phony scandals” on ‘Meet the Press‘ with David Gregory. The Treasury Secretary again acknowledged the wrongdoing, but said it was blown out of proportion.
“There’s no evidence of any political involvement in the decisions leading up to that situation,” he claimed. “So the attempts to continue to raise this question in the absence of any evidence is what he (Obama) was referring to.”
Lew went on to add that it was necessary to differentiate between “reality” and “the part that is phony.”
“There was a real problem,” Lew said. “The problem was bad judgment that was, you know, career officials trying to operate their programs more efficiently using bad judgment to do to it. But the political piece, that’s a stretch.”
And amazingly, with all the obvious Lew smoke and mirrors, the ‘Fox News Sunday‘ panel agreed that having the Obama Administration use an Alinsky guideline from Rules for Radicals (Kindle) to declare that the long list of scandals were all fake and phony was exactly what they needed to do, for after all the average American would take their word and never question it again. And since the mainstream media is in the bag for the president, they will be more than happy to go along and sell that position as well. What happened to the days when a Bombshell Alert Like IRS Chief Counsel Visited the WH for 7-hours just Two Days Before Changing the Criteria for Targeting the Tea Party would have sent reporters scrambling for answers?
Perhaps someone might want to explain to Becky Gerritson from the Wetumpka Tea Party and Patricia Smith, whose son was killed in the Benghazi attack, how these scandals are phony and why the White House has completely ignored their pleas for answers for being victimized in these scandals.
Then there is the NSA and surveillance issue. Americans were sold on the fact that the Patriot Act was necessary to keep them safe after 911 and keeping us safe has become the basis for Americans to voluntarily give up their rights, to abandon the 4th Amendment, in the name of safety ever since. As Founding Father Benjamin Franklin warned: “(paraphrased here) “He who chooses security over freedom… safety over liberty, rarely gets (nor deserves) either!” With 911 and the passing of the Patriot Act the NSA turned their “Big Ears” inward, listening to and watching all of us. And this past week the house voted 217 to 205 to allow the Feds, the NSA, to continue spying on every/on all calls of every American, without restriction.
How about the 80,000+ home invasions last year? Is anyone covering those in the media? We are living in an ever growing police state and most people haven’t a clue. Haven’t heard about them? Hillaryville should be imploding and Hillary Doesn’t Deserve Our Admiration or Another Shot at the Presidency, but the left is sure that Hillary Clinton will be the 2016 Democrat Presidential candidate, regardless of the truth about her disgraceful handling of and decisions on Benghazi; her involvement in gun-walking; her questionable involvement with the Muslim Brotherhood… hence her relationship with Huma Abedin Weiner… yes the same Mrs. Weiner; and her role in promoting several major anti-Constitution pro-UN treaties and programs including the UN Small Arms Treaty and the Rights of the Child Treaty which essentially aim to transfer rights and powers of the Constitution, Americans and American parents to the United Nations. But, the left is committed to rebuilding Hillary from a sinner to a saint including a campaign of whitewashing the Clinton past, cherry picked specials on both the Clintons and an upcoming NBC miniseries where Hillary will be played by liberal Diane Lane, the daughter-in-law of uber-liberal Barbra Streisand; what could go wrong? They are sure America will buy whatever they sell, from harmful drugs, to GMO foods, to cover-ups on an ever-growing list of scandals, to lies about and purposeful negative intervention of anyone who stands up to them and of course to another 8-years of the Clintons.
Looking Back: Romney was Right on Libya and a lot of other things… But the American People Were Had; the 2012 Election was riddled with fraud and definitely with dirty tricks; probably stolen… and we are living the results. So where is the outrage?? The media and Hollywood have in fact become such a machine for the left that every time there is a glimmer of a rising star who speaks the truth and stands for America and the average American they rally to destroy them. And every time there is something to be promoted by the Democrat party or the White House, they are there in full force.
The rest of the world is laughing at us and simultaneously holding their breath as they begin to voice their opinions in ever louder choruses in an attempt to wake us up. The information and the truth is available for anyone to research for themselves. However, our history books have been re-written and we no longer teach critical thinking nor reward independent thinking in our schools. We and our kids are being bombarded by propaganda via mass media daily. Plus the pressure for conformity, political correctness and now (the so-called phony) targeted audits and delays by the IRS and surveillance by the NSA keeps many from speaking up… or even causes them to question themselves. Our lives are filled with distractions and we are bombarded with mis and disinformation and much of the truth never makes it to evening news or our classrooms… not even a slanted version. (Propaganda/Kindle by Edward Bernays is a must read for everyone).
So the question is are we the sheeple or mindless puppets that those in power believe we are and have done everything in their power to create? Or do we have enough in us to stand-up and prove them wrong?
