Overall all the candidates did well and the toned down rhetoric was good for people to get their questions asked. No major surprises and probably no major gains for any of the candidates, although Rick Perry probably had his best night.

Here is video of Newt Gingrich getting booed by the crowed in South Carolina who attended Mike Huckabee’s Candidate Forum when he tried attacking Mitt Romney by name. One of the rules of the forum was that candidates were not to mention any other candidate by name.
Gingrich was responding to a question from a voter who asked how he could justify his attacks “vilifying” the work of Mitt Romney in a private equity firm like Bain Capital.

Ron Paul chose not to attend the forum in South Carolina. He was campaigning in Nevada, but will participate in the FOX/WSJ debate on Monday, January 16th at 9p.m.ET.
Earlier this week, Mike Huckabee along with a long list of GOP leaders asked the candidates to stop the onslaught of attacks against each other and against the party’s principles.
The South Carolina primary is one week away, 01.21.12.
