The Jakarta government will remove a controversial statue of President Obama from a public park in central Jakarta and erect it at his former elementary school, Gov. Fauzi Bowo says, according to the Jakarta Globe.
The lifesize statue of Obama as a child was unveiled in Menteng Park in December.
That prompted an opposition group to spring up, setting up a page on Facebook that has attracted almost 3,000 members.
The group also filed a lawsuit against the city to have the statue taken down.
Its members argued that the space would be better used for an Indonesian hero, rather than the U.S. president, who spent four years in Jakarta as a child, the paper says.
Fauzi said the city administration will move the statue as soon as possible.
Obama is expected to visit his old school during a trip to Indonesia next month, the Globe says.
"It will be ready at the school if the guest really comes here and it will give him a special memory," Fauzi said.

"Americans for Freedom of Information" has released copies of President Obama's college transcripts from Occidental College ..
The transcript indicates that Obama, under the name Barry Soetoro, received financial aid as a foreign student from Indonesia while an undergraduate at the school.. The transcript was released by Occidental College in compliance with a court order in a suit brought by the group in the Superior Court of California. The transcript shows that Obama (Soetoro) applied for financial aid and was awarded a fellowship for foreign students from the Fulbright Foundation Scholarship program. To qualify for this scholarship, a student must claim foreign citizenship.
This document provides the smoking gun that many of Obama's detractors have been seeking - that he is NOT a natural-born citizen of the United States - necessary to be President of these United States . Along with the evidence that he was first born in Kenya , here we see that there is no record of him ever applying for US citizenship..
Gary Kreep of the United States Justice Foundation has released the results of their investigation of Obama's campaign spending. This study estimates that Obama has spent upwards of $950,000 in campaign funds in the past year with eleven law firms in 12 states for legal resources to block disclosure of any of his personal records.
Mr. Kreep indicated that the investigation is still on-going but that the final report will be provided to the U.S. attorney general, Eric Holder.
Mr. Holder has refused comment on this matter.

The part that begins "in a move certain" was originally an April Fool' story. None of it is true. The case has not reached the Supreme Court. Occidental did not release any transcripts. Pakistan was not on any "no travel list" in 1981 so anyone with a US passport could visit.
ReplyDeleteThe school application that you showed is unsigned, and it is a lie. Both the US State Department and the Indonesian government have said that Obama was never a citizen of Indonesia.
