Nor was it at all acceptable for Michelle Obama to edge out the Queen's husband so that SHE could be next to Queen Elizabeth for a photo! Michelle should have been standing next to her husband and allowed the Queen to stand next to hers. The Queen looked a bit befuddled by all the jockeying going on, but she is eminently polite and supremely gracious--even in dealing with gauche acts on the part of insensitive people.
Would someone help these people, if not for their sakes, for ours...
- They give the British Prime Minister DVD's that can't be played in their country.
- They insult the Brits by giving back a bust of Winston Churchill Obama gives a speech that makes him and the U.S. look weak to the Arab World... in the opinion of experts
- President Obama bows to the King of Saudi Arabia - Only underlings bow...
- First Lady Michelle Obama touches the Queen. Get with it people, hire yourself an expert in protocol, manners and etiquette
And if you are asking yourself... does this matter in the bigger scope of things? Of course it does! It matters if we look weak in the eyes of the Islamic world. It matters if our leaders are the only clueless people in the room and it matters because it re-enforces to our children that manners and tradition don't matter and that insensitivity, doing your own thing and the resulting rudeness are okay!
