Conservative Doc Ben Carson Reveals Why He Spoke Out Against Obama’s Policies at Prayer Breakfast…

Dr. Benjamin Carson Reveals Why He Spoke Out Against Obamas Policies at National Prayer Breakfast

With President Barack Obama sitting just feet away, Dr. Benjamin Carson stood up for conservative principles in his speech at Thursday’s National Prayer Breakfast, discussing the national debt, political correctness and even healthcare. Readers loved his speech so much that TheBlaze’s story on it went viral.

On Friday, Carson appeared on Fox News’ “Hannity” to explain why he felt compelled to speak out against the big government policies endorsed by Obama, in front of Obama.

Carson, a renown neurosurgeon, said the response to his speech has been “overwhelmingly” positive. However, he argued he didn’t make a conservative argument, but rather a “logical” and “common-sense” one.

“I don’t know where we left our brains,” he told host Sean Hannity.

Carson went on to talk about his life story, saying he grew up in a single parent home in a poverty-stricken area. He said his mother “refused to be a victim” and “never felt sorry for herself,” despite only having a third grade education.

Regarding his comments on political correctness, the neurosurgeon emphasized the importance of “freedom of speech and freedom of expression” in the United States.

“And yet, we have imposed upon people restrictions on what they say, on what they can think. The media, I think is the largest proponent of this,” he explained.

He lambasted the media’s outrage at Brent Musburger’s flattering comments about Alabama beauty queen Katherine Webb during the BCS National Championship.

In the second portion of his interview with Hannity, Carson argued he didn’t craft his message based on who was going to be in attendance. In other words, wasn’t trying to stick it to Obama in his speech.

“It really didn’t matter who I was sitting in front of, because I always pray before I give a speech and I ask God to give me the right things to say. And I think that it’s very rare these days for people to speak the truth,” he said. “Meanwhile, the fabric of our nation is being destroyed.

One of the “real dangers” facing America, according to Carson, is the fact that people don’t know “anything” about things like history or technology. “They don’t think for themselves,” he added.

Seizing upon what many of Carson’s supporters are probably wondering, Hannity asked him if he would ever consider running for president. The doctor did not it rule out, but said God would have to “grab him by the collar and make him do it.”

Video: Prayer Breakfast: "We've Reached A Point Where People Are Actually Afraid To Say What They

If nothing else, the look on Obama's face as he SUFFERS through the brilliance of Dr. Ben Carson is priceless! Dr. Carson takes shot after shot at Obama while Obama is forced to sit and listen. Dr. Ben Carson is the REAL deal, he (unlike Obama) was raised by a single mother in the ghetto's of Detroit. Obama, on the other hand, lived a pretty comfortable lifestyle. Dr. Ben Carson doesn't use his color of skin to his advantage (which is not the Obama way) and he doesn't think we should "punish" those who have earned their successes by taking from them and giving to others who have not. After watching this video in it's entirety, I am quite sure President and Mrs. Obama would have preferred to be sitting in a dental chair having a ROOT CANAL!

Rush Limbaugh Show:

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: As for Obama, he went to the National Prayer Breakfast today. I was reading a blog, the White House Dossier, a guy who used to be part of the White House press corps. Keith Koffler is his name. I didn't see Obama at the prayer breakfast today, but he said Obama was barely awake. You know, Obama doesn't show until ten o'clock in the morning. He's a nighthawk. He's a night owl. Obama stays up late and he doesn't get up early. So this guy's describing Obama at the prayer breakfast as having heavy eyelids and chewing Nicorette to deal with his nicotine addiction. He was openly chewing gum and wiping his eyes as though trying to remove the morning crustiness.

You ever have that happen to you, the morning crustiness in your eye and have to wipe that out?

That's what he described Obama as doing. Koffler said Obama's remarks at the National Prayer Breakfast were perfunctory and listless, as though he really didn't want to be there but has to do this kind of thing. So we have some sound bites from this. Let's go to 'em right now. This is Obama in Washington at the National Prayer Breakfast. Now, it didn't start 'til something like ten or 10:30 but apparently he had to get up early. He had to be somewhere at 7:30, I guess, for the actual breakfast itself. In the White House Dossier piece, Keith Koffler makes the point that -- well, I inferred from his piece that -- Obama's not out of bed by then.

So he was not entirely cogent. He just wasn't there. Let's give a listen. We have two sound bites of Obama.

OBAMA: It is always just a wonderful event.

RUSH: (snoring)

OBAMA: But I do worry sometimes that as soon as we leave the prayer breakfast, everything we've been talkin' about --

RUSH: (snoring)

OBAMA: -- the whole time of the prayer breakfast --

RUSH: (snoring)

OBAMA: -- seems to be forgotten on the same day of the prayer breakfast.

AUDIENCE: (smattering of laughter)

OBAMA: I mean --

RUSH: (snoring)

OBAMA: -- you'd like to think that that the shelf life wasn't so short! I go back to the Oval Office (snickers), and I start watching the cable news networks, and it's like we didn't pray.

RUSH: This is unreal.

I love this. So prayer doesn't work, and this proves it.

Obama goes to the prayer breakfast, and everybody else goes to the prayer breakfast. It's a wonderful event. And it's all about him, you see. The National Prayer Breakfast... (interruption) Oh, don't believe that when he says he doesn't watch cable news. He watches it, and he has people assigned to watch it, just like I do. (Obama interpretation) "It's a wonderful event, the National Prayer Breakfast. It's always about me every year, and I enjoy coming for that reason, but I do worry sometimes that as soon as we leave the prayer breakfast, everything we've been talking about the whole prayer breakfast seems to be forgotten, on the same day of the prayer breakfast.

"I mean, you'd like to think that the shelf life of the prayer wasn't short. I go back to the Oval Office, and I start watching cable news, and it's like we didn't pray at all." So God's not listening. (interruption) Well, I think everybody else is praying to Obama, but gods don't pray. They sit there and listen to the prayers. But, anyway, can you imagine any other president ripping prayer, even in a joke way? (Obama impression) "Well, we all come up here and -- and we pray, and (chuckling) it doesn't even work! It doesn't even last the whole day. I go back to White House, turn on TV, and I'm being criticized. The National Prayer Breakfast is all about Obama. Here's the second sound bite...

OBAMA: That's what I thought of as I took the oath of office a few weeks ago and touched those Bibles: The comfort that Scripture gave Lincoln and King. Most of all I thought about their humility. Let us retain that humility not just during this hour, but for every hour, and let me suggest that those of us with the most power and influence need to be the most humble.

RUSH: Right. Like right before you decide to pick somebody off the Kill List and launch the drone. Right! Now, the next speaker is the Johns Hopkins Hospital Pediatric Neurosurgery director, Dr. Benjamin Carson, and this guy rips Obamaism. He ripped into Obamaism at the prayer breakfast with Obama sitting there.

CARSON: Well, some people say, they say, "Well, that's not fair because it doesn't hurt the guy who made $10 billion as much as the guy who made ten." Where does it say you have to hurt the guy? He just put a billion dollars in the pot!

AUDIENCE: (applause)

CARSON: You know, we don't need to hurt him. It's that kind of thinking...

AUDIENCE: (applause)

CARSON: It's that kind of thinking that has resulted in 602 banks in the Cayman Islands. That money needs to be back here, building our infrastructure and creating jobs.

RUSH: Whoa! Right on. Did you hear that? This guy is talking to Obama. Obama's sitting there, and Dr. Carson is saying, "People say... 'Well, that's not fair because it doesn't hurt the guy who made $10 billion as much as the guy who made ten.' Where does it say you have to hurt the guy? He just put a billion dollars in the pot!" So this neurosurgeon is speaking out in favor of the 1%, the 5%, the 10% who are actually paying the freight in this country via income taxes. They're the ones actually paying the freight. What do we gotta hurt 'em for? I mean, they're already putting money in the pot. Why do we gotta hurt 'em?

He's exactly right. And then he says: You want to know why we got 602 banks in the Caymans with American money? Because they're running away. They don't want to be hurt.

I love this guy. He wasn't finished, either.

CARSON: Here's my solution: When a person is born, give him a birth certificate, an electronic medical record, and a health savings account to which money can be contributed -- pretax -- from the time you're born 'til the time you die. When you die, you can pass it on to your family members, so that when you're 85 years old and you got six diseases, you're not trying to spend up everything. You're happy to pass it on and there's nobody talking about death panels.

AUDIENCE: (laughter and applause)

CARSON: Number one. And also, for the people who were indigent who don't have any money we can make contributions to their HSA each month because we already have this huge pot of money. Instead of sending it to some bureaucracy, let's put it in their HSAs. Now they have some control over their own health care.

RUSH: That is Dr. Benjamin Carson, who is the Johns Hopkins Hospital Pediatric Neurosurgery director, and he has given his recipe there for a health care system the exact opposite of Obamacare. This is at the National Prayer Breakfast today. So you see, these people are out there, and they're willing to speak up. They need to be encouraged.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Okay, my friends, I want to spend some time here, just a few minutes, on Dr. Benjamin Carson. You don't hear people speak this way. The Republicans don't speak this way to Obama. They don't speak this way about Obama's policies. Here you have the guy who's head of neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital at the National Prayer Breakfast. He says, "People say... 'Well, that's not fair because it doesn't hurt the guy who made $10 billion as much as the guy who made ten.' Where does it say you have to hurt the guy? He just put a billion dollars in the pot!" The guy's paying the freight. What's he done?

His solution to health care: "When a person is born, give him a birth certificate, an electronic medical record, and a health savings account to which money can be contributed -- pretax -- from the time you're born 'til the time you die." We're already spending this money and more anyway. He's simply talking about reallocating resources. Put it in the hands of the people who are going to spend it. Put them in charge of their own health care. They build it up while they're young, while they're children. A nest egg gets built in their health savings accounts. It's pretax. It's put in this account from the time you're born 'til the time you die.

It's the equivalent of what would be spent on you in other forms -- and when you die, whatever you haven't used, you can pass on to your family members. Do with it what you want. You can pass it on. You can make it part of your estate. But you are in charge of your health care. You are in charge of how much you spend on it and how much you get and where you go. This reintroduces competition. This reintroduces market forces. This is what brings costs down. So in 43 seconds, the director of neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins gave the answer to Obamacare.

In 43 seconds.

It's not 2700 pages, and it doesn't enlarge the government.

It doesn't hire 16,000 IRS agents, and it covers everybody -- and there would probably be money left over after all of this.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: I'm gonna take advantage of the occasion of these comments by Dr. Benjamin Carson to explain what a health savings account is to people who may not know. Because, you know, we have constant audience expansion and audience growth here. Since the election -- well, even prior to that, but -- there are people listening here for the first time ever or they've been listening for a year or two. So, of course, they haven't heard everything that you have if you've been here for the whole 20, 25 years.

But this is really profound what this man said at the National Prayer Breakfast. Now, let's put Obamacare in Column A and just briefly review. It has 2700 pages. The federal government is empowered to eventually make every health care decision for every American. The older Americans get, the less likely the government will authorize spending money to treat them, particularly if they have terminal diseases.

That's because the government will determine that it's not worth the money. If somebody is near the life expectancy, and they have a debilitating disease, the government will decide it's not worth it. This is in Obamacare. The term "death panel" isn't, but that's how it works out. This is all in Obamacare. It's "as the secretary of Health and Human Services shall determine." There is a board. There is a panel of people.

We don't know who it's gonna be, but there is a panel of people who will make decisions on the allocation of health care money which is all gonna come from government. That's eventually, when this is fully implemented. If your parent or grandparent comes down with a very bad disease late in life, the government may decide it makes no sense to spend the money in treating that disease because the expected number of years left in that person's life is very few.

They might think we can spend that money elsewhere on other people or on young people who might be more productive. Now, in a free society, this shouldn't happen. You need to be in charge, just like when you go rent a hotel room. You buy hotel room where you want, where you can afford, where you want to stay. Same thing with food, same thing with a car, same thing with anything else you buy. You buy it based on what you can afford, based on what you want.

Of course the American dream is that you continue to work hard and try to improve your standard of living so that you can afford better and more things for you and your family as you go on through life. That's what's fundamentally changed, and is in the process of fundamentally changing in our country. Imagine if you had to go to the government for a hotel room. Imagine if you had to go to the government for your food or for your telephone service or anything else, be it a need or a desire.

The fact that governments, state and federal, are involved in so much of the health care system is he reason why the price has skyrocketed. There isn't any competition per se. You're not in charge, and the consumer needs to be in charge of what is spent by that consumer for that consumer. That causes and creates competition for that consumer's dollar, and that's how prices are kept affordable. That doesn't exist in health care today.

So the Obamacare plan is 2700 pages with a panel that will determine who gets treated and who doesn't. There are 16,000 new IRS agents to determine whether or not you're complying with the law by either having an insurance policy or paying a fine or a penalty if you don't. Virtually every aspect of your health care, the portion of your life dealing with health care is going to be administered by and monitored by government, with you having nothing to do with it -- and that just scratches the surface.

Remember the woman who appeared...? Well, you may not remember. ABC, about three years ago, did a primetime special with the president the East Room of the White House where the president sought to explain his health care plan. There were American citizens in the audience. A woman stood up (an American citizen, folks) and actually asked the president of the United States -- not her doctor, not a family member, but the president of the United States (summarized) -- "Sir, what about my 100-year-old mother?

"She has a huge will to live, she's got a great spirit, but she needs a pacemaker. Will you factor things like spirit and the will to live in determining whether people like my mother will get a pacemaker?" Why is a citizen asking the president of the United States if her mother can have a medical procedure? Sometimes I think I'm the only one who thought that obscene. Well, the president stood up and answered it. He put a smile on his face and said, "No, we can't take things into account like will to live and spirit.

"We just can't do that. There are just gonna be times," the president said to this woman, "where the best thing we can do is just give your mother a pill and let her try to enjoy her remaining days." The show ended and people discussed it as though nothing offensive had happened. This doesn't it happen in a free country. This doesn't happen in the United States of five years ago! This doesn't happen.

The president of the United States doesn't conduct a health care seminar in the White House with citizens asking if he will permit their family members to live, if he will permit their family members to be treated medically! This was before Obamacare was signed into law. Well, now it's been signed into law and it's in the process of implementing. Now we've been told the IRS that the cheapest -- the cheapest -- mandatory health care plan for a family of four starting in 2016 or 2018, whenever this is fully implemented, will be between $16,000 and $20,000 a year.

The cheapest mandatory plan! If you don't have one, you have to pay a penalty. Whether you have health insurance or not, it's gonna cost you. So that's, briefly, what we have at present. This is what has been passed by Congress and signed into law, and this is what's being implemented. This and many other horror stories. So then we have Dr. Benjamin Carson who, again, spoke today at the National Prayer Breakfast. He is the Johns Hopkins Hospital Pediatric Neurosurgery director. He's got an entirely different idea. Play sound bite nine again. Let's hear it in his words.

This is his alternative to Obamacare.

And also, for the people who were indigent who don't have any money, we can make contributions to their HSA each month because we already have this huge pot of money. Instead of sending it to some bureaucracy, let's put it in their HSAs. Now they have some control over their own health care.

RUSH: Now, here's the point. What is a health savings account? Many of you in the audience already know, and I'm gonna ask you to indulge me as I try to explain them to people in the audience who don't know. Pretty much what Dr. Carson said. When you're born, a bank account -- look at it that way. When you're born, a bank account is started in your name. You get a birth certificate, and you get a medical card and a health savings account. Money is contributed pretax, from the time you're born until you die. They say, "Where do we get the money?"

We simply shift from all of the money that's being spent on health care now by governments, and we shift it to the people, to you. We put it in a bank account for you. Everybody gets one. Health care spending is 53% of GDP, or it's heading in that direction. We're spending $3.5 trillion dollars every year in this country, $1.3 trillion of which we don't even have. So we take 40, 50% of that and we allocate it to the people. It's theirs in the first place. They earned it. Your parents earned it if you don't have enough to start the health savings account. You obviously don't when you're an infant. But it grows.

You then need to go to the doctor, you then need medical treatment, you've got a health savings, you have a savings accounts, you've got a bank account with money in it that otherwise would go to insurance companies or go to the government or wherever else. But it's yours. You spend it as you need it, when medical events come up. Now, we're talking in this case, it's about standard, ordinary operating procedure doctor visits.

We're not talking about catastrophic injuries. Those are handled by insurance and would continue to be. But every day commonplace doctor visits, hospital treatments, and so forth, are handled by your health savings accounts. And whatever you don't spend, you get to keep and use however you wish, thereby motivating you to do two things: Not spend it all on medicine, because people are spending a lot more on their health than they actually need to be. And the second thing is you'll help create competition among medical providers, among doctors, among hospitals, among MRI testing centers, to get your business. They'll have to have a price that's attractive to you, just like anybody else trying to sell you anything.

There might even be sales someday on health care, if this system were ever implemented. But the point is you're in charge of it. And until we reach the point where the consumer has a direct relationship with his health care in terms of cost and expense, we're never gonna get costs down. In 43 seconds, Dr. Carson here gave the opposite to Obamacare and a way that would work, by putting every person in charge of his or her health care.

Now, some people might not want that responsibility, and that's what people like Obama and the Democrats bank on. But a health savings account is just money that's already being spent on health care and health insurance being reallocated, transferred, if you will, back to you. It was yours in the first place anyway. You earned it. That's the only way the government ever got it. You or your parents earned it. They don't have a dime without taking it from somebody first or borrowing it or printing it. This plan just, you keep your money. It's in an account where you use it for medical care. What you don't use is yours to do with as you wish, include pass on to your kids when you die.

RUSH: We got Jody from Madison, Wisconsin. Jody, great to have you here. Welcome to the EIB Network. Hi.

CALLER: Hi, Rush. Oh, what a pleasure to talk to you. I've been listening to you since the eighties, and I never called you before, but I'm telling you, when you had that sound bite on with Dr. Carson, I almost dropped my jaw. And I did run in and I called Dr. Carson and told him he's my hero. It's amazing. I've been saying the same thing for years, ever since this health care junk coming out and explaining to people how HSAs would have solved all of the problems. Not only that, just think of how wages would increase, and employment, 'cause it's no longer on the backs of the employer. I just can't tell you how astounded I was today to hear some sanity out of a human being.

RUSH: Look, I realize this is extremely encouraging. It's uplifting to know that, A, there's somebody out there who understands and knows this, but even more than that, that's willing to say it --

CALLER: Yes.

RUSH: -- to Obama's face. This man said it while Obama's sitting there. Now, this is easy for me to say, but I'm gonna tell you something. This is the kind of stuff the Republican Party needs to be saying. This is the kind of stuff the Republican Party should have been saying for the past four years. Now, I know they tried various times and places to talk about health savings accounts, but their plan was still the government at the center of everything. That's what I mean by the Democrats create an agenda item, the Republicans say, "Oh, okay, is that what we're talking about today? Okay, national health care? Well, we don't entirely believe in that, so we'll come up with an alternative," but it's still an agenda set by the Democrats.

What's remarkable about Dr. Carson. Here's my solution. A person's born. He gets a health savings account to which money can be contributed pretax. Think of it as a 401(k) for health care. You put as much money in it as you want and, by the way, we'll supplant that because there's money being spent on your behalf, theoretically, in health care by the government, just reallocate it. But in 43 seconds the man had a free market based solution to the problem that was understandable and inspiring. And it does make you say, it does make you ask, "Where's this been for the last four years? Where has been the leadership articulating this kind of thing?"

Not sure if you have heard Ben Carson's story, but it's
a wonderful story of overcoming the odds and becoming a famous pediatric neurosurgeon. I've heard him speak many times on YOUTUBE and you'd do well to go listen to as many as you can, and share his speeches as well.

He is brilliant and puts his money where his mouth is, as he and his wife sponsor a wonderful scholarship program that he speaks of in this video.

Carson was born in Detroit, Michigan and was raised by his single mother, Sonya Carson. He struggled academically throughout elementary school, but started to excel in middle school and throughout high school. After graduating with honors from Southwestern High School, he attended Yale University, where he earned a degree in Psychology. He chose to go to Yale because in College Bowl, an old knowledge competition TV program, he saw Yale compete against and defeat many other colleges, including Harvard. Carson wanted to participate in College Bowl, but the program was
discontinued. From Yale, he attended University of Michigan Medical School.

THE VETTING: Ben Smith Releases Selectively Edited’ Obama Race Video

Earlier today, Buzzfeed’s Ben Smith announced on Twitter that video researcher Andrew Kaczynski had released “the mysterious Harvard/Obama/race video that the Breitbart folks have been talking about.”

The video, which Kaczynski says was “licensed from a Boston television station,” shows a young Barack Obama leading a protest at Harvard Law School on behalf of Prof. Derrick Bell, a radical academic tied to Jeremiah Wright--about whom we will be releasing significant information in the coming hours.

However, the video has been selectively edited--either by the Boston television station or by Buzzfeed itself. Over the course of the day, Breitbart.com will be releasing additional footage that has been hidden by Obama's allies in the mainstream media and academia.

Breitbart.com Editor-in-Chief Joel Pollak and Editor-at-Large Ben Shapiro will appear on The Sean Hannity Show to discuss the tape. The full tape will be released tonight on Fox News' Hannity.

Obama’s Hidden Past… You Be the Judge! (Video)

Video: Obama’s Hidden Past

Information about Obama's hidden past is finally coming out due to the diligent research of www.citizens4freedom.com, Donald Trump's investigation into Obama (And it's NOT about the birth certificate issue.) and Attorney Orly Taitz persistence.

The video above, recorded from The Power Hour radio show by Joyce Riley, exposes the FACTS they have uncovered about Obama's past that may be surprising, even shocking, to some. Manipulation of political figures by the ruling elite is nothing new. In fact it's the documented history of how the British Empire (the mercantile elite class of Britain) was able to control the world (and still do).

Knowing information like this and keeping it suppressed while financing them to high political office is how the controlling elite of the world are able to completely control the puppet politicians in America and deceive all but the most astute studiers of history.

Senate Democrats Declare Water War

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 8, 2011  -  by NUNES STAFF

Last week, the House Natural Resources Committee held a hearing about the San Joaquin Valley Water Reliability Act. The bill, which is co-authored by valley Republicans Devin Nunes, Kevin McCarthy, and Jeff Denham, generated strong opposition from Democrat lawmakers but has the backing of a re-invigorated Republican Conference and its leadership.

Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy made a rare appearance at the subcommittee hearing in support of the bill and reminded his colleagues that Governor Brown had declared an end to California’s drought. He continued that California’s snow-pack had reached 165% this year but that farmers would not get 100% of their water. “That’s like a company having its best profits ever but telling its employees they will only get 80% of their paycheck,” said McCarthy. “That’s unacceptable.”

Nunes and his allies are seeking to achieve several major changes to the management of California’s water infrastructure. Their plan includes the restoration of a bipartisan agreement known as the Bay-Delta Accord. It also revamps the San Joaquin River restoration, replacing it with an economically responsible and environmentally feasible fishery— saving taxpayers a billion dollars.

Rep. John Garamendi (D-Walnut Grove), who had touted the Delta Accord as a model agreement in the 1990s, shifted position dramatically and equated it as a declaration of war with no hope of Senate passage. Shortly after the hearing, California’s Senior Senator Dianne Feinstein told the San Francisco Chronicle, "I strongly oppose this bill, which I believe is dramatic overkill."

During his opening statement, Garemendi decried the bill’s pre-emption of state law saying “this little piece of genius” would end collaboration between state and federal water projects. The bill “makes it virtually impossible,” he said. Westlands representative Tom Birmingham took aim at Garamendi’s interpretation of the bill and corrected him on historic and current operation of the projects. Federal law already pre-empts state law concerning project operations on the Trinity, he reminded the committee, and there was no similar outrage when that pre-emption occurred.

When asked about opposition from Senate Democrats, Nunes said he was disappointed but not surprised. “This is a declaration of war on the only meaningful plan before Congress to solve the San Joaquin Valley water crisis.” Nunes continued that if “California’s senators would change their tune if Congress imposed a 70% reduction on deliveries from Hetch Hetchy. Senator Feinstein would no doubt be happy to hand the City of San Francisco’s water over unconditionally since she thinks it will save the Delta.”

Feinstein transmitted her official opposition to the bill just days after attending a fundraiser at Harris Ranch, which is located in the San Joaquin Valley—only miles from water starved farmland. According to those in attendance, Feinstein committed to working on a solution. “I don’t see how anyone with valley interests in mind can trust them, which is why I have been talking to Senate Republicans,” said Nunes.

Nunes also sought to remind critics that there are many options on the table to gain passage of legislation and that he would be leveraging all of them to aid the San Joaquin Valley. This will undoubtedly keep the bill’s opponents on their toes. House Appropriators have already stripped funding for the San Joaquin River Settlement from the federal budget, a major blow to the plan which is already off schedule and underfunded.

Once lawmakers had completed their opening remarks, testimony was received from local water districts, as well as state and federal representatives. Obama and Brown Administration officials opposed the bill, maintaining their view that the Delta pumps were damaging the ecosystem, impacting a number of species including the smelt, salmon and killer whale. Administration officials also touted the importance of current policies, which they described as balanced, to protect the Delta ecosystem.

Advocates of H.R. 1837 were quick to note, however, that no new evidence was provided to support these conclusions. The disclosure of scientific evidence to support pumping restrictions was made necessary by a U.S. District Court ruling in May. The court determined that the government had failed to base its decisions on science and sent regulators back to the drawing table.

Kole Upton, a Madera farmer and former San Joaquin River Settlement negotiator, rejected Interior’s testimony that current policies were balanced and called for the replacement of the current river restoration plan as envisioned by H.R. 1837. Upton explained that farmers were being subject to a slow death due to water diversions and that broken promises related to the San Joaquin river deal convinced him to seek changes.

The Kern County Water Agency also offered testimony, indicating that H.R. 1837 would restore stability to the Delta and improve water supplies. The agency’s representative, James Beck, said that all water contractors, state and federal, would be protected under the proposed law— supporting Nunes’ contention that his goal is not to harm any water contractors. This testimony undermined one of the key arguments made by bill opponents, which suggest that a small minority would benefit under the bill.

When asked about the allegation that his bill would come at the expense of other water contractors and the environment, Nunes was dismissive. “They are attempting to deceive the public which is the only way they can survive. They think they can obstruct this legislation by dividing California’s embattled water districts and hiding their own financial interests. It won’t work.”

Nunes then described an alliance of convenience between environmental activists, a small number of Delta farmers and salmon fishermen, indicating that each will likely be represented at an additional hearing called by committee Democrats who are attempting to slow passage of the bill. “They have all benefited from the status quo. Delta farmers have been able to hide from reality on their islands, fishermen have filled their pockets with tax dollars, and radical environmentalists have assumed greater control over the state’s water,” said Nunes.

Delta farmers may fear the upending of current water management policies because those policies have to-date placed the financial and operational burdens for Delta restoration on others – primarily south of Delta water contractors. Under current law, little attention has been paid to this small but vocal group of farmers who enjoy unlimited access to the Delta’s fresh water supplies. During panel questioning, Rep. Jeff Denham underscored the uneven burden placed on water contractors by pointing out that San Francisco secures its water via pipeline from Hetch Hetchy, completely bypassing the Delta. This has allowed Bay Area activists to escape the consequences of their actions while forcing others to make sacrifices.

Similarly, elements of the west’s small sport and commercial salmon fishing industries have benefited from the status quo. The 1,722 permit holding fishermen collected hundreds of millions of federal tax dollars from 2007-2009. Nunes calls this money a payoff for their environmental activism, which was enacted under Democratic supermajorities. Several recipients made out with more than half a million dollars, with 213 fishermen walking away with six figure checks. And while some have claimed that the industry is 100% unemployed, regulators documented deliveries of sardine, mackerel, anchovy, squid and other species, effectively refuting the allegation that salmon fishermen are unable to work.

Nunes says that despite controversy generated by these groups, House leaders remain unfazed. A markup and full House consideration will likely follow this summer. Meanwhile, San Joaquin Valley residents have benefited from significant exposure beyond the greater Central Valley. The region’s water crisis has been highlighted nationally and is followed by the Fox News Channel’s Sean Hannity and others. In 2009, the Wall Street Journal opined that Central Valley farmers are California’s new endangered species. This prognosis may change if House Republicans succeed.

Palin's Secret Weapon: New Film to Premiere in June

Just when they thought they had destroyed her for good comes this…  An epic Sarah Palin documentary will premiere next month… In Iowa.

Real Clear Politics reported last night on a new Sarah Palin film that will be releases next month in Iowa.

By Scott Conroy

Shortly after Republicans swept last November to a historic victory in which Sarah Palin was credited with playing a central role, the former Alaska governor pulled aside her close aide, Rebecca Mansour, to discuss a hush-hush assignment: Reach out to conservative filmmaker Stephen K. Bannon with a request. Ask him if he would make a series of videos extolling Palin’s governorship and laying to rest lingering questions about her controversial decision to resign from office with a year-and-a-half left in her first term. It was this abdication, Palin knew, that had made her damaged goods in the eyes of some Republicans who once were eager to get behind her potential 2012 presidential campaign.

The response was more positive than Palin could have hoped for. He’d make a feature-length movie, Bannon told Mansour, and he insisted upon taking complete control and financing it himself — to the tune of $1 million.

The fruits of that initial conversation are now complete. The result is a two-hour-long, sweeping epic, a rough cut of which Bannon screened privately for Sarah and Todd Palin last Wednesday in Arizona, where Alaska’s most famous couple has been rumored to have purchased a new home. When it premieres in Iowa next month, the film is poised to serve as a galvanizing prelude to Palin’s prospective presidential campaign — an unconventional reintroduction to the nation that she and her political team have spent months eagerly anticipating, even as Beltway Republicans have largely concluded that she won’t run.

Bannon, a former naval officer and ex-Goldman Sachs banker, sees his documentary as the first step in Palin’s effort to rebuild her image in the eyes of voters who may have soured on her, yet might reconsider if old caricatures begin to fade. The film will also appeal to staunch Palin supporters who have long celebrated her biting rhetoric and conservative populism yet know little about her record in Alaska and have perhaps written her off as presidential material.

“This film is a call to action for a campaign like 1976: Reagan vs. the establishment,” Bannon told RealClearPolitics. “Let’s have a good old-fashioned brouhaha.”

RealClearPolitics was recently given an exclusive screening of a rough cut of the now finished film, which Bannon designed, in part, to help catapult Palin from the presidential afterthought she has become in the eyes of many pundits directly to the front lines of the 2012 GOP conversation.

Palin initially learned about Bannon's work after she saw one of his previous films about the origins of the tea party movement, "Generation Zero," which premiered last year in Nashville and was later aired in prime time on the Fox News Channel. Impressed, Palin promoted "Generation Zero" via Twitter before later reaching out to Bannon about creating something to highlight her record in Alaska, where her performance in office was overshadowed by her resignation eight months after the 2008 presidential election.

Though she did not have any editorial role in the project, Palin facilitated access for Bannon and his film crew to key Alaskan defenders who were involved with the major achievements of her administration, and the filmmaker spent several weeks in the 49th state gathering archival film and conducting research and interviews for the project. He and his team took extraordinary measures to keep their endeavor secret.

When they requested from Alaska's TV news stations footage that was shot during Palin's political rise, they asked for additional tapes containing subject matters that were irrelevant to their project, in order not to raise suspicions. And rather than staying at the well-appointed Hotel Captain Cook in Anchorage, they instead took up temporary residence in low-key motels.

"We shot on the weekends, and we shot in locations that weren't being used during those weekends," Bannon said. "I did it with a handpicked crew of people I know and trust, and we were able to stay under the radar. The planning for the secrecy of this took many, many weeks."

Bannon originally titled his film "Take a Stand," which was the campaign slogan for Palin's 2006 gubernatorial run when she defeated incumbent Republican Frank Murkowski in the primary before cruising in the general election to become Alaska's youngest -- and first female -- chief executive. But in order to give it a more triumphant punch, the filmmaker changed the title to "The Undefeated."

Bannon acquired the audio rights to Palin's 2009 bestseller, "Going Rogue," and the former vice-presidential nominee's voice guides the film through the various stages of her career in Alaska.

Although Palin is not interviewed directly, the film features on-camera interviews and commentaries from 10 Alaskans who played different roles in her political rise, as well as six Lower 48 denizens who defend her in more visceral terms, including prominent conservative firebrands Mark Levin, Andrew Breitbart and Tammy Bruce.

Divided into three acts, the film makes the case that despite the now cliched label, Palin was indeed a maverick who confronted the powerful forces lined up against her to achieve wide-ranging success in a short period of time. The second part of the film's message is just as clear, if more subjective: that Sarah Palin is the only conservative leader who can both build on the legacy of the Reagan Revolution and bring the ideals of the tea party movement to the Oval Office.

Rife with religious metaphor and unmistakable allusions to Palin as a Joan of Arc-like figure, "The Undefeated" echoes Palin's "Going Rogue" in its tidy division of the world between the heroes who are on her side and the villains who seek to thwart her at every turn.

To convey Bannon's view of the pathology behind Palin-hatred, the film begins with a fast-paced sequence of clips showing some of the prominent celebrities who have used sexist, derogatory and generally vicious language to describe her.

Rosie O'Donnell, Matt Damon, Bill Maher, David Letterman, and Howard Stern all have brief cameos before comedian Louis C.K. goes off on a particularly ugly anti-Palin riff.

"I hate her more than anybody," C.K. says at the end of his tirade, the rest of which is unfit to print here.

Bannon intends to release two versions of the film. An unrated edition will contain some obscene anti-Palin language and imagery, while the other is targeted to a general audience and will seek a PG-13 rating from the Motion Picture Association of America.

The Making of a Politician

After a brief interlude featuring some old Palin family home video footage, Act 1 begins with Sarah as narrator, recalling the Exxon Valdez spill in 1989, when she was a young pregnant wife married to a blue-collar husband working on the North Slope.

"I hadn't yet envisioned running for elected office," Palin says in the audio taken from "Going Rogue," as images of the environmental disaster unfold on the screen. "But looking back, I could see that tragedy planted a seed in me. If I ever had a chance to serve my fellow citizens, I would do so."

Over the next hour, the crux of the narrative is taken over by Palin's Alaska backers, with former spokesperson Meg Stapleton and attorney Tom Van Flein leading the charge. Other more unfamiliar faces who uphold Palin's Alaska legacy include former Wasilla Deputy Mayor Judy Patrick, former gas pipeline adviser Marty Rutherford, longtime confidantes Kristan Cole and Judy Patrick, and former state Sen. Gene Therriault -- one of the few Alaska legislators who has remained vocal and consistent in his praise of Palin.

The recounting of Palin's earliest years in public office relies on a treasure trove of rare and never-before-seen video obtained by Bannon, including shots of Palin breaking ground on a construction project with her fellow Wasilla City Councilors, waving signs for her mayoral reelection campaign, and reacting acidly to a comment made by John Stein -- her predecessor in the mayor's office and one of the film's villains, who compared her to a "Spice Girl."

As the documentary transitions to Palin's ascent to statewide office, it dramatizes the culture of corruption that permeated Alaska, with images of fat men smoking cigars in dark rooms and the infamous Suite 604 at the Baranof Hotel in Juneau, where the FBI secretly videotaped executives of the oil services company VECO in a corruption scandal that would shake the foundations of Alaska government just as Palin was making a name for herself as an ethics crusader.

"The Undefeated" conveys the dramatic extent to which Palin's world has changed in just a few years, as it shows her announcing her gubernatorial campaign not at a massive rally but at a sparsely attended press conference in her kitchen. Those unfamiliar with Palin's political background will be surprised to learn that the woman who has become one of the nation's most boisterous press critics was once such a media darling that two of the Alaska TV news correspondents whose highly favorable reports are shown in the film ended up leaving their jobs to join the Palin administration.

Palin's charisma has in recent years often been overshadowed by the more unforgiving side of her personality, but one scene from the film illustrates how she has long used her personal charm to disarm and discombobulate her competitors.

"Oh, this will be fun," Palin says to her soon-to-be vanquished Democratic gubernatorial opponent, Tony Knowles, during a brief encounter in Anchorage on primary night in 2006. Knowles remains speechless, while Palin smiles and adds an "Oh, golly" for good measure.

Mining the ‘Maverick' Label

Palin's stint as a hard-charging reformer in Juneau won her approval ratings that consistently topped 80 percent and made her the most popular governor in America, catching the eye of the McCain campaign. It was the "maverick" label that piqued McCain's interest in 2008 -- far more than Palin's supposed purity on social issues -- just as it does the filmmaker's.

The movie focuses on Palin's triumphs on fiscal and energy matters, while ignoring hot-button topics like abortion. Indeed, although she was always identified as a staunch social conservative, Palin often worked more closely with Democrats than Republicans in Juneau and largely avoided ideological fights during her first two years in office.

Yet Palin the Fighter is an ever-present theme in the documentary; one of its most memorable moments occurs when Meg Stapleton recalls an encounter at the Fairbanks airport when Palin literally stared down an oil executive who told her, "You don't know who you're messing with."

The film's third act puts a positive spin on Palin's 2008 vice presidential run, reminding viewers of her initially valuable impact on the McCain campaign by showing the Gallup poll trend lines that had the Republican ticket taking its first lead over the Democrats before the collapse of Lehman Brothers on Sept. 15.

It also gives an extended treatment to Palin's speech at the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minn., her finest hour politically.

"The Undefeated" eschews less flattering topics, such as the Troopergate saga -- which had little effect on the VP campaign but left a lastingly negative impression of Palin in the eyes of many Alaskans -- and her unimpressive series of interviews with Katie Couric.

Bannon dramatizes the theme of Palin's persecution at the hands of her enemies in the media and both political parties, a notion the former governor has long embraced. Images of lions killing a zebra and a dead medieval soldier with an arrow sticking in his back dramatize the ethics complaints filed by obscure Alaskan citizens, which Palin has cited as the primary reason for her sudden resignation in July of 2009.

Fighting Words

The film's coda is introduced with an on-screen caption that reads, "From here, I can see November." It is here that Mark Levin alludes to Ronald Reagan as a Palin-like insurgent who was also once distrusted by the GOP establishment.

Palin is then shown firing up a rally that occurred just last month on the steps of the state capitol in Wisconsin. "What we need is for you to stand up, GOP, and fight," Palin, in vintage campaign form, shouts to the crowd. "Maybe I should ask some of the Badger women's hockey team -- those champions -- maybe I should ask them if we should be suggesting to GOP leaders they need to learn how to fight like a girl!"

Following an extended in-your-face riff by Andrew Breitbart in which he repeatedly denounces as "eunuchs" the male Republican leaders who decline to defend Palin, the film ends with one last scene from the April rally in Madison: "Mr. President, game on!" Palin shouts before a martial drumbeat ushers in a closing quotation by Thomas Paine, which also appeared in "Going Rogue." The implication is neither subtle nor easy to dismiss.

In a telling sign of how the film's message has already resonated with her own thought process, Palin made reference to the Paine quotation during an appearance on Greta Van Susteren's Fox News show last week shortly after she viewed a rough cut of the film for the first time.

"It's like Thomas Paine said, Greta, one of our founders. He said, ‘If there be trouble, let it be in my day that my child may have peace,'" Palin said. "I think of that when I consider whether running for office or not."

SarahPAC's treasurer Tim Crawford confirmed that "The Undefeated" was a hit with Palin.

"The governor thought it was great," Crawford said.

Bannon's film also resonated with members of Palin's staff, including Mansour.

"I'm a huge fan of Steve's work," Mansour said in a statement to RCP on Tuesday. "His film on President Reagan, ‘In the Face of Evil,' is my favorite documentary, and his ‘Generation Zero' was a rallying cry for the Tea Party movement early on. I think his new film really captures the essence of Governor Palin's stewardship of Alaska, and I think people will be really surprised by it. It shatters so many false stereotypes because it shows what she actually accomplished as governor. You can't leave it thinking the same way about Sarah Palin."

In the last couple of months, Palin has delivered major policy speeches, hired a chief of staff, made a well-publicized foreign trip that included a visit with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, all the while remaining consistent about her vow -- first made just days after the 2008 campaign ended -- that she would "crash through" any of the "open doors" that might lead to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

Bannon intends to premiere the film in Iowa late next month before expanding the release to New Hampshire, South Carolina, and Nevada. After the initial rollout in the four early voting states, the filmmaker will eventually release it to somewhere between 50 and 100 markets nationwide.

Palin aides have not yet decided whether the former governor will play an active role in the film's premiere, but there has been some preliminary discussion of purchasing copies of the film from Bannon to distribute as gifts to SarahPAC donors.

Bannon is also working out a video-on-demand deal that will make the movie more widely accessible.

Palin has been tight-lipped about which way she is leaning in regard to running for president next year, but her team of advisers is operating under the notion that they are laying the groundwork for a future campaign, until they are told otherwise.

Palin's future presidential bid might be based in the Phoenix area -- where Bristol Palin also recently purchased a new home -- but Palin's aides have yet to reach out to potential venues for a campaign headquarters in Arizona.

Despite Palin's apparent desire to wait as long as possible before making her decision, aides acknowledge that they will soon have to establish a more campaign-like operation in order to begin a more concerted effort to raise money and take other steps that would be required -- even for a potential candidate as unconventional as Palin.

Meanwhile, the news about Palin's initial effort to commission a film project to highlight her political record is sure to put additional pressure on Fox News to demand an answer from one of their star contributors on whether she intends to run for president or continue working as a political analyst on the network that may soon find itself reporting on her campaign.

Palin and her aides have appeared to recognize that despite some recent polls showing her near the top of the prospective Republican field, she still has substantial problems with independent voters and large swaths of the GOP. Even more daunting will be finding a way to explain persuasively just how it was that ethics complainers and liberal bloggers -- whom other politicians in her shoes might have largely dismissed as relatively minor nuisances -- succeeded in forcing her out of office.

But coming on the heels of former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee's decision not to join the fray, many grassroots conservatives are clamoring for a candidate who has both the stature and the sizzle to compete with President Obama.

If she does decide to run, "The Undefeated" will be the key element to her initial coming-out party. The film's impending release -- and the frenzied media attention that it is sure to generate -- will serve as a vivid wake-up call that despite the many obstacles in front of her, Palin's entry into the race would turn the campaign on its head in an instant, just as it did in 2008.

As she mulls her decision in the coming weeks, the other Republican candidates in the field will be left to prepare for a hibernating grizzly who appears poised to rise up once again.

INFAMOUS UK CLERIC PLANS THURSDAY SHARIA RALLY IN D.C.: ‘RISE TO IM...

Posted on February 28, 2011 at 11:01am by Jonathon M. Seidl
This coming Fourth of July, Muslims are planning a “Million Muslim March” in D.C. to “re-establish the feelings of brother and sisterhood among Muslim Americans“ and start the ”healing” process after 9/11. And while there is no indication that rally will dabble in Sharia law, a different D.C. march scheduled for Thursday boldly declares its goal of bringing Sharia law “directly to the doorsteps of the United States of America.”
The rally is being spearheaded by radical UK Muslim cleric Anjem Choudary, who recently told Sean Hannity Americans are “the biggest criminals in the world today,“ and in October announced ”the flag of Islam will one day fly over the White House.” His group, Islam4UK, has been outlawed in Britain.

“We hereby call upon the Muslims in the US, particularly in New York, Michigan, Chicago and Washington DC to take lessons from their Muslim brothers and sisters in North Africa and the Middle East and rise to implement the Shari’ah in America,” the group Shariah4America, seemingly modeled after Choudary’s UK organization, says on its website.

It goes on to advocate for a new U.S. constitution based on Sharia law:

On 3rd March 2011 From 1pm to 4pm (local time), at Pennsylvania Avenue, outside the White House, the Muslims will let the tyrant Barack Obama and the American people know that a new constitution beckons the US called the Shari’ah, and that this worldwide revolution will see it implemented inshaa’allah (God willing) very very soon.
In an interview with the Daily Mail, Choudary said the event will feature himself and two other radical Muslims:

Two other British extremists, Abu Izzadeen and Sayful Islam, have also been asked to speak at the demonstration.

Izzadeen is the hate preacher who caused fury last year when he called British soldiers ‘murderers’ the day he was released from jail after a three-and-a-half year sentence for inciting terrorism.

Still, it’s unclear if the three extremists will be allowed to enter the country, as even tourist visas require applicants to answer if they have ever supported terrorism. Fox News’s Gretchen Carlson asked Choudary about that possibility in an interview last week, and talked about his involvement in the rally:

Choudary told the Daily Mail that the rally is also being organized by the Islamic Thinkers Society — an American Muslim group based in New York. While the group’s website does not have specific information about the event, it does feature a visual depiction of Sharia law in America (and seems to be based on Choudary’s previous statement):

It also includes a diagram of what an Islamic caliphate would look like:

Shariah4America.com also has a picture of what the White House could look like should America come under Muslim control. The group is advocating it be turned into a Mosque:

So far, the Million Muslim March has not come out in support of Sharia. But it does have 9/11 “truther” undertones. It currently lists one of its rally goals as setting the record straight on 9/11, claiming Muslims were not responsible for the attacks:

Most of the success of the ill conceived scheme to demonize Islam resulted from the rush to judgment that took place following 9/11, and the failed 9/11 investigation which wrongly concluded that Muslims had carried out criminal terrorist attacks on the US on September 11, 2001.

“At the rally, we will also declare to the world that Muslims are innocent of the crimes committed on 9/11 and we demand a new independent investigation and an end to the illegal wars,” the group’s website says.

And while the significance of that march’s date (July 4) isn’t lost to Americans, the choice of March 3 for the Sharia rally isn’t as obvious. Sharia4America explains:

The 3rd of March is overlooked by many as an insignificant day of the year. However, this particular day should not be overlooked by the Muslims without serious contemplation.#On this day, in 1924, the Khilafah (Islamic State) was abolished by Mustafa Kamal Attaturk with the help of the British and European collaborators. It was a catastrophic day when the light of Islam was dimmed and its implementation removed from our lives, leaving the Ummah bare and defenceless against the onslaught of the Kuffar.

What’s the resolution to this action? The answer, the site says, is simple: “The Khilafah is the means to implement Islam with all of its values, outlook, culture and legislation. This is defined by Allah (swt), the Sovereign.”

“We call upon the Ummah to begin working for the re-establishment of the Khilafah so that our lands would be transformed into Dar-ul-Islam.“

Despite people like Van Jones and other progressives speaking with what sounds like noble intentions, in reality their real goal is to fundamentally change the western way of life. Tonight, Glenn starts out talking about the rallies that took place across the country over the weekend. He focuses on Van Jones’s “American Dream” movement, and points out how socialist groups played a major role in organizing the protests. Then, he moves on to talk about the rally in DC scheduled for this Thursday, which will feature radical Muslim clerics calling for Sharia law in America. Read more here.
