As always… in the end the Blue Dogs caved to Team Obama pressure. The House is now moving something through… just to meet President Obama’s deadline, at least partially, without reading the bill or addressing the bulk of the problems. Should you choose to the read the whole bill here it is online: full report My understanding is that there is a grassroots movement of people who are keeping track of which Congress people (and Senators) have read the bill and any other version will and will take that as well as their voting record into account in the 2010 and 2012 elections.

Most of the people I know feel that this entire bill and all the others that are being considered and massaged in both Houses should be scraped and if not then defeated.

We have the greatest health care in the world. 91% of all Americans and legal residents (or legal aliens) have health insurance or are covered by Medicare, Medicaid or Veterans Benefits. 85% of all Americans and ‘legal residents” are happy with their health care. The uninsured are primarily illegal aliens, people who qualify for programs but have chosen not to sign up (young people and wealthy people). If you subtract those from the 50 million uninsured, the number the Dems and Team Obama keep throwing around, the uninsured number about 27 million and many are temporarily uninsured because of job losses under the present economy. All these people could be covered for about $27 to $48 Billion Dollars instead of 1 to 1.6 Trillion, without rationing, without giving up our freedoms, without giving up our choice and probably bettering our healthcare instead of diminishing it with increasing costs!

The government’s job is to regulate not run or pay for healthcare beyond what they do now… and that needs to be cleaned up!!

These bills and nationalization of healthcare is a power grab!

What needs to be done is:

· Junk everyone of the present bills – all 5

· Overhaul Medicare, Medicaid, Veteran’s Health Benefits

1. Tort Reform

2. Investigate and clean-up fraud in all 3 programs

3. Stop the duplication of tests

4. Focus on Prevention

5. Allow and cover alternative medicine and holistic programs and supplements

· Better regulation of insurance companies

1. Control Price Gauging

2. Allow Insurance Companies to Sell Insurance across State lines

3. Create Co-ops for Small Businesses to increase their buying power and control prices

4. All small businesses to pool

5. Do away with exclusions for pre-existing conditions

6. Regulate insurance fraud

7. Portable insurance – allowing you to take your insurance from job to job

8. Consortiums and co-ops for the self-employed and agricultural workers to increase their buying power

· Better Regulation of Big Pharma and the AMA

1. Initiate same cost structure now agreed to by Obama Team and Big Pharma

· Extend coverage under a subsidiary of the overhauled Medicare and Medicaid to the truly indigent and temporarily to the people who have lost their jobs due to the economy.

· Read the Bills – People understand that Congress-people and Senators cannot read every single bill, word for word… but bills that will change our lives and life in the United States, as we know it, like the Stimulus Bills, Cap and Tax, Food Safety and Healthcare Reform need to be read (word for word by everyone who votes)… and then vote “NO” on all the aforementioned!

· Work with Republicans in both houses as well as outside ideas. Just to name a few:

5. “No” eugenic programs or reduction in elder care and services… including ‘Duty to Die’ Lectures

6. “No” central electronic medical database – the possible negative uses of a central government managed database of everyone’s medical history are far too dangerous, especially with this administration! (What should happen is centralized databases with medical history and shared tests within systems like Kaiser, Blue Cross, etc… which is now not the case in many systems, that could be sent to another group in or all, but only with the patients permission).

7. “Yes” coverage for legal residents/aliens, “No” to coverage for illegal aliens

8. “No” affirmative action in the operating room! Medical students need to be accepted and train in accordance with ability, not affirmative action quotas.

9. “Yes” to inclusion of alternative and holistic options and supplements

10. “No” to anymore votes on any bills that have not been read

Punch to another station, I ask that you listen because I'm going to put something in context, and you've heard some of this audio before, but it needs to be put in with context and heard with fresh ears today. With all of the things that are going on, with the czars, with healthcare, with the beers that are being had at the White House on Thursday, with the stimulus package, with the out of control spending, with all of it. You ask yourself and you have if you're anything like me what is going on. How is this coming together? What are they doing?

Well, give me 20 minutes. President Obama's going on vacation next month. You know that, right? He's great. I mean, he deserves it. He's worked hard these last six months. He has worked hard transforming our country. He's been paying people's mortgages, putting gas in their automobiles.

VOICE: Because I never thought this day would ever happen. I won't have to worry about putting gas in my car. I won't have to worry about paying my mortgage. You know, if I help him, he's going to help me.

GLENN: I've personally never seen President Obama, you know, gas anybody up at a Shell station, you know, but I don't get to New Jersey that often. I mean, maybe that's where he's pumping everybody's gas these days. I don't know. How does that woman feel today? She was in last October she said that. How is she feeling now, as she continues to write her own checks for her own mortgage or maybe lose her home and still fill up her own tank, or run out of gas? I wonder if she is disappointed by Barack Obama yet or if she's excited for the change that is still coming. We're now hearing from more and more people who are disappointed because they didn't understand the change. I wonder how did you miss that? The latest poll shows that a growing number of Americans strongly disapprove of his performance. It's now in double digits over those who strongly approve. To many Americans Barack Obama was a moderate and now all of a sudden he's governing for the left. Hello? Are you kidding me? Barack Obama could not have been any more clear about who he was and what he planned to do if he was elected, but everyone refused to listen and many Americans still are. He told us every step of the way up to and including his community organizer plans for America. He even told the American people that ACORN would help shape his agenda.

PRESIDENT OBAMA: But let me even say before I even get inaugurated. During the transition we're going to be calling all of you in to help us shape the agenda. We're going to be having meetings all across the country with community organizations so that you have input into the agenda for the next presidency of the United States of America.

GLENN: He mentioned that he wanted to build an AmeriCorps type volunteer organization that would be just as strong and well funded as the U.S. military.

PRESIDENT OBAMA: We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we've set. We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well funded.

GLENN: A civilian force. I guess we just shrug that off as the peace corps, a Greenpeace. Although, how strong and powerful and well funded do you have to be to plant trees or throw buckets of water on beached whales? Do you need a tank to spray them down? Maybe they'll save sperm whales now with their new peace corps aircraft carriers. And by the way, your kids aren't really going to have a choice because they are making community service now super sexy. Oh, yeah, public service? First we're tying them into student loans. But the good news is their student loans will now be erased, picked up entirely by the taxpayer, if your children just serve as a government bureaucrat for ten years. But even more good news. Soon your kids won't have to worry about making tough decisions like should I serve in a government approved organized group like ACORN or AmeriCorps? They don't have to worry about that because Rahm Emanuel is there. The choice will have already been made for your children because it's good for the collective.

VOICE: The idea of universal citizens service, you have to participate.

EMANUEL: Citizenship is not an entitlement program. It comes with responsibilities. Everybody somewhere between the ages of 18 and 25 will serve three months of basic training in a kind of civil defense. That universal sense of service, somewhere between ages 18 and 25 will give Americans once again a sense of what they are to be American and their contribution to a country and a common experience. And you look at World War II. That was a draft. This is not a draft. It's a universal service. It is not an accident that we started our big march towards civil rights and expanding post World War II because the country came through and experienced together.
VOICE: So is this compulsory then?

EMANUEL: Well, you have to in a sense that it's required of everybody.

GLENN: It's required. It's not a draft. It's required. It's not a draft. It's universal service. It's required. It's not socialism. It's social justice. Does the book "1984" come to mind to anybody? Obama's taxation policies haven't been exactly timid but then I guess we should have known that.

PRESIDENT OBAMA: It's not that I want to punish your success. I just want to make sure that everybody who is behind you, that they've got a chance at success, too. I think when you spread the wealth around, it's good for everybody.

GLENN: Oh, it's good. When we spread the wealth around, it's good for everyone. But that wasn't Marxist. No, no, no. That's not Marxist. That was just a good rule of thumb, sort of a social justice safety tip. Is it possible he learned that ideology very early on from his mentor, Frank Marshall Davis, an avowed communist? And from his favorite professors in college of whom he spoke in his new book, Dreams of My Father.

GLENN: I chose my friends carefully. The more politically active black students, the foreign students, the Chicanos, the Marxist professors and structural feminists and punk rock performance pullets who smoked cigarettes and wore leather jackets. At night in the dorms we discussed neocolonialism, Frantz Fanon, Eurocentrism and patriarchy. When we ground out our cigarettes in the hallway carpet, we set our stereos so loud that the walls began to shake, we were resisting Bourgeois society's stifling constraints.

GLENN: Oh, but Glenn, you can't hold him to that. He was in his early 20s at the time. Even though he said he carefully selected his Marxist professors. Okay, can we hold him to something he said on an Illinois public radio station in 2001 when he was a state legislator?
PRESIDENT OBAMA: But the Supreme Court never ventured into the issues of redistribution of wealth and sort of more basic issues of political and economic justice in this society. And to that extent as radical as I think people tried to characterize the Warren court, it wasn't that radical. It didn't break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the founding fathers and the Constitution, at least as it's been interpreted. And Warren court interpreted it in the same way that generally the Constitution is a charter of negative liberties, says what the states can't do to you, says what the federal government can't do to you. But it doesn't say what the federal government or the state government must do on your behalf. And that hasn't shifted, and one of the, I think the tragedies of the civil rights movement was because the civil rights movement became so court focused, I think that there was a tendency to lose track of the political and community organizing activities on the ground that are able to put together the actual coalitions of power through which you bring about redistributive change, and in some ways we still suffer from that.

GLENN: We went through the courts and so we lost focus on the community organizing on the ground, which is the way you bring about redistributive wealth. The Constitution didn't break free from those founding constraints. It's a document mostly of negative liberties. What a powerful endorsement of the most perfect political document in the history of the world. Thank you, Barack Obama sorry. Thank you, Mr. President of the United States. Unfortunately it also didn't bring about that redistributive change that we and when I say "We," I mean Karl Marx wanted so badly. Here was his response to a caller to that same public radio show.

VOICE: With Karen. Good morning, Karen, you are on Chicago public radio.

CALLER: Hi. The gentleman made the point that the Warren court wasn't terribly radical. My question is with economic changes. My question, is it too late for that kind of reparative work economically and is that the appropriate place for reparative economic work to take place.

VOICE: You mean the court?

CALLER: The courts, or would it be legislation at this point.

PRESIDENT OBAMA: You know, maybe I'm showing my bias here as a legislator as well as a law professor but, you know, I'm not optimistic about bringing about major redistributive change through the courts. You know, the institution just isn't structured that way.

GLENN: He needs to change the structure of the institution. Remember, his last phrase was "Community organizing." Now, you might be thinking, okay, Mr. Fatty Fat Fatso, witch white guy, you are just concerned about a piece of your big fat pile of your Brinks truck cash being taken from you and heaven forbid given to, shhh, a person of color. Really? Do only the rich have electricity in this country? I mean, I know they do in Zimbabwe or where George Onyango Obama lives in his hut in Kenya. But most of us don't live in those conditions. I'm just, I'm thinking out loud here that most, if not all, low income wage earners in this country have things like lights, TVs, radios, air conditionings. And they just might be affected by something else: Obama clearly spelled out during the campaign.

PRESIDENT OBAMA: Under my plan of a cap and trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket. Even, you know, regardless of what I say about whether coal is good or bad. Because I'm capping greenhouse gases, coal power plants, you know, natural gas, you name, whatever the plants were, whatever the industry was, they would have to retrofit their operations. That will cost money; they will pass that money on to consumers.

GLENN: Obama was kind enough to alert us to the fact that some of our rights may be curtailed because we don't want to offend our close personal Euro trash friends and their tender sensibilities with our lifestyle. God forbid we do that.

MICHELLE OBAMA: Barack, as Oprah said, is one of the most brilliant men you will meet in our lifetime.

GLENN: Here's what he said about driving our SUVs. Cut 74, 074.
PRESIDENT OBAMA: We can't drive our SUVs and, you know, eat as much as we want and keep our homes on, you know, 72 degrees at all times whether we're living in a desert or we're living in the tundra and then just expect that every other country's going to say, "Okay."
GLENN: Let me tell you something. My studio is set right now at 65 degrees. I don't care what the Frenchy frogs think about it. Why are liberals always so concerned about the French and what the French are going to France is a rat hole. They are setting cars on fire. They are kidnapping their bosses and threatening to blow up automobile plants if they don't get raises. Why would we care about a country that is out of control, filled with beret wearing, wine swilling surrender monkeys? I'll put this thermometer in this studio at 38 below zero if I want to. It's my damn thermometer. If I want to hang frozen sides of beef in here, I'll do it. I'll park an idling Cadillac Escalade in the studio if I want, with the heaters running at full blast just to stay warm in the 38 below zero studio conditions that I've created with my ridiculously low thermostat temperature while I eat frozen pudding and jelly doughnuts! And I'll be fine... or will I? You see, I can't do that because if I eat too many jelly doughnuts, then I would be bad for the collective health, and the new healthcare system would punish me. If I left my Escalade running, that would be bad for the collective. It would be bad for global health. And it's illegal in New York to let your car idle now unless you're the mayor. Plus, don't forget, GM, Government Motors. They are not even going to be making the Escalade anymore, cars that are supposedly unfriendly to the environment. No, no, we'll soon all be driving the 1 1/2 passenger squirrel powered Yugo. But let's not forget Michelle told us things were going to change. We were hoping for this change. And once we change, we'll never, ever be allowed to go back to our lives before Obama.

MICHELLE OBAMA: And Barack Obama will require you to work. He is going to demand that you shed your cynicism, that you put down your division, that you come out of your isolation, that you move out of your comfort zones, that you push yourselves to be better and that you engage. Barack will never allow you to go back to your lives as usual.

GLENN: Of course, as soon as she said that, she was hidden on the campaign trail. We were promised that there would be change, transformation over and over and over again. When will America open their eyes to the promises of a fundamental transformation of America?

PRESIDENT OBAMA: We are five days away from fundamentally transforming the United States of America.

GLENN: He said it as plain as it possibly could be said and people lived in denial. No one, almost no one, took him at his word. You want a president that you can take at his word. You want a president you can believe in. You want a president who will say what he means and means what he says. And yet when you get one, you think it's campaign rhetoric. You think he doesn't believe in taking wealth from one group and giving it to another. You think he doesn't mean that he's actually going to change or make useless the Constitution through community service groups. You think he actually means or doesn't mean that he's going to start an AmeriCorps where your children will be required to serve. You think he doesn't actually mean that you won't be able to go back to your life as you knew it. You think he doesn't actually mean that you're not going to be affording electricity. You think he doesn't actually mean that you can't have your thermostat at 72 because of what Europe thinks. It's time we take this politician at his word. People haven't been doing it for a while. My question is will you start to do it now?

WASHINGTON — So-called Blue Dog Democrats continued to resist key aspects of their party’s health-care overhaul Sunday, despite pressure from party leaders who fear they will endanger President Barack Obama’s most ambitious legislative effort.

A leader of the fiscally conservative group of representatives said he expects any vote on the House’s health proposal would have to wait, likely until after Labor Day. “I think the American people want to take a closer look at this legislation. They want to feel more comfortable with it,” Rep. Jim Cooper, a Blue Dog from Tennessee, said on CBS’s “Face the Nation.”

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi disputed any suggestion that the Blue Dogs’ protests threatened the bill’s passage. “Absolutely, positively not,” she said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “When I take this bill to the floor, it will win…We will move forward. This will happen.”

Blue Dogs have emerged as pivotal players in the national health-care debate, a swing group that the White House is wooing more intensely to keep its initiative on track. The group, which accounts for about one-fifth of House Democrats, wants to make sure the health-care plan isn’t too expensive for small businesses and hopes to keep the government’s costs down. They don’t want private health insurers to compete with a federally funded plan, and seek to reduce the share of lower-income Americans who would receive health-care subsidies.

Following a week in which the Blue Dogs challenged several key planks of the Democratic plan, most lawmakers agree a delay in the House legislation is likely. The House is set to adjourn next week, and unless lawmakers decide to stay in Washington for a few extra days, a decision would be put off until after Labor Day.

The Blue Dogs’ clout arises from simple math — they account for 52 seats in the House, enough to topple any law in cooperation with Republicans — and some irony. Hungry to retake Congress, Democrats actively recruited moderate candidates in conservative districts. The strategy was strikingly successful in recapturing the majority. But now the Democrats are learning the price as they try to enact their agenda.

The power of the Blue Dogs was on full display Friday, when they humiliated California Rep. Henry Waxman, one of the most liberal Democrats on Capitol Hill. Late last year, Rep. Waxman had shown his power by gaining control of the Energy and Commerce Committee, wresting the chairman’s seat from Congress’s most senior Democrat. On Friday morning, Rep. Waxman went before cameras and fired a blast at seven Blue Dogs on his committee who have blocked the health legislation from proceeding to the House floor for vote.

The chairman said he was done negotiating with them. “We’re not going to let them empower the Republicans to control the committee,” he said.

Hours later, the Beverly Hills Democrat was back in front of reporters with one of the seven, Rep. Mike Ross of Arkansas. “Our colleagues have pulled us both back and said let’s all take a deep breath, that nothing is irreconcilable,” the chairman said.

The Blue Dog Coalition came together after the Democrats’ loss of Congress in 1994. Some representatives, mainly Southerners, believed the party’s losses stemmed from a drift to the left. They decided to take a name that played on the old term “yellow dog,” Southern Democrats who were ostensibly so loyal they would vote for a yellow dog if it ran on the party’s ticket.

One of the founding members, former Rep. Billy Tauzin of Louisiana, had paintings of blue dogs in his office by artist George Rodrigue, prompting some of the roughly 20 lawmakers to joke that they were yellow dogs who’d been “choked blue” by the party’s liberals. Rep. Tauzin later switched to the Republican Party.

The Blue Dogs’ numbers expanded with the election of lawmakers such as North Carolina Rep. Heath Shuler, an ex-Washington Redskins quarterback who opposes abortion, gun control and gay marriage. Democrats begged him to run for Congress in 2006, believing he could win his rural, religious district. The coalition retains a Southern sensibility but many of its members now come from other areas. Nineteen members, called “Blue Pups,” won seats in the past two elections.

Beyond health care, the Blue Dogs have helped delay a climate-change bill and block legislation that would make it easier for unions to organize.

That frustrates liberals, who say the Democratic Party’s victory last November, including a 256-178 majority in the House, gives it a once-in-a-generation chance to enact a liberal agenda.

“Since they can vote with the Republicans in order to get their way around here, that doesn’t sit well with progressives — who don’t want to vote with Republicans ever,” said Rep. Lynn Woolsey, a California Democrat and co-chair of the House Progressive Caucus.

Rep. Shuler, for his part, said that before agreeing to run, he spoke to Rep. Pelosi and House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer to make sure he’d have the freedom he needed.

“One conversation I had with both of them before coming to Congress was, ‘I’m going to vote my district,’” Rep. Shuler said. “It’s one of those swing districts that can go either way…They’re aware of that.”

As long ago as May, the Blue Dogs complained of being shut out of the health-care debate. In a sharp letter to Democratic leaders, they wrote they were “increasingly troubled” by their exclusion.

Rep. Pelosi and others set up a flurry of meetings with them, but the Blue Dogs were not satisfied — especially their point man on health care, Rep. Ross of Arkansas, a former drugstore owner.

“We want to be the brokers of this health-care debate,” said Rep. Ross, who leads a bloc of seven Blue Dogs on the Energy and Commerce Committee. “Not a roadblock.”

Overall, House Blue Dogs are not always in alliance. But the bloc of seven on the Energy and Commerce Committee — an eighth Blue Dog there, Rep. Jane Harman of California, is a liberal on health-care issues — has shown every sign of remaining unified.

The question now is whether Democratic leaders could bypass the committee and take the bill directly to the House floor. Rep. Ross and others say that without the Blue Dogs, Democratic leaders do not have the votes to pass the bill on the floor. So far, Democratic leaders have not wanted to test that proposition.

If Democratic leaders ultimately satisfy the Blue Dogs, the health bill will likely clear the House this week, marking a significant victory for President Obama. A version of the bill is still mired in the Senate, where Democrats and Republicans are engaged in tough negotiations to produce bipartisan legislation.

Mr. Obama met with the Blue Dogs for an hour at the White House last week. Rep. Pelosi recently spent 90 minutes listening to their concerns.

Tennessee Blue Dog Rep. Cooper, who clashed with then-first lady Hillary Clinton over her failed health-care revamp in 1993, is considered by many Democrats a key player to win over this time. He says his group has spent “endless hours” with White House aides seeking common ground.

The Blue Dogs’ resistance has angered other Democrats. At a heated closed-door meeting of House Democrats last week, Rep. Hank Johnson, a Georgia Democrat and member of the Congressional Black Caucus, complained about the Blue Dogs holding up the health bill in Energy and Commerce Committee, noting pointedly that all are white men.

Some critics also point out that while the Blue Dogs proclaim their desire to cut the health bill’s costs, they are also demanding that rural doctors — who serve their districts — get more money, which could drive up those same costs. The Blue Dogs say they are asking for a redistribution of funds among care providers, not an overall increase.

Emotions have run high among Blue Dogs as well. When the health-care talks nearly broke down Friday, Rep. Ross said Rep. Waxman had reneged on agreements he’d reached with the Blue Dogs. Rep. Charlie Melancon of Louisiana said he’d been “lied to.”

“We’ve always been in the middle,” said Rep. John Tanner, a Tennessee Blue Dog. “If you’re going to get some of these really tough issues done, it has to be done somewhere in the middle.”

When Mr. Obama took office in January, with Democrats sweeping to dominant majorities, many in the party were giddy at the prospect of an agenda that would mark a third great wave of progressive Democratic legislation, after the New Deal and the Great Society.

It didn’t take long for the Blue Dogs to play their cards. When Mr. Obama unveiled his $787 billion economic-stimulus plan, a crucial priority of his early presidency, the Blue Dogs said they would not go along unless Democratic leaders agreed to pay-as-you go budget rules. Those rules require new spending and tax cuts to be offset so the deficit doesn’t grow.

The White House had little choice but to agree. That deal bore fruit Wednesday, when the House voted 265-166 to impose a “paygo” system. Rep. Baron Hill of Indiana, a leading Blue Dog, exulted that this had been one of the group’s signature issues for a decade. Republican critics said the legislation still doesn’t go far enough because it exempts all discretionary spending, and applies only to non-routine increases in entitlement programs like Social Security and Medicare.

Food Safety Bill Quietly Scheduled for a Vote on House Floor Call Your Representative Now!

HR2749 is set on the House Suspension Calendar for a vote Tuesday or Wednesday of this week— WE UNDERSTAND THAT THE BILL MAY BE MODIFIED BUT THE NEW LANGUAGE HAS NOT YET BEEN RELEASED!

A bill considered on the suspension calendar means no amendments are allowed and only 40 minutes of debate is permitted equally divided between the opponents and proponents of the bill.

A bill of this scale needs to be carefully and extensively debated and open for amendments! The implications from such an expansive bill could be detrimental to consumers’ access to healthy foods and to the prosperity of small business owners.

Since we have not seen the revised bill, we only know what the bill originally looked like—which wasn’t good. Our primary concerns remain:

(1) establishing an annual $500 user fee that subsidizes giant food processors at the expense of small and family-owned businesses which is simply unfair;
(2) lumping small farms and processors into the same category as large agribusiness operations, and creating complicated regulations without special rules for small businesses;
(3) allowing the FDA to directly regulate farming practices—be it a large commercial farm or a small organic operation; and
(4) increasing the FDA’s authority dramatically with no corresponding increase in oversight of the agency such as unlimited access to any and all records—without cause—and the ability to impose substantial criminal and civil fines—without a showing of harm—for administrative violations.

How can a Representative thoroughly review over 100 pages and have an informed vote with only 40 minutes of debate?

A Look at What is Really in the Health Care Bill (HR3200): CHILLING! - Updated

The House of Reprsentatives is trying to pass a bill stopping Republicans from using public funds to send this chart and information on the present Healthcare Reform attempst to their constituents. Hello... that is their job and what those funds are for; unlike the Dems who keep passing things in the middle of the night that nobody reads and nobody knows about...

Take a look at what actually is in the Health Care bill. Obama makes disingenuous comments like “You’ll still keep your doctor” or “You’ll keep your existing health care.” He is either lying to us or he has no idea what is in it. Take a peek at the full report, or look at some of the highlights here:

Pg 16-17 of the HC Bill states as soon as anything changes in your HC coverage -- such as a change in co-pays or deductibles, which many insurers change every year --you'll have to move into a qualified plan instead.

Pg 22 of the HC Bill mandates the Government will audit books of all employers that self insure. Can you imagine what that will do to small businesses? Every one will abandon “self insurance” and go on Government insurance. So when Obama says that there will still be private health care, it’s simply a lie: this mandate will force employers to abandon their private plans

Pg 30 Sec 123 of HC bill – a Government committee (good luck with that!) will decide what treatments/benefits a person may receive.

One troubling provision of the House bill compels seniors to submit to a counseling session every five years (and more often if they become sick or go into a nursing home) about alternatives for end-of-life care(House bill, p. 425-430). The sessions cover highly sensitive matters such as whether to receive antibiotics and "the use of artificially administered nutrition and hydration."

PG 430 Lines 11-15 The Government will decide what level of treatment you will have at end of life.

This mandate invites abuse, and seniors could easily be pushed to refuse care. Do we really want government involved in such deeply personal issues?

And shockingly, only a portion of the money accumulated from slashing senior benefits and raising taxes goes to pay for covering the uninsured. The Senate bill allocates huge sums to "community transformation grants," home visits for expectant families, services for migrant workers -- and the creation of dozens of new government councils, programs and advisory boards slipped into the last 500 pages.

Page 472 Lines 14-17 PAYMENT TO COMMUNITY-BASED ORGANIZATION. 1 monthly payment to a community-based organization. (Like ACORN?)

PG 489 Sec 1308 The Government will cover Marriage & Family therapy. Which means they will insert Government into our marriages.

Pg 494-498 Government will cover Mental Health Services including defining, creating, rationing those services. You’d better speak up now before you are on the “advanced care consultation” list.

Pg 881 – 882 Preferential treatment will be given to minorities and other challenged groups over test scores and grades for entrance to medical school. (I don’t know about you, but I don’t care what color my doctor or nurse is, but I want “the best” surgeon regardless of race or color doing my surgery!!).

***All doctors will be forced to do abortions, no matter what their convictions.***

• Everyone’s medical records will be in a central database controlled by the government… probably facilitated by G.E… Can anybody say, “Big Brother” and want to speculate what this database will eventually be used for?

What we need is:

• tort reform (reduction of frivolous medical lawsuits)

• focus on prevention

• regulation of insurance fraud and insurance fees

• no more exclusion of coverage for pre-existing conditions

• Overhaul of waste and fraud in Medicare, Medicaid and Veteran Coverage – programs the government already runs inefficiently

• Reduction of test duplication

• Set up Consortiums for small businesses to give them choices and buying power for insurance.

• Allow Health Insurance Companies to sell insurance across state lines to cut costs

• Initiate the special cost structure concessions that have been acquired by the Obama Administration for drugs and medical supplies.

• Perhaps the truly indigent could be covered by a Medicare subsidiary?

According to the CBO, the Congressional Budget Office, and any experts that have actually read HR3200 and the other 4-bills being considered in the House and Senate the consensus is that none of these bills will improve care, cover everyone, or lower costs. They will worsen care, leave people without coverage, drastically increase costs, begin rationing of care that will hit seniors, the chronically ill and special needs patients first and the hardest.

(Let us also not forget that part of the reason that both U.S. Social Security and Medicare are in the dire conditions that they are now in is because if government mismanagement. Government has borrowed against the money in both coffers for years. And now they want us to put them in charge if all U.S. Healthcare. Our answer must be an unequivocal “no”. Yes to government regulation and over-sight but “no” to government run or paid for medical care of any kind. beyond the programs they already run inefficiently.)

We need to kill all 5-bills; keep the basic system we have; initiate the reforms above to cuts costs and work on covering the people who truly don’t have and can’t afford coverage. If you take out illegal aliens and people who qualify for programs that already exist, the number of uninsured is half of what the Dems and the Obama Administration is pushing. This could be done for between 28 – 49 Billion Dollars, depending on the coverage, vs. between 1 and 1.6 Trillion that the governments plan will cost… and we will still be the best health coverage in the world!

No matter what they tell you, if you read this plan/bill, you realize that it will ultimately evolve into a single-payer government-run healthcare system, with healthcare personal shortages, revenue shortages, long waits for care and rationing, unnecessary suffering and even death from lack of care, refusal of services for the elderly, while many still won’t be covered and the cost for this inefficient service will be astronomical.

• The U.S. Healthcare System is the best in the World
• The life expectancy in the U.S. and survival rates of cancer, heart disease, etc is the best in the world, and now we are talking eugenics for Seniors!?!
• 91% of Americans have healthcare and 85% of Americans are happy with their coverage.
• There is not example of socialized medicine or national government healthcare that works well.
• Canadians, Brits and people with money from all over the world come here for medical services.
• Government controlled healthcare in both Hawaii and Massachusetts were and are failures.
• When some some at a press conference essentially asks the President of the United States if they would kill their mother instead of giving her a pacemaker under the new system and the president tap dances, there is problem.
• The President ‘admitted’ that he would not accept the limitations of this program for his family.
• Congress will not be covered under the new healthcare program, but you and your family will have no choice.
• Virtually none of the Congressman, Senators, nor the President have read this bill.
• The only people who have read this bill are lobbyists, a few experts, a few diligent citizens and the Talk Radio Hosts!!!

Senator Jon Kyl of Arizona and Betsy McCaughey, for Lt Gov of New York and Patient Advocate, suggest that Americans stand up!! Call, write, email and fax your Congressperson, Senator, and Nancy Pelosi… and as many other Senators and Congressman that you can and pass on this information. And don’t let off the pressure!!!

Betsey McCaughey suggests that AARP members stop paying their dues and pressure AARP to stand up for them! Attend Tea Parties, join grassroots movements and get this information out to as many people as you can!

And the World Health Organization ranked the United States No. 1 out of 191 countries for being responsive to patients' needs, including providing timely treatments and a choice of doctors. This will all change if any of the present Congressional or Senate Bills become law!

This could be America’s biggest fight ever!!

Kristol: Kill It, and Start Over

Bill Kristol told his republican allies to "kill it, and start over", meaning President Obama's Healthcare proposal.

With Obamacare on the ropes, there will be a temptation for opponents to let up on their criticism, and to try to appear constructive, or at least responsible. There will be a tendency to want to let the Democrats' plans sink of their own weight, to emphasize that the critics have been pushing sound reform ideas all along and suggest it's not too late for a bipartisan compromise over the next couple of weeks or months.

My advice, for what it's worth: Resist the temptation. This is no time to pull punches. Go for the kill.

The Obama White House and the Democratic congressional leadership shouldn't be underestimated. They're tough. They'll cut deals and twist arms to try to keep their priority legislation alive. They'll certainly attack their opponents, whether their opponents' tone is conciliatory or confrontational.

So this is not the time to let them off the ropes. This is the week to highlight every problem, every terrible provision, in the Democratic bills: from taxes and spending to government control and rationing to federal funding for abortion and government-required death-with-dignity counseling sessions for the elderly. Throw the kitchen sink at the legislation now on the table, drive a stake through its heart (I apologize for the mixed metaphors), and kill it.

Then opponents can say, of course we do want to pass sensible health reform. But to do so, we need to start over.

So the constructive part of the message would be: Start Over. We're not giving up on health reform. Far from it. But the only way to pass health reform is first to get rid of the misbegotten efforts now before Congress. The only way to pass health reform is to start over in the fall. The Obama plan wouldn't go into effect until 2013 anyway (except the tax increases, which would kick in in 2011). We have plenty of time to work next year on sensible and targeted health reform in a bipartisan way. But first we need to get rid of Obamacare. Now is the time to do so.
