IRS’s Lerner Bombshell, Treasury Department Secretly Drafted New Rules To Restrict Activity of Conservative Groups… Yet Pres Obama Says No Smidgen of Corruption

The Daily Caller: The Obama administration’s Treasury Department and former IRS official Lois Lerner conspired to draft new 501(c)(4) regulations to restrict the activity of conservative groups in a way that would not be disclosed publicly, according to the House Committee on Ways and Means.

The Treasury Department and Lerner started devising the new rules “off-plan,” meaning that their plans would not be published on the public schedule. They planned the new rules in 2012, while the IRS targeting of conservative groups was in full swing, and not after the scandal broke in order to clarify regulations as the administration has suggested.

The rules place would place much more stringent controls on what would be considered political activity by the IRS, effectively limiting the standard practices of a wide array of non-profit groups.

“Don’t know who in your organizations is keeping tabs on c4s, but since we mentioned potentially addressing them (off -plan) in 2013, I’ve got my radar up and this seemed interesting…,” Treasury official Ruth Madrigal wrote in a June 14, 2012 email to Lerner and others obtained by Ways and Means and provided to The Daily Caller.

Ways and Means chairman Rep. Dave Camp blasted the off-the-record plan during a hearing Wednesday with IRS commissioner John Koskinen, and called for the administration’s newly proposed 501(c)(4) rules to be halted until criminal investigations into the IRS targeting scandal are complete.

“If Treasury and the IRS fabricated the rationale for a rule change it would tend to raise questions about the integrity of the rule-making process,” Camp said.

“I want to be perfectly clear – this committee will fight any and all efforts to restrict the rights of groups to organize, speak out and educate the public, just as unions are allowed to do so.  We will get to the bottom of this, and I expect the IRS to produce – quickly – the outstanding documents the committee has requested,” Camp said.

“I believe the IRS has a long way to go in restoring its credibility.  But, you can take a first step by complying with this committee’s request and stopping all action against 501(c)(4) groups until the appropriate investigations are completed.”

The new rules define more previously acceptable activities by nonprofit groups as prohibited “candidate-related political activity.” Communications and activities including voter registration drives and publishing voter guides, among others, are now classified as political activity. Grants and donations that 501(c)(4)’s give to other nonprofits are now subject to new record-keeping and increased scrutiny to prevent the money’s use for broadly-defined political activity.

The rules were “drafted in a manner, in my view, to shut down tea party groups” Rep. Camp said earlier this week.

New IRS commissioner Koskinen said that the rules should “put to rest all of the issues surrounding applications for tax-exempt status.”

But Madrigal’s email to Lerner proves that the regulations were being developed long before the IRS needed to publicly put anything “to rest.”

At least 292 conservative groups were subjected to unfair targeting between 2010 and 2012, against six liberal groups that were allegedly given similar treatment.

“They are both over-broad and under-inclusive,” said Foley & Lardner LLP partner Cleta Mitchell on the new rules.

“They’ve taken everything that 501(c)(4) organizations do in the normal course of business and proposed to convert that all to candidate-related activity, even if a candidate is never mentioned.”

Mitchell said that the rules are being “rushed through” for political purposes.

“The objective is to get the rules in place before the 2014 election,” Mitchell said.

Hmmmm… Remember the O’Reilly-Obama pre-Super Bowl interview just last weekend where the President said there was not a smidgen of corruption involved in the IRS situation where conservative groups were targeted?

OBAMA:  I do not recall meeting with him in any of these meetings that are pretty routine meetings that we had.
O’REILLY:  OK, so you don’t — you don’t recall seeing Shulman, because what some people are saying is that the IRS was used…
OBAMA:  Yes.
O’REILLY:  — at a — at a local level in Cincinnati, and maybe other places to go after…
OBAMA:  Absolutely wrong.
O’REILLY:  — to go after.
OBAMA:  Absolutely wrong.
O’REILLY:  But how do you know that, because we — we still don’t know what happened there?
OBAMA:  Bill, we do — that’s not what happened.  They — folks have, again, had multiple hearings on this.  I mean these kinds of things keep on surfacing, in part because you and your TV station will promote them.
O’REILLY:  But don’t…
OBAMA:  But when (INAUDIBLE)…
O’REILLY:  — think there are unanswered questions?
OBAMA:  Bill, when you actually look at this stuff, there have been multiple hearings on it.  What happened here was it that you’ve got a…
O’REILLY:  But there’s no definition on it.
OBAMA:  — you’ve got a 501(c)(4) law that people think is focusing.  No — that the folks did not know how to implement…
O’REILLY:  OK…
OBAMA:  — because it basically says…
O’REILLY:  — so you’re saying there was no…
OBAMA:  — if you are involved…
O’REILLY:  — no corruption there at all, none?
OBAMA:  That’s not what I’m saying.

If there isn’t a smidgen of corruption, why was Obama’s new #IRS Chief apologizing… and perhaps already lying?

Then on Wednesday, 02.05.14, the new chief of the U.S. Internal Revenue Service, John Koskinen (74), a lawyer with little tax experience but with a reputation as a troubleshooter, apologized and promised that one of his priorities is to restore public trust in the IRS on the one hand but played down the IRS scandal as a minor issue with a handful of conservative political groups as if the matter was minor and settled (which it isn’t) on the other hand… just as new of the Lerner off-plan has emerged.

It has also come to light that virtually the first thing Koskinen did after taking office as IRS Commissioner was to give out $62 million in bonuses to boost moral among IRS workers… Really?  How about the moral of average Americans and those who have been targeted by the IRS with audits and delays of approval for their 501(c)(4)? Sounds a lot like same old same old to me?!?

Happy Birthday, President Reagan

Today marks the birthday of Ronald Wilson Reagan, 40th president of the United States of America.

Reagan became president when the United States was in a period of great stress, just after the tenure of Jimmy Carter. Inflation and interest rates were in double digits and unemployment was close to 7%, taxes were at an all time high, America's foreign policy and international prestige were reeling from the Iranian hostage crisis, severe cutbacks in defense and successful Soviet penetration all over the world.

Worse than that, Americans seemed to have lost confidence in themselves and in the country's greatness.

Reagan squared his shoulders, rolled up his sleeves and got to work. He cut government, cut taxes, and oversaw the creation of 16 million new jobs and economic growth at 3.5 % per year. He rebuilt America's military. He was unafraid to call the Soviet Union an evil empire, or to challenge them directly so that their evil empire crumpled into the dust of history.

He left America safer, stronger and wealthier than it was when he came, which is the most you can ask of a president. In simple terms, he was a singularly decent man who honored both himself and the nation he served.

He gave us confidence in ourselves again, reminded us of who we are and that we are a country singularly blessed by G-d's providence. He inspired us as a nation. And he did it with grace, charm, wit and style, and with a sunny optimism that reached out to the best in us.

If ever a president deserved a national holiday to honor him, President Reagan does.

He was by no means perfect, as he would doubtless be the first to say. But in Ronald Reagan, we have an example of what real leadership is, an example especially needed today.

Happy Birthday, Mr. President...We Miss You!!!

** And let us remember this conservative yet practical leader in the upcoming elections of 2014 and 2016.  Reagan's old and proven formula was to unite behind the most conservative and principled candidate(s) available, and to make sure he or she knew that 2-years, let alone 10-months, isn't that far away. It won't be perfect, but it will even put RINO’s who survive on notice that times have changed!!

If you believe everything you read, Hillary Clinton is already President of the United States-in-waiting and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie ‘was’ the GOP’s predestined 2016 nominee. Does this sound like 2012 or 2008 all over again?

But what is true is that the jockeying for the 2016 Election is in full swing. The Democrat strategy is to intimidate and sideline, by any means, any Democrat opposition to Hillary Clinton for the primaries while attacking and obliterating any Republicans that they feel could give her a strong challenge in the general election; Chris Christie is only the beginning and Sarah Palin, probably the one they fear the most has been on their radar screen since she gave her 2008 Vice Presidential nomination acceptance speech. The folks, as O’reilly likes to call average everyday American, of which Palin is one, loved her immediately and she inspired women on both sides of the aisle, including political convert and lifetime Democrat, the Los Angeles President of the National Organization for Women (NOW) who introduced Palin for her first Rally in Cali in Carson City where a crowd of 23,000 gathered, that I was privileged to attend, with a last minute announcement… so the Progressive  left immediately feared and hated her. You can bet that Hillary does not draw that kind of a crowd for her speeches!

The left knew how much of a threat Sarah Palin was, and is, and colluded to demonize her using their progressive minions in the mainstream media with instructions to use any and every dirty trick in their bag of Alinsky tricks… already knowing that they would be running Hillary Clinton in 2016 and that Sarah Palin another tough woman but younger, prettier, principled and by then tested by the fire created by them, who had real accomplishments both personal and professional would be the Republican’s best shot to beat her… that is if common sense could get past the GOP party establishment that strangled the party in 2008 and 2012. The Progressives organized a group of jour’no’lists including CFR operative Katie Couric to go after Palin and a created what is commonly know as Palin Derangement Syndrome… which still continues.

So the question is… can the Republicans get past their own establishment that strangled their party in 2008 and 2012, which includes their chairman Reince Priebus? The Vichy Republicans or old GOP guard are desperately trying to hold onto their own power instead of listening to their base and the grassroots swell of Americans that Sarah Palin and those she helped get into office in 2010 and 2014 represent, those like Ted Cruz, a great VP choice, who call her the Kingmaker. RNC Chairman Priebus Did Say that a Hillary’s 2016 Candidacy is Set… And Electing a Female Presidency Will be the Carrot…, but somehow he doesn’t seem to be able to make the needed and obvious connection that Palin is the GOP’s strongest shot in 2016. In a recent Poll: Sarah Palin Again Had the Highest Favorability Rating Among GOP Primary Voters and the President of the Heritage Foundation and Former U.S. Senator Jim DeMint recently stated that there is no better endorsement a Conservative, Republican, Independent or Libertarian can get than one from Sarah Palin and CNN reported that Palin’s influence is far from diminishing.  That is not necessarily the case for an endorsement by Hillary for Democrats, let alone for an Independent.

The Republicans are moving their 2016 Convention back to June or July from late August to give their candidate access to campaign funds and the RNC staff earlier.  They are also cutting back on the number of primary debates after they helped slaughter themselves in 2012 with their former schedule and by trying to marginalize people like Sarah Palin and that ever-growing wing of the Party and of the population in general. Just today Rush Limbaugh put forth the theory that republicans want to win the 2014 Election narrowly (if at all), without the Tea Party.  Why you wonder?  The why is because the powers that be and the establishment politicians want to keep the system in place, which puts money in their pockets.  That is how they keep everyone inline, or at least did until the rise of the Tea Party (Taxed Enough Already). It is a system that the Clintons are part of, but a system that Sarah Palin would expose and stop, as she did with the Corrupt Bastard’s Club in Alaska.

Every American should educate themselves about Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin, because what you think you know, if it is through the mainstream media, is probably wrong about both of them!  It is time for all Americans to clear their mind of any previous pre-conceptions about these two women and start anew in their education process.

Us For Palin 

I just finished Sarah Takes on Big Oil, by Kay Cashman and Kristen Nelson. One of the major things I liked about the book, is that outsiders without an agenda wrote it. They were unbiased and just wrote the facts. I recommend that you all read this book.

As you read Sarah Takes on Big Oil, you will see what we have all been writing about and why we stand with former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin. Tom Irwin, Commissioner of the Department of Natural Resources who is quoted in the book said it best. “She is a real leader, our governor is grounded in a fundamental of honesty, integrity, her faith and understanding of the Constitution. I’ve never seen her once, ever, come close to the bright line of wanting to violate those.”

As you read through Sarah Takes on Big Oil you’ll see other comments by Irwin, that let you know Gov. Palin has not changed as she fights to bring the Republican party back to where it stood when Reagan was President. “I am a conservative Republican. As I read Sarah Takes on Big Oil, I thought, that is what we all see and feel about the lady from the North. We see her integrity, we see her honesty, we know her faith. This is a lady who would have made an outstanding Vice President – oh, and a great president at which we still have a chance!

So again beside trying to obliterate every opponent by using whatever means necessary (legal, questionable, and illegal) and Protecting Hillary… at every turn to pave the way for an easy Hillary win in both the primaries and the general election, the Democrats intend to make the focus of the 2016 election about their fabricated ‘war on women’ (by the Republicans) and electing the first U.S. female president. So logic would dictate that the Republicans fight back with on an equal playing field with a worthy opponent… the strongest battle proven women in the Republican Party… Sarah Palin. So where is the the breakdown in the party’s ability to make that connection if they really want to win? Like the Democrats, the GOP was well as freedom loving Independents, Libertarians, Conservatives and unaffiliated voters who see the need for real change should be supporting and protecting Sarah Palin as the Democrats are doing for Hillary.  Instead they are helping to continue to undermine her, the Republican Party and America… For those who either don’t or choose not to remember McCain-Palin were ahead in the polls after Palin joined the ticket, Greta Van Susteren pulled out the old polls. Want things to change… then elect someone that believes in the principles that made this country great, but who can win against the Democrat’s probable ‘first female president’ candidate carrot… and that person is someone the left fears.  That person is Sarah Palin who just Polled With Highest Favorability Rating Among GOP Primary Voters.  Palin is Reaganesque, undefeated and tested after unending attacks by the Left which includes the probable 2016 Democrat ‘Female’ Presidential Candidate… Hillary, who really is Barack Obama in a Dress. Sarah can win!!  She had the crowds eating out of her hand in 2008 after her VP Presidential Nominating Speech! And Rino John McCain and the Progressive Liberal Media tried to destroy her.

Is the House GOP Leadership Being Blackmailed Into Voting for Amnesty?

There are some great options on the GOP side if we don’t let the old guard Establishment Co-Opt the process as they did in 2008 and 2012 and the Democrats must have someone better than Hillary or their old Establishment guard.

Sarah Palin for President and Ted Cruz for Vice-President… a winning ticket that would represent ‘the American people’, restore the Constitution and get government out of our lives and pockets

And just today I heard a new interesting option: Dr. Ben Carson for President and Judge Jeanine Pirro for Vice-President

Hillary now wants to get Benghazi out of the way… Clinton said when asked to identify “do-overs” of her time as America’s top diplomat during her keynote appearance before the National Automobile Dealers Association in New Orleans. she said, “My biggest, you know, regret is what happened in Benghazi,”  I think what Hillary meant was that her biggest regret is not being able to squelch the Benghazi scandal.  Just for the sake of history, let’s recall that Clinton could have prevented the attack but failed to do so

Benghazi Report: Obama and Hillary Lied, Americans Died, Media Complicit… Obama Went to Vegas and they need to take responsibility!  Yet, RNC Chairman Says Hillary 2016 Candidacy is Set… And Female Presidency Will be the Carrot… Time to say no thanks and fight back with our own powerhouse!!

In the meantime, there are rumblings that there has been a shake-up in the White House because Obama Puppetmaster, George Soros, is not happy; perhaps coming off the meetings by the power elite in Davos?  And the Democrats facing re-election in 2014 are also running scared. 

Obama has already warned that he will use his phone and pen to sign executive orders to circumvent Congress and the witch hunt against Conservative Opponents and anyone the White House considers to be in their way will be investigated, minimalized and silenced.  David Plouffe is said to be out, Valerie Jarrett has been demoted and replaced by John Podesta and David Simas will run Obama’s new operations office.  The State of the Union is expected to be anything but a call for unity, and 2014 definitely will be the most divisive Obama year yet as Soros pushes his agenda to move the U.S. toward Socialism. It is time for everyone to get-involved and for Conservatives, Libertarians, Tea Party Groups and all the other small groups who are fighting to take back our Country to find common ground and work together to save America for our children, our grandchildren and future generations.  There is too much at stake not to!!

The real question is… will we, Conservatives, Libertarians, Tea Party Groups and all the other patriotic groups, continue letting the media and RINOs and Progressives from both parties steal elections from us? because we can’t or won’t find common ground and compromise?

David John Marotta, a Wall Street adviser and President of Marotta Wealth Management, puts U.S. unemployment closer to 37.2%, much higher than even the 25% most bloggers and honest journalists have estimated, and certainly not the unicorn dust propaganda of 6.7% claimed by the Fed.

From Reagan to Rubio: The Wussification of the Republican Party

I started this Blog back in April of 2010 as a way of venting my frustration with what I saw happening in the greatest country on God’s Green Earth.

I could not believe what was going on around me. The American People had elected an incompetent, pompous, didactic, divisive, self-involved, Marxist idiot to the most important position in the world: the Presidency of the United States.

The Federal Government, under the leadership of Barack Hussein Obama, and his partners in crime, Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader, Harry Reid, was headed down the road to full-blown socialism, faster than Rosie O’Donnell heading to Golden Corral.

Gradually, from seemingly out of nowhere, a movement began. It wasn’t a Liberal “Astroturf” movement…it was a groundswell, started by average Americans, who were fed up with being over-taxed and under-represented by the people whom they had elected and sent to Washington to SERVE THEM.

As the movement began to take place, it was clear that this was a CONSERVATIVE movement…and a PATRIOTIC one…as they took the name “TEA Party” which stood for “Taxed Enough Already”. Just as the Colonials, who revolted against the King of England, these Americans were, and still are, fighting against “TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION”.

I remain proud of these Americans. As a fellow Conservative and TEA Party Supporter, they remind me of the Republican Party of my young adulthood, when, in November of 1980, at the age of 21 and 11 months, I cast my very first vote for the greatest President of my generation, Ronald Wilson Reagan. The TEA Party reminds me of the way Republicans, led by Ronaldus Magnus, were back then: plain-spoken, good-humored, honest-to-a-fault, servants of the people, whom you were just as likely to find at St. Peter’s Orphanage’s Annual Picnic in Memphis, TN, as you were at the New York Metropolitan Opera.

In fact, I and my fiancee sent a wedding invitation to President and Mrs. Reagan, and got back and official congratulations card, signed by them, from the Office of Protocol.

The Obamas think “class” is something they skipped to go “choom”.

But, I digress…

The blemish on Reagan’s record that Liberals from both sides of the aisle, are bring up right now, is his passage of a law granting Amnesty to illegal aliens.

Reagan signed the Immigration Reform and Control Act in 1986 because he strongly believed that it was time to gain control of U.S. borders and to enforce legal hiring at workplaces.

The amnesty of 3 million illegal immigrants that came with it was relatively small, and never would have resulted in 11 million new immigrants in the decades that followed had the rest of the law’s requirements been fulfilled by Congress.

Of course, they weren’t.

According to Reagan Attorney General Ed Meese, amnesty was in fact Reagan’s biggest regret, per a story in the Heritage Times, because he, like the people who supported him, believed in the rule of law.

As the halcyon days of the Reagan Administration passed by, and time moved on, the Republican Party slowly, but surely, began to distance themselves from us rubes living out here in America’s Heartland, otherwise known as “Flyover Country”.

And, as they became more isolated from the people they were supposed to be serving, they started losing elections. Sure, Dubya was elected for two terms (Thank God.), but, can you imagine either Al Gore or John Kerry as President? Without throwing up, that is?

With the election of Barack Hussein Obama (mm mmm mmmm), and with the Democrats controlling both the House and Senate,this nation was taken on a madcap plunge toward socialism faster than Elvis going down the last hill on the Zippin Pippin at the old Mid-South Fairgrounds.

And then, Americans stood up on their hind legs and started the TEA Party Movement.

Obama and the Democrats, and the Status Quo-loving Establishment Republicans, could not believe their eyes. “What was this mess? How dare these sheep break away from the flock!”

While Obama and the Democrats attacked us every which-way they could think us, accusing us of RAAACIIISM, carrying guns to rallies, etc., the “Moderate” Republicans, played it very cagey. They used the TEA Party during the months leading up to the 2010 Mid-terms, to get themselves elected, and win back the House of Representatives, on the promise that they would govern “Conservatively”.

Allow me to pause for a moment and say this: I am not speaking about actual Reagan Conservatives and TEA Party Members like Sarah Palin, Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, and sometimes, Rand Paul. I am speaking of those Vichy Republicans, like John Boehner, Mitch McConnell, John McCain, Mitt Romney, Paul Ryan, Eric Cantor, and Marco Rubio, who should just switch parties, and get it over with.

In the two years since the TEA Party propelled them to victory in the Mid-terms, the Establishment Republicans, who rode our coat tails back to the Halls of Power, have increasingly treated us badly, at first, shunning Conservatives like we were red-headed step-children, and now, insulting and degrading us like we are lepers…or their enemy.

And now, with Obama failing miserably, tanking in every single Popularity Poll, making about as much sense as a punch-drunk boxer, the Republicans appear ready to commit mass seppuku (hari kari), as I wrote yesterday, “snatching defeat out of the jaws of victory”  by pushing for Amnesty for illegal aliens, in order to supply their Big Money Donors, in the US Chamber of Commerce, with cheap labor.

In fact, that’s not the only issue that the Vichy Republicans are wussing out on…and it has Senator Ted Cruz worried, as he told Breitbart.com:

Cruz questioned how establishment Republicans unilaterally caving to Democrats on everything from the farm bill to the budget to the debt ceiling and more could think amnesty is a good idea at this time.

“Right now, Republican leadership in both chambers is aggressively urging members to stand down on virtually every front: on the continuing resolution, on the budget, on the farm bill, on the debt ceiling,” Cruz said in a statement provided exclusively to Breitbart News on Thursday.

He continued:

They may or may not be right, but their argument is that we should focus exclusively on Obamacare and on jobs. In that context, why on earth would the House dive into immigration right now? It makes no sense, unless you’re Harry Reid. Republicans are poised for an historic election this fall–a conservative tidal wave much like 2010. The biggest thing we could do to mess that up would be if the House passed an amnesty bill–or any bill perceived as an amnesty bill–that demoralized voters going into November. Rather than responding to the big-money lobbying on K Street, we need to make sure working-class Americans show up by the millions to reject Obamacare and vote out the Democrats. Amnesty will ensure they stay home.

Cruz added that granting amnesty now–while wrong in his opinion at any time–would ensure Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid remains in his position in after the 2014 elections.

“Amnesty is wrong in any circumstance, and if we are going to fix our broken immigration system–and we should–it makes much more sense to do so next year, so that we are negotiating a responsible solution with a Republican Senate majority rather than with Chuck Schumer,” Cruz said. “Anyone pushing an amnesty bill right now should go ahead and put a ‘Harry Reid for Majority Leader’ bumper sticker on their car, because that will be the likely effect if Republicans refuse to listen to the American people and foolishly change the subject from Obamacare to amnesty.”

I wish we had a Senate full of Ted Cruzs and Mike Lees (Sarah Palins).

The trouble with our Liberal friends is not that they’re ignorant; it’s just that they know so much that isn’t so.

Evidently, that applies to Vichy Republicans, as well.
